If you ask any kid who their hero is they will most likely say their parents. And in my case, it’s still my dad. He has overcome a lot of adversities in his life that makes him who he is today, which is my hero. A hero doesn’t have to slay dragons sometimes all they have to do is follow their dreams. They all must go through some difficult times to help them understand that they want something better for themselves and as motivation to get there. My dad grew up in a small town called Verona, North Dakota where he and his family farmed. I remember him always telling me when I was a kid, “when I was your age I would have to feed the pigs and they were so mean that I would throw the food in and run.” I think he knew from a young age that this wasn’t something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He never liked the town either and how fast gossip spread. But his dad was pretty admit on giving all the kids a piece of land so they could keep the farm in the family. My dad was torn on whether he should follow his dreams of getting out of the small town or stay for his family. He ultimately decided to go to college and follow his dreams, by going to NDSU for business. His family wasn’t too thrilled with his choice to leave, but he knew it was right for him. While going to college he worked at a part-time job and during the summers he had two jobs. Then during the fall he would help his family during harvest. Though the classes were tough and he had a lot on his plate he knew it was for a better future and whenever the going got tough he would remind himself that he could be cleaning out a horse stables or working with tractors and it always got him back on track. This really motivates me to go after my dreams and know that everything will work out. He supports my sister and me to follow our dreams and push our limits. Even though it took him five years to graduate, since he missed school for harvest each year, he graduated from NDSU. He got a job working for Great Plains Software where he started a job that he really enjoy. But since he was just out of college and was new at this place he worked constantly. He would only come home to eat and shower and then go back to work until the wee hours in the
"I remember coming home from school and receiving an email notification. When I opened it and read my scholarship reward letter, I was honestly speechless. Tears slid down my face as I stood there in my bedroom telling myself how my life had just taken a turn. Playing the scenarios of college life and the great opportunity in pursuing a career; I was honestly the happiest that I had ever been at that point because there is no other greater gift thank the opportunity to continue education and be successful in this world. I was going to do it, not just for myself, but for my parents as well. I have everything to owe to them because they were the ones who always supported me and encouraged me to study in the early stages of my life." This was truly a touching story; however, because we always hear about the great moments but rarely about the rough patches, we decided to ask him a couple of questions concerning his tough times. We asked him if there were any moments where he felt like it was too much for him, and his response was as follows: "Of course, like every college student experiences, I had times were I found a class difficult and I almost gave up, but whenever I would feel that way, I would stop and think about the day I received that email and how my life had changed forever. It would motivate me to continue pushing myself and that I was there for a
decided to drop out of St. Olaf College in Minnesota after a few weeks. He was forced to work
When he was younger he went into the Army. My dad quickly learned his job and worked hard. He also worked for the state when he got out of the Army, trying to provide for his family. Fast forward some years and my mom had a job. On days she worked she would have to go to work very early, and my dad would have to do my hair and help to get me ready for school.
Also on top of that, all the grants that he applied for, fell through and he was paying for his entire college education out-of-pocket. He says that this was a very stressful time in his life. He was either working or studying 24/7. My dad explains his college experience as not the ordinary “party and have fun with friends” he says that his college life was very difficult and even the opposite of that. A lot of the people he went to college with thought he was “odd” and he mostly spent his time off “being an
He has an amazing family that he works hard to support that consisted of his supportive wife and children. His wife is a well-educated individual who has an overwhelming strong willpower to do what she sets out to do. She is a woman who went through all of high school knowing that a 4.0 GPA would be needed to accomplish her dreams and being the valedictorian was the only way she could see it happening. She went to Henderson State University to get her bachelor’s degree in business and while doing so she kept an outstanding grade point average all the way. Equally important, was her unbreakable willpower that would see nothing as impassable and would stop only when she achieved success. She was so driven that she went through college while taking care of her kids and keeping a part-time job. When in college she had her second child and it was a handful
Like most human beings on this planet if ours I was born and raised by some other human. Most call them parents but depending on the situation it could be an aunt or even a total stranger. Whoever they are this person is crucial to your survival when you’re immature enough to care for yourself. A hero is someone that impacts your existence more than the many other strangers that shaped the world before you can. A hero exists currently in this time and place teaching you, caring, and sharing wisdom. Be it your grandmother, father, teacher, or best friend. Hero’s shape your personality and give you the tools needed to carve your future from stone.
I think and believe that when your parents help you do things, you can accomplish a lot more. The person who helped me do this was my dad, my hero. A hero is someone who helps you do something or saves you from something.
he wasn't accepted in any college due to failing most of his classes and his mom wasn't happy about that, so of course she forced him to find a job and think of his future, but the thing is he really didn't know what to do with his future.
For example, my hero is my dad because when I was nine years old, he got sick. My dad went to the doctor, and the doctors said that he was three days with the burst appendix. In that time I was living in New Laredo. Therefore I was in school when all of that happens. I was scared because, I thought that my dad would not resist the operation but, thank God he did. He is my hero because he is the one that has always been there by my side when I need him. The doctors were surprised because they tell my dad that out of 10 that have the appendix burst only one survives and my dad is alive. Now it had passed five years since that happens and he is great. The heroes are in all around the world to help other people who need help with something. I think that around the world all the people are real and all of the people are heroes in one way or another, but some of them are passing through a difficult
Financially he couldn’t afford to stay in school, and I couldn’t help him financially in any way, so he took out a loan to pay for housing which created a debt for him. He then took on a job at McDonald after the football program dropped. As he worked, he never gave up, he began to reach out to various college football programs, hoping to receive a scholarship. A year went by, he didn’t receive any feedback from the many schools he contacted. He became despair, and moved back home getting a job at U-Haul, helping me with household bills and other household
We all have that one hero that means a lot to you. It’s probably someone from your family or someone else that did something special to you.like my mom is my big hero. A big hero because she has done a lot for all of my brothers and i.
We all have heroes, some are fictional like Superman, Batman, or Abraham Lincoln. My hero is, my dad. Ever since I was born, I have lived mainly with my dad. When I was a kid, me and my dad lived in Florida. On the weekends we would go out boating. Crystal clear water all around, the smell of the sea filling your nose, the not as pleasant taste of salt water in your mouth. Going out on the ocean was the best part of being there. When we moved we lost all that. We went to Greybull, Wyoming, a small town where my father grew up. I made a few friends and we all had lots of fun together. My dad was usually working, fixing the house or out on a job. Most of the time he took me with him and I helped out. During the winter we would go out to the
I believe that everyone has a hero, whether they know them personally or not. Mine is my dad. He is my hero because of all the things he’s help me do, and I’m going to tell you about one of them.
Long story short, I encouraged him to go back to school. He showed interest as well. Knowing that I have a full plate with my own school work and kids, I still felt a pull to help him by putting
When asked who my hero is, it is hands down my grandma. With everything she had endured and still kept a smile on her face, makes me push forward and realize my life isn’t all that rough.
