The quotation written by Dwight Lyman Moody states " Character is what you are in the dark." This quotation means that a person's true character is revealed when no one else is watching. The story that I am using is " The Most Dangerous Game" which is written by Richard Connell, and the quotation does not apply to this story. In the short story " The Most Dangerous Game," Richard Connell shows that Rainsford is a character who is not afraid to speak his mind, and also that he is resourceful and patient in order to outsmart Zaroff.

One of the reasons why I disagree that the quotation does not apply to " The Most Dangerous Game" -Richard Connell, is because Ranisford speaks his mind while talking to General Zaroff. For example, when General Zaroff told Rainsford that he hunted humans Rainsford stated ,"Hunting? General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder." In the story Rainsford spoke his mind to General Zaroff even though he knew that he hunted and killed humans, and confronted him with the fact that what he is doing is murder. Therefore, in the story "The Most Dangerous Game" -Richard Connell, Rainsford spoke his mind to a killer, which is one of the reasons why agree that the quotation does no apply to the story. …show more content…

This is because when he is hunting with someone he is clever and uses his skills and he does the same when no one is with him. For instance, in the story " The Most Dangerous Game " -Richard Connell, it states," I'll just give him a trail to follow," muttered Rainsford, and he struck off from the rude path he had been following into the trackless wilderness." This shows that Rainsford is using his clever hunting skills in order to defeat General Zaroff. Rainsford resourcefulness is another cause why the quote does not apply to this
