According to the article “North Korea submarine fires ballistic missile” published by BBC, North Korea has recently launched a missile, which didn’t raise our suspicion entirely, however in the end, North Korea was the one who had gained suspicion about the United States of America, and South Korea. The KN-11, being the type of missile that was shot, was launched from a submarine into the Sea of Japan. The missile traveled approximately 300 miles or 500 kilometers. Additionally, the location was reported back by the Japan PM as an air defence Identification zone. Consequently, the Japan PM, called it “A reckless act.” However, instead of investigating if this missile was an attack or a test, the U.S troops and south Korean troops went to basic protocol. While I cannot say the U.S. is any better , I believe that there was only a catastrophe due to a misunderstanding. Not just from North korea, but also, from the U.S and South Korea, themselves. I do agree with the Japanese Pm, when he calls the launched missile a reckless act. Additionally, I believe that North korea is being ignorant and careless, when they lack the communication to tell anyone they are constructing a missile test. This is there error, that caused conflict and trouble only for themselves. I chose this article, not just because it was the easiest to relate towards what we had learned, but because it was the easiest to get into a debate with. This incident, not only brings up the question: Should we go to war with North Korea, or have an invasion. Though, it also brings up the question: Instead of going to a military protocol whenever the fire a missile, why don't we get in touch and communicate more with them, if they are too ignorant or too benighted to come and communicate with the other members of the world. One can hide from the world or they can be part of
Wednesday, January 6, 2016, North Korea made an announcement that their hydrogen bomb testing was successful, resulting in “raised cries of indignation from the international community”. In the past the U.N had implemented sanctions against North Korea for continuing their development in nuclear weapons in 2006, 2009, 2013. Yet despite this, on Monday March 14, 2016, DPRK Today reported that a fifth test would be run and a new test involving ballistic missiles would also be included. Mr. Jongun had explained that the reason his country is now involving ballistic missiles is “. . . [so that] the warheads [are able] to survive heat and turbulence
North Korea, formally known as the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK), is a relic of the Cold War and the world’s last remaining totalitarian Stalinist dictatorship. Arguably the most secretive state in the world, North Korea poses a unique set of challenges to the world, especially to its democratic and capitalist neighbor, South Korea, formally known as the Republic of Korea (ROK). As one of the last remnants of the Cold War era, North Korea remains an anomaly of the international system due to its unpredictable nature and disregard for international norms. With the recent bombardment of the South Korean Island of Yeongpyong and the sinking of the warship Cheonan, tensions between the two Koreas are at the lowest point since
The U.S. helped to divide the Korean peninsula at the end of World War II, and then waged war against North Korea in the 1950s. Although the U.S. signed a peace agreement rather than a peace treaty with North Korea after the war, its policy toward the country changed. Instead of trying to overthrow the North Korea government, the U.S. government adopted a policy of containing communism. During the 1980’s, associations between North Korea and the U.S. start to take on a new diplomatic form. North Korea’s nuclear weapons program had become a pressing international issue
To begin with, If we were to go to war with North Korea they would be very pleased by it because they are not looking for any sort of compromise with the United States. According to the article, “The case for letting North Korea keep its nukes”, it states that from “the thinking here, as far as we can tell from the outside, is that you need to threaten North Korea with a credible
According to a recent article entitled “North Korea tests most powerful nuclear bomb yet” written by Angela Dewan on the CNN website, North Korea has successfully tested a ICMB-ready hydrogen bomb. In her article, Angela Dewan explains how relations between North Korea and the US have become worse to the point that military options are being considered to deal with the recent successful underground hydrogen bomb test by North Korea. According to the article, the nuclear device was “more than eight times more powerful than the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945,” The article also explains how relations have become worse since the death of Kim Jong Il the father of the current dictator Kim Jong Un. Both South Korea and the United States
On Sunday, January eleventh, it was reported that the U.S. sent a B-52 bomber to fly over North Korea along with two fighter jets. The reason for this is because North Korea stated that they were successful in testing a hydrogen bomb. They also stated that they tested this hydrogen bomb in order to defend themselves against the U.S. from starting a nuclear war. Also, the fighter jets that accompanied the B-52 were South Korean fighter jets. It has not been said yet if the statement about the hydrogen bomb was confirmed or not.
Since the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA), or Iran Deal, was signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015, there has been widespread debate as to whether the agreement would yield benefits on both sides. Exhibited by the world’s quandary involving North Korea, discussions concerning restrictions on a nuclear program are no simple feat. Consequently, when a compromise is reached that results in the preservation of peace at a minimal cost, such as the JCPoA, it must be accepted as a success. Stated in Jeffrey Lewis’s article Scuttling the Iran Deal will Lead to Another North Korea, North Korea recently tested a missile that “flew 3,700 kilometers in altitude before falling into the sea of Japan” (Lewis, Jeffrey, Foreign Policy). With Kim
For the North Korea, South Korea was not unified by Kim Il-sung, on the other hand, it is also a pity that the United Nation Army didn’t destroy North Korea for South Korea. For the United States, the initial objective that saving South Korea has achieved, however, the strategic objective of occupying the whole Korea did not achieve. It means the United States’ attempt to break the Communist camp failed. Furthermore, the North Korea that was not destroyed during the war has already become the most horrible country in the world and a trouble maker. The United States and its allies are threatened by the troubles he makes like rocket test and nuclear weapons test. For China, a large number of Chinese soldiers fell in battle, however, China’s almost same to the United States that its initial objective of saving North Korea has achieved then the strategic objective of expelling Capitalist camp force from East Asia mainland. Only the Soviet Union did not lose much and achieved the initial objective of saving North Korea. The war that last three years did not change anything and the Korea Peninsula is still divided. The death of soldiers and people looks like
By the way, didn’t Korea have any faults? Both sides are responsible for this incident. There is no right and there is no wrong. So I want to say Korea’s faults which most people are reluctant to say about.
After reading the articles about the North Korean missile launch on August 29th of 2017, Both news sources portray bias in their own particular ways but Fox news seems to side. Fox states a quote from Trump talking about all options are on the table due to the fact that North korea just shot a missile over Japan. He talks about how the world is getting the message from North korea is threatening. The misle showed that it could reach Guam if it really wanted to. Where the Washington Post states that Trump and the President of Japan spoke about how they need to put more pressure on North Korea due to their actions. Due to the test they did it looks aggressive to Washington, Seoul and Tokyo. The pentagon is doing
The North Korean government continues to financially fund the research and testing of nuclear and ballistic missiles. Little information is known about the North Korean nuclear program and has been made available to foreign nations due to the secrecy and isolation of international affairs. The threat of a nuclear strike from North Korea has become an increasingly serious matter for many nations including the U.S. and its Asian allies, Japan and South Korea. Currently, there are only nine nations known by intelligent analysis that possesses the resources to manufacture nuclear weapons which do include the U.S. However, North Korea is the only nation in the 21st century to conduct a nuclear missile test that has been reported by North Korean
sent B-2 and B-52 bombers able to carry nuclear weapons to South Korea during the current crisis to calm our ally's growing security concerns while telegraphing a warning to the North. Whether such an approach will remain effective in the future is unclear. Washington's moment of truth may come if North Korea develops nuclear-armed missiles able to reach the United States and South Koreans ask themselves whether the U.S. will risk sacrificing Los Angeles to protect Seoul. Many South Koreans doubt American reliability even today, despite 50 years of alliance. And some cite the distressing example of Washington pulling out of Vietnam during the 1970s. With confidence in U.S. security guarantees already in question, an emboldened Pyongyang could erode that confidence even further. Fourth is an increased risk of war by miscalculation . Pyongyang may believe that its nuclear arsenal gives it more freedom to conduct limited military provocations such as the 2010 sinking of a South Korean ship and artillery attack on the South's Yeonpyeong Island without reprisal. That was true then, although Washington seems to have restrained the South from launching a serious military response to those actions for fear of triggering a second Korean war. However, now Seoul is working with the U.S. on a new proactive
People of Earth need another option to live in case of a disaster. North Korea’s recent actions are a good example of a possible nuclear disaster. According to foxnews.com, North Korea launched a missile at the United States on April 15, 2017, but thankfully failed. This is just the most recent of many threats from the country.
Moreover, DPRK’s foreign policy since the 1970s focused on forceful unification of Korean Peninsula and spreading communist revolution in the South. It has to be remembered that an official doctrine till the end of the 1970s ideologically and practically postulated communization of the south on the basis of military intervention . Since that time North Korea placed its spies in the East Asia and started sheltering revolutionists and terrorists from all over the world, among others nine members of radical left-wing group called the Japanese Fraction of the Red Army who skyjacked a Japanese airplane to Pyongyang in March 1970 . Furthermore, North Korea has been for many years developing its nuclear program and numerously threatening to use it what obviously attracts attention of the whole world .
This article deals with the United States and its attempts to deal with the dangerous matters of North Korea. Some of the problems that were brought up in this article were North Korea’s plan to restart a plutonium based nuclear program at Yongbyon, North Korea’s plan to build a new highly enriched uranium (HEU) nuclear program, and the tension that emerged between the United States and South Korea. Even though many problems were occurring, there were some positive things that were happening at the time. The United States began negotiating with North Korea and South Korea about establishing railroad links, demining portions of the demilitarized zone, allowing athletes to compete in the Asian games, and allowing abductees to visit Japan.
