There is a reasonable number of researches and studies conducted by Muslims and Non-Muslims on English translations of the Holy Qur'an. However, little attention has been given to the translation of Qur'anic euphemistic expressions into their equivalents. For the previous studies didn’t discuss euphemisms in the Holy Qur'an as culture-bound units and therefore suggested traditional solutions for their translations such as paraphrase and transliteration. The proposed study differs from the previous ones because it looks into theories of translation including functional and formal equivalence. Moreover, the study will examine different exegeses of the Noble Qur'an to obtain a closer view of the intended meaning. In addition, the study sheds light on the rhetorical style of the Holy Quran in addressing people that the euphemism reflects. Thereupon, the importance of this study stems from the well-planned strategy that it proposes to translate the Qur'anic euphemistic expressions into English. This strategy includes the translation of each euphemistic expression into its cultural and lexical equivalent, if any, in the target language. If there is no equivalence, the study attempts to use other alternative methods, namely: gloss translation, footnotes, transliteration, omission, compensation and paraphrase. Outline of the study
The proposed study will be divided into five chapters. Chapter one will set out the background of the study and present various definitions of
In response to the question set, I will go into detail of the study, consisting of the background, main hypotheses, as well the aims, procedure and results gathered from the study; explaining the four research methods chosen to investigate,
Among the various rhetorical devices used in the Holy Qur’an, metonymy is the one which is the prime focus of this paper.
The background and significance of this study are properly presented in the introduction. The research question is presented at the end of the
In order to complete the study, research questions were developed with specific variables in order to determine the results
The chapter examines the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, scope of the study, limitations of the study and conceptual framework adopted for the study.
This section will demonstrate the research approach and design used to complete the purposed study. It will also highlight the sources used for data collection, to analyse and evaluate the evidence regarding research question.
The first chapter of the study started with the background to the study followed by statement of the problem based on six specific gaps in the body of knowledge. Subsequently, five objectives were focused, which led to five research questions. Five propositions were also formulated. This chapter also discussed the study variables which were operationalized. The significance and scope of the study were also discussed and ended with operational definition of terms.
The structure of this study has been divided into five following chapters, the first one is made of the introduction that discussed the purpose and outlines the structure of entire study, followed by chapter 2.which is literature review discusses issues related to the research study that would be gathered from Journals articles, various text books, and the internet as well as by means of a wide range of sources,
study and rationale of the study are discussed in the first half. Then this chapter goes
The analysis section is divided into the main themes and subthemes to meet the research objectives. The findings are compared to the existing literature.
This section enlightens the reader particularly regarding the configuration of the study—the way to deal with information gathering, examination and report composing. There are two types of designs namely
In this chapter, the focus is on the methodology used in the study. It include the data collection, data source, variables, research design, theoretical research framework, sampling design, test consideration for data analysis, hypotheses statement and conclusion.
This chapter presents the summary of the study, conclusions made from the findings of the study as they relate to the research objectives.
This chapter talks about the background of the study, problem statement, research aim, research questions, scope of the study, significance of the study, organization of the study and limitation of the study.
In this chapter, it presented the discussions of the research design, the procedure of conducting the study and identifying the respondents, the instrument used and statistical tools employed.
