The overcoming of obstacles is the real learning of the experience, not the act of reaching the finish. As the great martial artist once said, “Success is the journey, not the destination”.
If you give up every time you come to a wall, you will never
“Accept the challenge so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” Stated by George S. Patton, a senior officer of the United States Army, trying to explain that if you try to achieve difficult goals and complete them, you will feel success and feel good about yourself. I have faced many obstacles in my life and have been through many hardships. However, I always overcome them in one way or another. For example, when I first walked the halls of Harlingen High School I entered as a shy but ambitions freshman with a lot of friends and unfortunately a lot of enemies. I was always put down due to play playing ability in band. I constantly tried to get better and better and that’s when freshman region auditions came along. I was excited to be able to actually compete with others so I can finally prove myself to my peers and teachers. I stumbled through my pre-audition and wasn’t able to audition and that killed me inside. I practiced so hard to not be able to audition. Although I was never any good I decided to
People are faced with many hindrances throughout their lives. They happen on a daily basis. Personally, I've been faced with more obstacles than I can count. I overcame them, though. Through my integrity and willpower, I solved these problems.
Starting my second semester in Modern I, I was really excited to see what new things I would learn and what new goals I needed to set for myself. I was definitely ready to push myself and work even harder than the semester before. During my second semester I set only two new goals and kept one from first semester. The two goals that I set included, getting stronger in my inversions and watching the alignment of my hip. The goal that I kept from last semester was making sure that I was coming to class alert and ready to work. After second semester mid-term, I started to work a lot on building strength in my arms. During class, Professor Hapke would always come over to me and fix my arms while I was in downward dog. To make sure I was gliding
In my culture, society looks down at mental illness and when news of mental illness gets out in the society, one’s reputation is pretty much destroyed. My elder brother, Imran, was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was a teenager. My family was still living in Bangladesh at the time and my brother’s illness was treated as a secret by my parents. My parents went above and beyond to hide my brother’s illness because we come from a culture that is quick to condemn parents for their children being abnormal, my family felt very protective of the fact that we had mental illness in our family. Family visitation and guests in our home were strictly monitored by my mother and my siblings and I were coached to make excuses for my brother. My brother’s illness shaped me as a person because I realized that I needed to be able to overcome the obstacles life throws in my way in order to take care of my family.
Phillip stated his best part about college is being able to learn, having professors who actually care and being in organizations that are made to help minorities succeed.

For example, to reach my goal of making it to Track and Field zones, I had to give up my time and put in effort and practice to reach my goal. Also, practice made my score go up by 0.5 metres which is extreme when it comes to jumping. Finally, training does not only helps us overcome an obstacle but it also helps us stay proficient or exemplary in a particular
Obstacles are imperative for feeling successful because they allow recognition of one’s weaknesses and teach one to overcome them. Furthermore, there is no such thing as success when there isn’t anything preventing it: how can I feel achieved if I have not ameliorated anything? According to Winston Churchill, "Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." In saying that, Churchill implies that one must go through failure before they reach success. Failure is when obstacles prevent a goal from being reached, which is the end result of having a weakness. When these flaws are analyzed, taken action against, and overcame; that is true success.
An obstacle can be turned into something good. How you may ask? There are many answers to this question. Perhaps one of them can be by looking at the positive side in the situation. This matters because it causes society to either overcome the situation or ignore it. If a problem is ignored, it will most certainly come two times more difficult than it was the first time.
