When someone asks me what’s something that is really important to you or you couldn’t live without I always say my music. I think music is something everyone should have in their life because it does amazing things for people’s lives some even say it’s the window to our soul. Music can change people mentally and physically which is why I think it’s so powerful. Playing an instrument is something that can require you to be independent and responsible for your own practicing which helps and can resemble when developing life skills. When listening and or playing music it does something chemical to your brain whether you’re an infant, teenager or adult. A music teacher can only get you so far it soon becomes a you thing because you eventually have to understand the music in a different and deeper way. When I talk to people about music I always say you can be the person who listens to music and just thinks it’s cool or you can be the person who really analyzes the music and can see the story/emotion behind it.
Music has an emotional/feeling understanding and a scientific understanding and most people don’t know that music chemically does something to your brain when you listen to it. There are lots of emotions that are felt when we listen to music but there are two that are specifically used for explaining some of the science. Perceived Emotions are when you have the ability to recognize the emotion of a song whether it’s sad, happy, powerful, ect. Felt emotions are when you are
Prior to this class I had been in both chorus and band, along with general music classes through fifth grade. Although, I did not have very much knowledge on music history or the many different music composers. My knowledge in music was mainly revolved around music theory and harmony. When the semester began I was not positive what was in store for me, however what I was sure about was two things. One, I would love whatever we learn for I have a deeply rooted love for music. And two, I would leave this class with an abundance of knowledge. Now that it is the end of the semester I can say with confidence that both of these are true Different aspects of this class and several pieces of information will be spoken about thoroughly in the next number of paragraphs.
Throughout my life, no single thing has had a greater impact than music. It has made me who I am today, and I cannot remember a time when music wasn’t a huge part of myself - my earliest memories all contain the music that my parents played. Beyond being a product purely for enjoyment, as it was for a long time in my earliest years, music has gone on to become a fundamental part of who I am, how I spend my time, and who I spend that time with. It motivates me to be better for numerous reasons. I credit my early involvement in music with most of the successes I have had to this date.
I have always had a musical talent, and I was over-joyed when my parents decided to sign me up for piano lessons. When I was younger, I just liked playing the songs my teacher assigned me. When I was older, however, I began to see music in a different light. Playing other musicians' songs has given me a glimpse of how other people view the world. When a musician composes a song, a piece of his heart goes into it. When I play their songs, I see a hint of what is in their soul. This has had me reflect on how I view the world. When I play the songs for an audience, they are able to feel a little of what the artist and I are
Music is a key factor in my life, now and has been for as long as I remember. Music is one thing that can control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and soothing harmonic atmosphere. Music allows me to control how and what I want to be, or represent. Music is almost like picking out a favorite outfit. When one picks out an outfit to wear they most likely pick an outfit that expresses them and how they are feeling at that direct moment. They have the ability to change shoes, accessories, or their hairstyle to make it
At the beginning, music has and always will be an important thing in my life. When I am on a road trip or am doing something that takes an extended period of time, I know I can turn on Spotify and drift into my own world. Also, if I ever feel perturbed or dejected, I can listen to my favorite album and feel great again. Third, music helps me prepare for activities such as football games or school. Lastly, music assists me whenever I’m working on something such as homework or a project for school.
Music is the only medium that blesses both man and God at the same time and as such to see it as an entertainment factor within our worship services is a gross misunderstanding of its purpose. Music is made up of three elements: melody, harmony, and rhythm. Mankind is also made up of three parts: spirit, soul and body (1 Thess 5:23). It can be argued that music and the triune, or trichotomy, of mankind are intrinsically linked i.e. melody is likened to the spirit, harmony to the soul and rhythm to the body.
My life has always been centered around music even before I was born. Music is a big part of whom I am because it something I can go to and play on the piano when I am stressed or sad. Music for me is a calming force that helps solve my emotions. Music is such an important role in my life because at a very young age I watched my mother play the piano which in time made me want to learn as well. Throughout my life, I have learned to play the piano and the flute and wished I knew how to play the cello and the oboe. I grew up in a family who loved music. Ever since I was in first grade, I could read music and started to learn to play the piano. There was always a piano in our house, and every Sunday morning, my mother would play the organ at
Along the same lines, music feels just as humans do. It breathes life every second and feels emotions at every drop. I am driven to music because of the passion it fills me with. Music, with every new song I find, seems
The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before. Throughout history music has been a way for our people to speak out against the government or follow their commands. There is a great irony that a lot of these songs nowadays all tie together to portray the same message, and this is not a coincidence. “Today, hip-hop has taken the lead in protesting police brutality and the injustices suffered by the poor.” Within the selection of songs, the audience can see how the government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much racism going on today.
One important thing about music is that it connects people. I have found awesome friends thanks to music. I joined a music website where I found many great friends. There we can share our thoughts about music and life. What keeps me going throughout every day of my life is music. It does not matter whom I am with, music has always been especially important to me. Music has the strength that is so intensely embedded in the human soul. Listening to music and playing a musical instrument functions brain 's parts which is not encouraged by anything other than that. I cannot think of a more strengthened medium than music for development and growth in kids. Music continues to be an encouragement all through my life, saying the way I felt at any particular time. It appears that all of the most crucial events which happened in my life tend to have a musical linkage that once I come across it, takes me back to the
Music is a reflection of the human soul that encompasses the direct emotion of the inner being. Music has existed from the beginning of time from the very creation of the universe, as the angles worshiped God. Throughout the centuries music has dramatically changed, exposing our nature of each generation time and time again. Truth is, you can expose the mindset of an individual based on the music he or she is currently listening to. The article “Surprising Science: What Music Does to Our Brains” by, Belle Beth Cooper makes eight points on how a person reacts when listening to music. Each person will react to music differently depending on their generation and perception at the given moment and has the ability to control
If music reveals emotions, it is not a normal emotion like any other (Stecker 273). The expression in music can be considered a traditionalized phenomenon (Stecker 273). There are common questions about
Emotion is defined as a strong feeling deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. Music may be defined as vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way to produce beauty of form and harmony. Research indicates that people value music primarily because of the emotions it evokes. Yet, the notion of musical emotions remains controversial, and researchers have so far been unable to offer a satisfactory account of such emotions.
Music is arguably one of the world’s most important universal languages. Documentation of music can be found as early as Biblical days and can be heard all around. Think about all the places one is exposed to music: radio, TV, elevator, stores, restaurants etc. Every culture and country has its own style of music and the importance of music is paramount to individuals in many ways. Music is so powerful it can create a visceral response by lowering the heart rate and decreasing stress levels (Wright, 2017). Evidence has also shown music to activate areas of the brain that are engaged during “Other euphoria inducing stimuli such as food, sex, and drugs of abuse” (Wright, 2017, p. 3). Music, sound perception – the most powerful sense, can impact the way one feels and behaves (Wright, 2017). With evidence proving to have an impact on the brain both physically and emotionally, supporting a 5% tax increase to fund both curricular and extracurricular programs will enhance student’s development and provide to them a well-rounded education.
The definition of music is very different to many people. Some say that music is the arrangement of sound and silence. Others like myself say music is that and much more. Music is an aural form of art that is used to express emotion and touch the hearts of the listener through the use of phrasing, dynamics, style and tone color. Music is a very universal art form.
