The fundamental part of professional development is to keep qualifications relevant and up to date to enhance progress and understanding. Higher level teacher assistants (HLTA) need further specialisation and qualification dues to their direct work in teaching and instruction. At present I work part time in a school as a special educational need learning support assistant (SEN LSA) to assist a girl with moderate learning difficulties. There are many positives advantages to my current employment state, however I do feel like I am not developing different skills and there are no variety of special educational needs children that I can work with. National Careers Service skill heath check and Mind tool are the two very useful websites that help me to identify some of my strength and area of developments in order to progress professionally. In addition I would add other areas of development from my performance management feedback.
My current developmental needs would be to get a promotion to work with other SEN children and also to take a part time course, as additional requirement would be to obtain a mandatory qualifications to support children with disability such as hearing, vision, multisensory impairments or learning disabilities to improve my job prospect. A child with disabilities is a major focus in today’s education. Achieving my Bachelors in Special Education, I need to be aware of the need to ensure appropriate education for all children with disabilities. “The education of children with disabilities is a top national priority. Our nation’s special education law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), sets high standards for their achievement and guides how special help and services are made available in schools to address their individual needs (National Dissemination)”. development on site. There is little runoff because it has great potential to be absorbed through the soil and vegetation. Runoff after construction will be greater since there will be increased impervious surfaces. The runoff will also have greater potential to be contaminated with pollutants from developments on site and increased traffic. The site is almost completely covered with vegetation but after construction there will be less vegetation. Removing vegetation will increase stormwater runoff. The direct receiving water body for runoff is Grass Lake.
1. The setting up of PHSC as a parallel system of health to the existing state health department added to the existing disorder in the health system. 1 The existing problems of corruption, poor management and favouritism continued in PHSC as it was headed by the same officials who were managing the previous system. Contrary to objective of increasing health financing, the government allocation to secondary level health services decreased from 25% (of total health expenditure) in 1994 to 19% in 2003.2 The Directorate of public enterprises and disivestment, Punjab in their policy for disinvestment (2002) recommended the winding up of Punjab health system corporation due to its inability to improve the health scenario of punjab in 7 years of functioning. On the other hand the world bank second state development project implementation report found it to be a success and suggested the continuation of the corporation. As a result, the status of PHSC was converted from an autonomous body to a government entity under Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab from 2002. So the attempt to improve the health services at the secondary level lead to its further deterioration.
