This is the first time that I watched the movie “Monsters Inc” if not for the given task for us to write a reflection utilizing McKinsey 7S Model of Strategy. The story is both touching, entertaining and interesting.
Foremost of the McKinsey 7S model is the element of strategy. Monsters Inc., as a business company, derives its product from scared children to produce energy. The children, as a source of energy were assigned one employee each called the scarer, and permanently assisted by another employee to handle the technical aspects of the job including recording and the filing of reports.
At the beginning of the story, Monster Inc believes that scaring children is the most viable source of energy. The highest reading reflected on the meter scale supply the most amount of enegry. However, the strategy shifted to the discovery of happiness from children which is more powerfull source of

In the movie, the new discovery shifted the lead work from Sully to Mike. Their turnabout roles stemmed from the fact that Mike is more suited to extract laughter from children than Sully.
Personally, a new discovery of the company, or in this case a better one, can be very enriching for a person. This could affect the output of the company into greater heights and create better products. If not for discoveries, like in this case, research can also help the company perform economically for better results or output.
The second element is “structure.” The movie presented a direct structure – from source – to extractor – to consolidation or reports – to management. Even with the discovery of a new energy source, Monsters Inc maintained its operational structure. I think this is the most economical way for the company to achieve its objective and this suits well with my personality – a simple and straight-forward approach from personal needs to personal
In When We Fight, We Win by Greg Jobin-Leeds it says that “comparison can block compassion both for others and for ourselves.” I agree with such statement; I think that listening is a skill you learn throughout time. One can pretend to listen without really getting anything out of the conversation that one is having with that other person. In the Compassionate Listening workshop, I got to do it with Rachel Kurland and I sit and listened to her talking about the moment her friend treason her. I tried to understand her plight, why would she not cut that friendship off, I understood she loved her friend, however, I could not resist bringing my biases to our conversation. I asked myself, why is Rachel, such a good, loving, and smart person,

Chris McCandless, the subject of Jon Krakauer in Into the Wild, was not insensible or ill-equipped, but rather he was going out into the wild to locate the genuine importance of life and to perceive what it resembled to live out in the wild all alone. Chris was an incredible good example for children the whole way across the nation; since he was attempting to experience his fantasy and do what he believed was appropriate in the wild and would not tune in to what anybody instructed him to do. Chris McCandless was an adoring and minding individual who esteemed for all creation and needed to make tracks in an opposite direction from the general public and live allowed to locate the significance of life.

Reflection is a major factor in "developing self-awareness" to improve services provided to everyone around me, this is to develop my own understanding in realising the good and bad made previously. Moving forward with a better understanding, as well as rectifying the mistake whilst recognizing the good points, (Horton-Deutsch and Sherwood, 2008).
Mintzberg, H. Research . (1972) On strategy-making', Proceedings of the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Academyo f Management,N Minneapolis.
The purpose of this assignment is to discuss the contribution of reflective practice for clinical nursing. Reflection has been defined as a way for individuals to “capture their experience, think about it, mull it over and evaluate” (Boud et al 1985: 19)
In analyzing this case study, we looked toward the McKinsey 7-S Model. This model was created and developed by Peters and Waterman of McKinsey and Company. They investigated 43 companies in the US, such as IMB, McDonald’s, TI, HP, etc., all of which were outstanding in their industries, and found common points of success for these organizations. The McKinsey Model is the result of this research. The model consists of 7 elements: Shared Value, Strategy, Structure, Systems, Style, Staff, and Skill. The elements are of crucial importance to the organization and need to be aligned when organizations experience change or challenges. These elements have been outlined below.
The Outsiders novel written by S.E. Hinton continues to be A literary influence on the lives of many teens. This novel has been translated into 30 languages, and people find personal connection with either the plot or the characters themselves. I connected to this novel differently than most this book takes place on the lower end of the hierarchy and I sort of grew up in this type area I didn't live in such a bad neighborhood but I live very close to one and my dad works in the bad areas of church Hill and I went along with him there was a lot of dangerous stuff in a lot of places and things a kid my age shouldn’t of seen. “You get hardened in jail. I don't want that to happen to you. It happened to me. . .” This quote was said by Dally to Johnny on their way back to the church. This quote was important because it was the first and only time that he got emotional, he was trying to convince Johnny not to go to jail.
Mind Tools (2017) describes the McKinsey’s 7S as having a hard elements, which are easier to identify and leaders can influence them directly like Strategy, structure and system and soft elements are more with as being hard and shared values, style, staff and skills as being soft. Strategy is the plan of the organization objectives that will build an advantage over the competitive opposition opponents (Singh, 2013, Mind Tools, 2017). Next is the structure is the dynamics of the organization structure, for instance, the organization chart or chain of command (Singh, 2013, Mind Tools, 2017). Then there is the systems which are the procedures and activities that are conducted daily by staff in order to get the job done (Singh, 2013, Mind Tools, 2017). The shared values are the superordinate goals, like the core values of the organization are next and the style is the adopted leadership style (Singh, 2013, Mind Tools, 2017). The last two are staff which is the employees and their abilities to perform their job duties and skills which are the capabilities and competencies that each employee has to achieve the objective of the organization (Singh, 2013, Mind Tools, 2017).
Thompson & Strickland (2013) believes that a successful organization’s strategy depends on people, capabilities, structure, and execution. Important as well are growth and innovation (P.. 286), which allows an organization to remain competitive.
Strategy is not only a tool for outfoxes the competition but also an incredible means for creating and shaping a company
Strategy can be defined as being different from one’s competitors, finding the race to operate and accomplished it. According to Michael Porter (1996), while becoming better at what you do is desirable, it will not benefit you in the long run because it is something other competitors can also do. Strategies for organizations are originally developed by Michael E. Porter in 1979 by introducing the five forces model. A company can identify the industry profitability and attractiveness by analyzing the five forces of Porter (Johnson et al., 2008). And then a reasonable strategy can be set up in line with the strengths and the weakness of an organization is able to create a plan for a stronger position for the organization within its
