The Philippines isn't a very common vacation spot for most people, but that makes Mindanao, the Philippines so much better having experienced something most people haven't. There are many things that people can't see going to places like Florida, but Mindanao has magnificent beaches and islands not too far away. Mindanao has some important facts like many small islands make up just the one island of Mindanao. The beaches near the islands of Hinatuan are gorgeous and very relaxing, taking the crazy lives that were left behind while taking a vacation. The beaches are crystal clear as if they're in a magical place. Mindanao has everything someone would want to see while going on vacation mountains, beaches, and volcanoes just an all-around paradise. The official language of the Philippines is Filipino but the second language here is English. English is typically every country's second language, what makes this place different about having English is the second language is that if they are in college or have a degree they, phillipines will be able to speak fluent English. This is because the college professors speak in English to teach. Everyone who lives in the Philippines is called Filipinos, most of them have a religion of roman catholic and that's around eighty percent of the population and five percent of the population is Muslim. The people who live in the Philippines have beautiful places to see (“Ethnicity”). The Enchanted River,is located by the island of Hinatuan.
The first organized religion that came to the Philippines was Islam. This created one of the first great cultural chasms among the islands. When the Spanish landed on the shores, Roman Catholicism spread like wildfire. As “adopted” as it was, Catholicism was much more on the influential in the north, while the southern islands still mostly practiced Native religions or Islam. During this time, the languages used to promote these various religions varied from the indigenous languages, Spanish, Latin, Arabic, and hundreds more. This only served to drive wedges between the population. Topping off the list for fissures in communication, a universal language was never imposed on the Philippines. This meant that the majority of Filipinos never learned a word of spanish, even at the height of the empire. This arguably caused a collapse in tradition and cultural
At the age of eight, the rest of my family moved to the U.S, it was not a completely foreign country to us, American movies were played in Filipino theaters and I’ve heard plenty of stories about the country through my parents. Surprisingly, although Philippines is one of the third world country, almost everyone can speak English due the fact that English is one the primary languages spoken alongside
The Philippines have various cultures because it was colonized by different countries which influenced most of the cultures. From what I experienced people in the Philippines are always open. They always have a warm welcome whenever they meet new people, they are always open to making new friends from what I have experienced. I think there is racism in the Philippines but I have never seen it or I have not experienced it. The people I associated with are not racist, they were very open, whenever there is someone that is not the same race. When it comes to families, our families treat each other like relatives and we trust each other. I grew up with Filipino and a little bit of Portuguese culture since my dad was Portuguese. I say that because there are some things we do differently and how my dad acts or protects us. We had the opportunity to socialize with people in our neighborhoods, we would always play outside like tagu taguan, agawan base, patintero and more. Tagu Taguan is a Filipino version of hide and seek, agawan base is basically there are two teams who has their own bases and
When I was in 9th grade, my family went on a missions trip to Nicaragua. This was not an ordinary one though. Instead of just going for a week or two, we went down for six months as a whole family. My parents, my brother, my 3 sisters and I all went into this experience wanting to serve, but not knowing quite what it would look like. When we got there, we encountered extreme poverty unlike anything we had seen here in the United States. While there, we painted countless schools, did art projects at countless others, worked with the local lending libraries, and simply loved on the kids down there to the best of our abilities. When the trip was over, I left with a feeling that I had somehow failed. I felt as though I had not given my all to
This is something intresting because in coming 10-15 days (on August 10’ 2017), me & my husband are going for a vacation to Dominican Republic (Punta Cana). So I am so much excited to write about this in this exam. After very long time we both are planning for a vacation. This is an official tour of my husband but he extended his tour from Aug 13’ 2017- Aug 16’ 2017 to Aug 10’ 2017- Aug 16’ 2017, so that we can have more time together to spend & enjoy. We have never been there so we are very excited & looking forward to this trip. We have heard about this place a lot. It’s a really beautyful place to relax & refresh or you can say reenergise yourself.
This year on Spring Break my family went on vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We traveled there a couple of times when I was younger, but don’t have any memories except for the flight. I want to share two favorite things that were awesome about our trip, the food and the gift shops. I really enjoyed both of them because the food tasted delicious and the gift shops had a bunch of cool items such as chocolate, medication, beach towels, and a lot of expensive jewelry and antiques that just cost too much.
The Philippines geography includes: 7,107 islands, mountains, rivers, low lands, and a tropical marine climate. In the Philippines, there are plentiful genres of music, for example: tinkling, Christian music, rock, acoustic, and traditional Filipino music. The Philippines is home to over 120,000,000 Filipino citizens. Within the Philippines the industries comprise of manufacturing, fishing, rice, garments, metals, electronics, and shipbuilding. The official dress for the men in the Philippines is a barong (Which I've worn before) and a mestiza for woman. The Philippines is heavily filled with devout Catholics. Like most people from the Philippines, my family is very faith
The current state of the Philippines is still not all tha great.. The Philippines was predicted to be one of the most richest countries in Asia. They are the poorest country in Asia. After world war II the Philippine economy did poorly because during the rule of Ferdinand Marcos, billions of dollars were spent on the wrong things.
On Thursday September 21 Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico head on which caused catastrophic damage to the island. But that's not even the worst of it. The next day on Friday, September 22 reports that the Guajataca dam had been broken as a result of the hurricane the previous day. Millions of people are going through what could essentially be the most devastating time of their life. These citizens need all the support and help they can get and that's why if I had a ticket to go anywhere in the world I would go to Puerto Rico.
Indonesia is a country that is described as having a beautiful scenery and is gorgeous place to live. This doesn’t mean that something with a beautiful scenery does not have any flaws that come with it. Indonesia consists of a group of islands located in Southeast Asia and is between the Indian and the Pacific Ocean. The proper language that is spoken is known as Indonesian or “Bahasa Indonesian”. This is the most common language that is spoken in Indonesia; but is not the only one that is used. Indonesian was first developed in the year 1945, when the declaration of Indonesian independence was first drawn up. Although Indonesian is known as the official language, it is actually the second most used language in Indonesia. Most of the population speaks languages such as Minangkabau or Javanese. These languages are typically spoken at households and the public. Indonesian on the other hand is commonly used at work and in school. The ethnic groups that are usually found in Indonesia include: Javanese (45%), Sundanese (14%), Madurese (7.5%), Coastal Malays (7.5%), and other (26%). Out of these ethnic groups the main religion that is practiced is Muslim (88%) followed by Protestant (5%), Roman Catholic (3%), Hindu (2%), Buddhist (1%) and other (1%). In extension to Indonesians, they are a mix of Chinese, European, Indian, and Malay and even though there population consists of mainly Muslims, they also have a vast amount of Christian Protestants, Catholics, Hindus, and Buddhists.
As graduation approaches we are all faced with our plans for the next step in our lives. Right now, I plan to attend the University of Evansville in the fall to study Nursing and minor in Spanish. While at UE I plan to study abroad during the first semester of my senior year in England. I am especially looking forward to this opportunity because while in England I will be able to travel extensively throughout Europe while also continuing my education. I also plan to travel to a Spanish speaking country, most likely the Dominican Republic. This is something that I am both looking forward to and nervous for because this will be a very cultural trip that will also presents it challenges as far as the language barrier that will allow me to grow.
There are more than 3000 local languages are spoken in Indonesia so that this country is known for its lingua franca, but instead of that Indonesia has an official national language (called Bahasa Indonesia) to unite all Indonesian so that they can understand each other.
The Central American coast and island countries are some of the more scenic and relaxed places in the world. The Caribbean offers the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. These are my three favorite island destinations I’d be most excited about visiting. The white sandy beaches and cool palm shades of the coastal lowlands make you never want to leave. The thatch cabanas and bungalows litter the beach front as far as the eye can see. Tropical foods such as sauteed shrimp and saucy tilapia pull you in like a scents ghastly hand wavering you toward it. Fruity cocktails and rum punch quench your thirst and help end an amazing day on the beach. And when the auburn and violet rays of the sunset arise from the horizon you can rest your weary head on a strong cloth hammock strung between the palms.

There are certain memories that we have that we can remember like they happened yesterday. Many of those memories that have special meaning to me were of family vacations when I was young growing up with my brothers and sisters. Family memories are important to many of us because they take us back to a time or place that was special. One particular family vacation I remember vividly, and it’s a story I have shared with my kids on many occasions. Over the 40 or more years since that memorable vacation, I still smile and think how lucky I was growing up with a mother and father that did everything to give their kids an unforgettable memory.
