According to Webster’s Dictionary, leadership is the power or ability to lead other people, the act or instance of leading. I believe that Leadership is an art, the art to get others to follow and accomplish a common goal or task in a harmonic manner. A leader can be shown in all kinds of shapes and forms. To be a great leader many people believe it consists of modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart. With having such a demanding major, you can sometimes find yourself getting down and becoming stressed. I have had to experience teamwork of all forms through out my eighteen years and faith has defiantly gotten me through. I was once told “faith begins where your comfort zone ends.” With my career goal is to become a nurse; just not ole any nurse, a great one. My strengths are very important to have. Faith is needed to help get through tough days and to also spiritually help your patients. I feel like whenever you do a task it should be done with integrity. Being a nurse, you have to be strong-minded and also able to heal and comfort mentally, emotionally, and physically, all great signs of a leader. You always have to remember that you can’t always do everything alone. Teamwork is very important in the healthcare field. Each job is important and is connected to one another. Leadership can mean something different to everyone. To me leadership encompasses many things. Leadership is being able to motivate others to achieve. Leadership is listening to what others have to say and acting on it. Leadership is using interpersonal skills to communicate with others. Leadership is being a good example to others.
Being a leader is more than simply holding a leadership position or having the ability to lead. Everyone is capable of being a leader, but not everyone exercises his or her leadership abilities. Each person’s idea of leadership is different. My idea of leadership has developed over time, and being a member of the President’s Leadership Class has helped me develop my philosophy of leadership further than what it was two months ago. My personal philosophy of leadership is the ability to effect change through leading by example, taking initiative, and encouraging others.

Without leadership many would just follow one another's actions like blind sheep. The definition of leadership comes from within each person. Every person has his or her own interpretation of how a leadership should be defined. This definition most likely comes from past experiences under leadership or being the leader. My personal definition is very lengthy because I feel like leadership is very important.

For example, say your 4-H club is dwindling in numbers. You have an idea on how to keep the people who are in it interested and how to build the club up again, you should share your ideas and become proactive.
