My Name- Everyone has to have a name. My name is Ciara. A name is meant to give you a sense of belonging, it is meant to have value. But my name, it isn't for me. It doesn’t describe me. It wasn’t picked for any particular reason. It means ‘ little dark haired one’. Although, I am not darked haired, nor am I short. I have blonde hair and stand tall. My name is always pronounced wrong. People call me see-air-ah, but do not know I have Irish roots and in Gaelic it's Key-rah. My name isn’t for me. 2. My Toy From Childhood- Cludo. Cludo was a gift I got for my 5th birthday. Cludo was the stuffed pink poodle that I dragged around with me everywhere from the moment I got it. Cludo came to bed with me, Cludo ate dinner with me, Cludo came to my
Then there’s me, Rosalind or Rose or Ross or Rosy, whatever. If you haven’t noticed that all my brothers and sisters names even my parents start with a “J”? Well if you didn’t I did it makes me feel like I don’t belong. Mom tells me she wanted to name me something special so that I would be different because when
Why do people get made fun of for their names when they have no control over them? Firoozeh Dumas’ “The “F Word”” tells about how she gets made fun of for her name. It also is about how Dumas feels about her name. She uses many examples of times in her life when her name has caused problems and made situations difficult for her. Dumas is from Iran, but moved to America when she was young. Her name is “Firoozeh,” which is very different from American names, so many people couldn’t pronounce it. Many of the children in her classes made fun of her name and didn’t want to talk to her because it was so different.
“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold (Proverbs 22:1).” On January 5th, 2000, I was given the name Lauren Riley Crouch. I already knew a few facts about my name. I knew that I was named Riley after one of the men on my mother’s side of my family. I knew that there were going to be many different spellings of the name Riley, but I never knew that there would be over twenty different variations of spellings (Best Little Baby). I was excited to research what states my names were the most popular, and I was very interested in finding out the meaning of my names. I was curious about whether there would be any celebrities with my last name, Crouch. The first steps I took to gather my information
Though she admits that there has been a change in the society in the recent past where individuals are now more willing to learn and accept the ethnic names of others, there is still major social problems which affect people who use ethnic names. That other children had corrupted her name to something else may be indicative of a form of bullying, which has been proved to have disastrous effects on its victims in the long run. Rather than be a victim of social awkwardness, it would be easier to adopt a name which is not
There once was a girl named Bailey, she was known for her rich family. She lived with both her parents and her three siblings; Alexander, Christian and Dominic. Alexander, 20, was the oldest of the siblings. Christian and Dominic, 19, were twin brothers. Although they were identical twins and looked so much alike, you could differentiate between them. Christian always acted like a buffoon anywhere the family would go. Sometimes he would use his silliness to get a girl. On the other hand, Dominic always kept to himself, he would give people a baleful look when they stare or try to start a conversation with him.
When I was born, my grandma and my dad wanted to name me Reea (some old indian actress I think). My mom suggested the name Gurrose. My grandparents liked it, but they also had their pride so they didn’t let go of Reea. They ended up naming me Reea Gurrose Kaur Gahla (although Reea was a part of my name, everyone called me Gurrose). Then, 3 years later, we came to Canada and although my name was beautiful, a lot of people had trouble pronouncing it.
3 births and a death. Something unique about my name is that it’s Hebrew for “like God.” Also, Michelle’s are, as stated by GWF27, destined for greatness. I find that interesting because I never knew anything about my name until today. This information sort of makes me want to strive to do better, and to do more. I do in fact have a nickname. It’s one that originated from family. My nickname for family ONLY, is Mimi. There’s nothing special behind that name, it didn’t come from a brave ancestor who saved the lives of many. It was just “easier to say,” as stated by my mother. A fun fact about this nickname is that it’s actually Mexican slang for sleep. No one outside my family is allowed to call my by that nickname. It makes me extremely uncomfortable when they do. Others, such as friends or educators, are welcomed to call me nearly anything. Some of my friends are calling me “Mitch” or an odd sounding way to pronounce my actual name. “Grandma Mitch (an inside joke),” and “Mom,” also stuck with me for awhile. One name, that isn’t a nickname, just a mispronunciation of my actual name is also staying with me. It’s when people pronounce Michelle as MEEchelle. It does not tick me off, although I do prefer
It was three in the evening and Floyd, also known as, “Flo” waited patiently in Orleans Parish Central Lockup for his name to be called. He was waiting to be released on a DWI charge. The judge sentenced him to two years in state prison. Heavily intoxicated Flo lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another vehicle. That accident paralyzed him from the waist down and critically injured the woman driving the other vehicle. Now, it was finally time to go home. He knew no matter how long it took, he had to have patience or the Deputies would prolong his release. As he sat there, all he could think about was getting home to his daughter, Nikki and wife, Ariana. Two long years in jail and freedom was at his finger tips. Ariana would never bring
How do you feel about your name.I like my name. But there is some good things about it, the good things is it is somewhat unique the bad think are the nicknames..
My favorite toy is the mouse I brought from Punta Gorda. I love to carry the mouse by the tail all through the house, but I worry if I leave him in a room Miss Kitty will find him and take
Like Diadem, I feel I've suffered an awful name as well. Delainy. I've renamed myself, Delphi. Don't ask why. I liked it. Don't judge. I feel the name Delainy never suited me. Sure it’s pretty and all, but I don’t see myself as just a pretty face.
Names mean a lot they hold power. Peoples names are their identity it’s important that you respect others and there cultures when it comes to pronouncing names. You should put forth the effort to learn others names the right way instead of calling them something that isn’t their name .Like in the book were reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings .
My full name is Campbell Keahi Lord, I feel like my first name is kind of boring there is no fancy story to it ( believe me i’ve tried to find one ). My parents just wanted to find a unisex name that they could live with. My last name I feel is a little more interesting and I get asked a lot of questions about it, but the name that I think is the coolest is my hawaiian middle name, Keahi.
I love the meaning behind a person’s name and I love uncommon names because I feel they resonate more than names you hear more frequently. I named my son Chance because it was not a name commonly used and meant, “Having good fortune”. I still had the baby name book from when I was pregnant with my son and decided to finger through it looking for ideas. I came across the page where I had listed possible girl names that had caught my attention and at the top of the list was the name Halo. That was it! I searched the pages looking for the meaning behind the name and found it means, “Having a blessed aura.” She had been my halo from the beginning, before I even knew what I had or how lucky I was, the name was so fitting! I played around with many middle names trying to fit in which one sounded best after Halo and before Rae, which was to be her second middle name. Ultimately it was my youngest sister that suggested I try using Scarlett and Halo Scarlett Rae became the name I chose for
Lauren, Lauren, bo-bauren. Banana-fana fo-fauren, Fee-fi-moo-mauren. Lauren! Names are more than something students learn at the beginning of a school year. A person’s name allows one to make prejudices about someone. My name Lauren fits me well. The history of the name Lauren, the meaning, and the personality associated with Lauren all concur with who I am. A person’s name defines who they are, as Lauren defines whom I am.
