1. How will you use knowledge and skills you’ve developed in this class in your academic career / life? Give examples.
I have mostly gained different writing skills in image based inquiry paper, I didn’t have a lot of skills about academic writing but through the entire semester I was able to learn how to do research paper. I learnt that before conducting a research, you have to set questions that you need to solve and then in your paper you will be talking about all those questions and try to give some solution based on your understanding and to other people who have done the same research before. I was able to learn how to cite my work in MLA style, which was the most challenging to me. I am not doubting that the skills I have learnt in this class will help me to do much better in my other writing project in future.
2. How has your writing changed or developed?
My kind of writing before, were that one with a lot of grammatical error, lack of punctuation and not able to explain my point of view. Now I am a writer who can write a paper with good use of punctuation with every clear detailed point of view in my paper. I never know how I can cite the work of other people which would lead to plagiarism if you don’t cite someone’s work, but now I am able to do citation of my work.

If I were to teacher this class next semester, I would put much effort in assigning book to each and every one in class based on their choice(interest of reading) and then everyone share what he/she read in that book. The reason why I think it would be helpful is that, when you read a lot you get to know more vocabulary and different style of writing and that is most of us are still facing as a challenge in their writings . I would also emphasize on use of transition words in academic
Those that write always have a writing process whether they know it or not. A writing process can be defined by the way an individual gears up for the project at hand. It can be as simple as finding a favorite chair to write in or the act of planning out the writing beforehand. My own personal writing process varies from task to task with a few constants. I generally start my writing process by first reconciling my project; figuring out the best way to express the needs of the work. I do not write down notes or an outline in regards to the project mostly relying on winging it so as not to get hung up on sticking to the outline. I will my best to knock out large chunks of the project before taking any breaks unless I hit a wall, and
Teachers, parents, and friends often tell students exactly what the writing process should entail and how long it should take. However, the older I get, the more I realize that the writing process varies not only from person to person, but also from one writing project to the next. Throughout my years of life, I have written countless papers, ranging from a persuasive speech to an extensive research paper, and each project requires an altered version of my personal writing process. While each individual has his own writing process, there can be many similarities between different writing processes. Finding one’s individual writing process takes trial, error, and repetition. When an individual finally uncovers his unique writing process, better thought, work, and writing is produced.
The writing of my college essay was quite a process. Normally for me writing comes rather easy, I do not struggle putting my ideas on paper. At first I thought that this essay would be simple to do and not be very stressful. It turned out to be quite the opposite in fact, just brainstorming was a struggle for me. It was difficult for me to think about my life and how it is special. To me, the events that have shaped me do not seem that relevant, at 18 I had never really payed much attention to how certain things affected me, I just lived my life. eventually , with the help of Mary, I came to the realization that having my summer taken away from me due to a broken foot had really changed my life philosophy, it truly changed who I was and my outlook on life.
The first semester of W131 has given me the chance to become more familiar with my strengths and weaknesses in my writing process. One of the main things I contribute to my progression in writing is practice and revision. W131 has given me the resources I need to become an effective writer by pushing me to think deeper about what writing process works best for me. To find what writing process works for me, I have experimented with different writing techniques along with alternative reading techniques to allow me to retain more detail. Although I improved some skills during the first half of W131, I still have many skills that could be critiqued to enhance my writing process and essays.
One of the fears that I have about the process of writing is the inability to write clear and concise sentences that the reader can understand. Sentence clarity frightens me as I have what I want to say in my head, however, it does not always come out perfectly when I put the thought into writing. When transferring my thoughts into writing I typically form run on sentences and mix my words together. This is where my fear of clarity becomes an issue. When writing clearly, I often assume that my reader understands or has a prior knowledge on my topic. Typically, this leads me to form incomplete sentences or the leaving out of an essential piece of information that gives the sentence its meaning. Along with the fear of the inability to write
Each small scenarios that happen in our live can have either a major or minor impact on them. For me, it had a major impact. The way I go about writing now is more clear. I put more thought into my thinking process first. Before I decide what I want to write about I make a list. The top part of my list are the things that are either important to me or just easy to talk about, as long as it stands true to the topic or prompt. This is important because beforehand I just picked something and wrote the bare minimum I needed to have to get an A or B in high school ,which is not very hard with certain teachers. From changing this one step my whole writing process became easier. This scenario, did start off very damaging. My attitude towards
Writing process is long road and sometimes it is difficulty. The most challenging aspect of creating this genre piece was the use of sources through in-text citations. I did not want to make the same mistake so it took long time to correct my mistakes. What I have learned about myself as a writer is that I should not the lack of confidence to guide me through my writing. The confidence is powerful tool for any writer. The thing which I would might done differently if I had more time was to do more research on my topic. There were no weakest area of my writing. The strongest writing in my composer’s Statement is the solution of water scarcity. I would give myself an A for the Composer’s Statement because I know I met ten standards of mastery.
I realized that this class would be beneficial when our first assignment was to adjust and send our resumes to the professor. I am a graduating senior, and this was a great opportunity for me to update my resume before I started applying for jobs. We also had to write a cover letter a few weeks ago, and now that I am applying for jobs, it was helpful to review what makes a good cover letter.
During this second semester, I learned about many techniques that enhanced my writing. I cannot believe that my first year of college is over because it seems like yesterday I attended my first class. I will use this techniques throughout the rest of my life to make my paper stronger and more professional. As I continue to learn I will add techniques I learn in the future to make my writing even stronger. I believe my writing is strong, but can
“Text” is an interesting lens to look at writing through. There are literally brand-new spaces for writing being created by new technology and innovations still to be made in existing spaces.
An essay is a section of writing that systematically examines and assesses a subject matter or concern. Basically, an essay is intended to get an individual’s educational view on a specific material. The essay can be true-life. Meaning the author of the essay is trying to say the fact, not only amuse you. A decent lengthy essay ought to be made up of an introductory paragraph and visibly state the subject matter to be discussed in the main body. The points should be plainly specified in individual paragraphs and illustrated or warranted. A closing paragraph summarizes the key facts of the paper, in which you repeat your view or give a stable thought of the subject matter. My previous essays were missing some of the material mentioned. For example, I would watch television and try to write an essay or I would limit the amount of words used on my essay paper.
Within this experience of beginning my essay I desired to quit many times. I wanted to quit continuously until i used a strategy taught the day that this writing process was assigned. The strategy was to write anything I felt like writing and allowing it to lead in any direction it ended up being. I choose to write what I did before beginning the process of which i will be sharing throughout this essay. As Maya Angelou once said ‘Nothing will work unless you do”, I began to take this process at ease and understand that I don't have to perfect the essay when I was first beginning. Time has allowed me to complete my first essay in the WBIS course, elaborate on my writing experience and accept the process
My normal writing process is something I would think is close to what some others do with some variation mixed in near the end. I get the assignment then figure out the date that it is due, if it is less than 4 pages and more than a week away I don’t worry about the assignment and just put it away. If it is due in a week or less or more than 3 pages, I will start to go over the rubric and figure out the main idea that I want to work with for this assignment. After I figure out the central idea that my paper will be working off of, I figure out the sub topics that will be implemented into it and if needed, an argument against my paper. Normally for research I use different articles on the internet that seem similar to how I would think and ask
The greatest writing accomplishments, I noticed in my persuasive and research papers were in connecting to the topic and lead-ins. In the research paper I improved in leading into the topic. My research paper was about cloning and in it I stated, “Ian WIlmut, a embryologist, and Keith Campbell, a cell biologist and embryologist, state in their book, The
Over the past few months, I have learned several different writing techniques. While all of the different types of papers were difficult to write, I believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact, I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great deal. It is true that I have not had very much writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. Sometimes, I do admit, it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I am a proficient writer.
