Organisational behaviour is the study of people's behaviour and interaction in an organisation. The science of organisational behaviour is applied to people in an organisation.
The main focus OB is to study interaction within groups and understand all those cases where conflicts and negativity among people might arise.

Goals of OB
• Describe- The aim of OB is to describe human behaviour under different circumstances that might occur in an organisation.
• Understand- When faced with a certain behaviour shown by employees which affect the organisation, managers need to understand the reason behind such behaviour in order to solve problems.
• Predict- Managers will be able to predict employees behaviour. They can see a negative behaviour coming and channel an employees energies into productive work and also avoid unwanted situations.

OB would help them predict employees behaviour and especially avoid deviant and unproductive behaviour. The study of organisational behaviour helps a managers understand employee psychology and identify their needs regarding their work. By doing this managers can bring in motivated behaviour in employees which increases productivity, successfully achieving organisational goals at the same time increasing job satisfaction among staff. OB focuses on functions that are important to an organisation like effective communication, personality and perception. These elements are built around each other. OB identifies that each employee comes with his or her own personality and the management has to carefully communicate with them in order to avoid forming the wrong perception about itself in the employees mind.
