Organizational behavior is the study of conduct and attitude of people within an organization. According to Robbins & Judge (2015), the behavior of individuals working in an organization contributes to its level of performance. A systematic approach has been used in this paper to interpret the relationship among individuals working together in an organization for the purpose of achieving a common goal. There are a number of factors that influences the operations of an organization such as conflict, power, negotiation and politics. 1. What is Organizational Behavior? Study of the impact individuals, groups, and structure has on behavior within an organization. This is studied by managers to improve an organizations work environment to find methods to increase the bottom line. Basically it is a study of the way people act within an organization when exposed to different elements such as leadership styles, behaviors of others, and incentives.
There is a reason that organizational behaviour is such an important field of study, as it helps us to make sense of the world around us, not just what goes on inside organizations. (McShane & Steen, p.3). Organizational behaviour theories help us to re-evaluate ourselves within our distinct roles, which in turn helps us better understand our self-concept and what values are most significant in our lives. After completing the “Winter Survival Exercise”, it is evident as to why organizations value groups for every individual adds their own creativity, rationality and intuition to a problem or opportunity that presents itself. The absolute differences between the individual and group results that were generated, 68 and 36 respectively, showed how significant group effort can be as the group results were much closer to the results of the survival experts.
