Transformational leadership motivates and inspires others to operate to their full potential. Transformational leadership places more focus on improving the overall group performance than singling out just one individual. Transformational leadership best aligns with my own personal thoughts, feelings, and style of leadership when serving others. Transformational leaders transform followers by transforming follower’s values and beliefs (Bradley & Charbonneau,2004).
Leadership Characteristics As serving in the role of a public service leader my ability to remain compassionate and helpful when interacting with others has enabled me to help create and foster a peaceful environment within my organization. Understanding that everyone has their own special gifts and talents has assisted me with better understanding one’s abilities, strengths and weaknesses. In the field of public service, it is very important that servant leaders encourage others to rise to every occasion both personally and professionally. Being an advocate for growth, change, and humility can ignite the passion and love for the human services filed in others.
A servant leader must listen to a person fully without interrupting or judging them. While doing my service at the animal shelter there were two other people doing service. They were prisoners wearing the orange jumpsuit. Although most people would assume they are bad and not to talk to them, me and my group had a conversation with them about the dogs. They showed a lot of compassion about what they were doing. Although it was work they were forced to do they gave it their all. I listened and communicated with them the entire time without judging whatever they might have done. This was showing servant leadership in one of the hardest

Great leaders don’t just tell they do, and I think that by leading with a servant heart means you do just that. You don’t just tell others that you’re the leader and expect them to follow you; you live your life in such a way that others want to look up to you as a leader in their life. You meet the needs of others and humble yourself always. A servant leader makes sure that all the people around them are set up for success in life.
