Has there ever been a time in your life where you were going through something and felt sad, and alone? Well I have, and i’ve came across many people who have also. When going through something everyone needs that someone who is there for them to listen, and give advice. In the future, I want to be that someone. My passion is helping people, since I was about 5 I’ve always enjoyed helping out people by doing a variety of things. I want to major in “Human Services”. By getting a master’s degree in human services you can become many different things such as a marriage and family therapist, human services educator, a drug and alcohol counselor, a school social worker, and many other things. Social workers are responsible for assisting families
Completing my master’s degree in social work creates a better opportunity and a brighter career path. I am extremely excited about working in this field. The thought of helping
I want to be a social worker and a master’s degree is necessary for my desired profession as a social worker. I am driven to attend graduate school at this time in my life because I am also seeking that sense of fulfillment. My plans immediately following graduation is to pursue a job as a licensed child/family social worker or a clinical social worker. Five to seven years following graduation, I plan to become a supervisor or greater in the field of social
To accomplish anything in life, you must set goals. These goals must be realistic and achievable. Two years ago, I was at a point in my life that I never believed I would see. I was finally at my associate’s degree graduation day. Becoming at teen mom at 17, college had never even crossed my mind. This was a moment in my life where I was able to not be your average teen mom statistic. Continuing to better my life and my daughter’s I set a new goal after graduation to achieve my bachelor’s degree. After speaking with UMUC counselors, I decided to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Social Science with a minor in Emergency Management. Currently, I am in my final two classes at UMUC with a scheduled graduation date of May 15.
In 2010, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree from University of Phoenix. I began the journey towards my Masters degree in Counseling in
I have discovered that a benefit of going to school at a later stage in life is that I have had time to discover who I am and what is important to me. Every time I have thought about what I want to do with my life, it has centered on helping others achieve their dreams and goals. Human services is the right academic major for me because I am ready to make a positive impact in someone’s life and want to equip others with the necessary tools to do so. I am excited to be part of their journey to betterment, healing, and self-sufficiency.
This journey will not be a easy task, but I am determined with ambition and dedication to helping those who seek guidance. The smallest gestures can have the most significant influence on someone’s life whether it means helping a student with their homework, or gathering ideas for a group project. “The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope,” as stated by our President. Acknowledging the difference in one’s behavior because you’ve provided them with something they once didn’t have, should make a difference to you. The fondness of knowing that I’ve helped at least
From since I was a young child I have always wanted to go into the field of Human Services. As I have grown I have decided that I would go into the Criminal Justice side of Human Services. By this I mean that I still want to help people, but I want to help people who have become criminals or who are on the path of becoming criminals. I especially want to help children and teens who have been in and out of a Juvenal Detention Center. From this passion I have decided that I want to go into one of three careers. These careers are as follows; Juvenile Defense Attorneys, Juvenile Counselor, or Juvenile Corrections Officer.
Holly McNabola is a clinical social worker in North Haven, Connecticut. She received both her BSW and MSW from Southern Connecticut State University. She graduated with honors in 2000. For the past 16 years Holly has had a very diverse experience working with clients who struggle with substance abuse, mental health, medical issues, and more. She provides individual and family therapy and loves what she does.
My major is Human Development. I am taking 13 units for this fall 2015, and volunteering at Horizon Cross Cultural Center where I can learn my skills and my experiences. My future plan is graduate in the Spring of 2017. After graduation, I plan to work full-time.
This unit is aimed at those who work in health or social-care settings or with children or young people in a wide range of settings. The unit explores the central importance of communication in such settings, and ways to meet individual needs and preferences in communication. It also considers issues of confidentiality.
I’m married and a mother of 4 beautiful children. My program of study is Human Services Technology AAS. I’m still uncertain what direction I want to follow in the field. No matter what direction I decide to take, I’m going to meet people where they are in all walks of life. Substance abuse affects many people in one way or another. I am very excited to start this class, start learning more substance abuse and see if this sparks my interest towards a future
Majoring in Human Services/Social Work has always been a dream of mine. I have always wanted to help people who are in need. Life can definitely be rough, and can throw anything at any time, even when you aren’t expecting it. Whether it be financial problems, emotional problems, or mental problems, life can begin to take a toll on people. In particular, I am leaning towards working with children or adults who have mental health issues or have problems with substance abuse. With the possibility of possibly helping people who come from broken families or homes.
I am interested in the Master of Social Work program with Walden University because I have always had an interest in the various aspects and components of the profession. I am interested the opportunities that a job in human services and helping profession will allow. A social work degree is accepted for a mass variety of careers and organizations. I have researched a multitude of programs that focus on Master of Social Work. After a lot of consideration Walden has my number one choice due to its accreditation with the Council of Social Work Education, and the option to study online. The accreditation that is offered through Walden is accepted in my home state of Alabama. Being able to study online was a major influence on my decision because I am a full-time working mother. Time is valuable and Walden’s flexibility allows me to further my education.
My intention is to pursue the Master of Liberal study with a concentration in Public Administration at Fort Hays State University, to prepare myself for promotion to a chief officer rank in the fire service. I feel it will be necessary to have an education commensurate with the rank because our chief officers make decisions that affect the organization at the macro level which in turn, directly impact the citizens of our community. Public Administrators, such as chief officers need to make decisions that are based upon data and critical thinking, because the decisions made will be scrutinized by city management, elected officials, and stakeholders both internally and externally.
Having a Bachelor’s, in addition to my years of experience, makes me eligible to be promoted to an Operations Manager, or a Director at my current job. I can also be a Billing Manager at a hospital. All of which are careers I am interested in. The final plan in my academic future is to earn my Master’s Degree in Social Work. After completion of my Master’s, I can pursue the career of my dreams, a Hospice Social Worker.
