My career goal is to become a Marine Biologist, but my goal for college is to go to school and major in Environmental Biology. My hope is that after four years of majoring in environmental biology it will set me on my career goal to become a marine biologist. My decision to major in Environmental Biology is because Environmental Biology is very broad. It does not set you one just one thing, instead it branches off into different career paths, such as ecology, habitat restoration, wildlife rehabilitation, sustainable agriculture, marine biology and more. I could choose to major in marine biology, but I would like to have more experience in different things. In case my goal to become a marine biologist back fires I will have the experience to
When thinking about getting away to some serene paradise to help forget about work or school obligations most people instantly think of the beach. Whether it be the west or east coast the beach is a universal symbol of peace and serenity, plus a little bit of fun. But this bliss has a whole different meaning to me. This is where I grew up and how I found myself. The west coast of Florida is the first time I felt the sand in my toes and the salt water on my face. These memories inspired me to give back to the ocean and its inhabitants and follow my dreams of becoming a marine biologist.
I’ve always had a keen interest in science. When I was younger, I viewed a dolphin show online. I was instantly fanisnated and later I was informed that the trainers were special marine biologists. The idea of becoming a marine biologist is still a dominate career choice for me. Last year, I was incredibly curious with the aspects that a marine biologist has to undertake that I researched the career path as part of my PLP. This only ignited my interest even further and when I was invited to attend the Flinders University I particularly focused on the marine biology and biology lectures.
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open-minded and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They always stress how “sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run.”
Now, most of the people decide to go to college or university after graduates from high school. College major is the compass for a student in future. The major is variable in a lot of fields; everyone should pick at least one. I realized I chose biology as my specific major is a good advance for me later. I want to follow my passion for the medical field; I feel interested in learning more about science; it will support me well in the future.
I've been asked one question…”What do you want to be when you grow up?” I thought for a long time I wanted to be a Sports Psychologist but for the last 6 months I’ve been asking myself, “Do I really want to be a Sport Psychologist?”, and I have discovered that I'm interested in more than just sports related things-I'm interested in marine life and the marine atmosphere. I don't see how this didn't come to me sooner because every time I would go to the beach I would ask if we could go to the South Carolina Aquarium just to look at the fish or when we would go to Miami I would ask if we could go to the Miami Seaquarium or the Zoo Miami. It's important to me to find out more about marine biology because this is my future and just in case
I don’t know exactly where I want to be, or what I want to be doing, but I am positive that as my education progresses, my long term goals will follow. It is difficult to look into such an uncertain future and determine where I want to fit in, backed by my lack of world experience, but I trust that the experience of taking more specific classes combined with the college surroundings will lead me into more distinct career goals. I aspire to find a job that appeals to my passions and makes me happy, and right now, I believe a job in the realm of protecting the environment will do just that. There are a multitude of forms this type of work could take, and eventually, I will determine where I fit in in that
Ever since I was an infant, I have spent almost every summer on my father's boat in Ocean City, New Jersey. Whether it be fishing or jumping off the boat to go swimming, I have always been familiar and had an immense love for both the boat and the ocean. Up until this year, I had never known that there was an option for me to be able to take online classes at my high school. Since I have already taken all of the science classes that are honors that were available, I needed to find another science class. I had found the honors oceanography class in the catalog online, and I instantly signed up for the course. I enrolled because of my interest for the ocean and it's inhabitants. Although I'd like to think that I know a lot about the ocean, I
If Marine Science was not fascinating enough, think about how interesting it is that high school students are being introduced to it at such an early age, and how this introductory science can have a measurable impact on our environment. Today’s young adults do not cease to amaze and have become the future representatives of eco-friendly living. STPS’s very own Michael Conner had the honor of lecturing these eco-beacons and green go getters about sea turtles in Ryan Cilsick’s gifted 12th grade class. Ryan says that, “four science classes are requisite to graduate high school”. Ryan alone teaches six Science based classes at Edgewood High School in Merritt Island. Three of those are Honor Marine Science classes, one is an Honors Biology
My goals for my education are to graduate high school and go to college and study either to be a medical assistant or a marine biologist. I heard in many cases that a marine biologist is a really cool career to be in because you get to study sea creatures or even bigger ocean animals ,which I like to know where the sea creatures came from and how they live every day under the water and what they eat, however I also would like to be a medical assistant . Being a medical assistant is like being the right hand to the doctor , there job is to guide the patients to the room that they will be in and take their blood pressure check their heartbeat and also ask the patients if they have anything going on or if anything is hurting and then record it down and call in the doctor to come check up on you. Another thing they do is take out your blood and test it to see if anything is wrong . My choice to be a marine biologist or a medical assistant is still very indecisive, but realizing that i'm in my last year of high school, and will be starting college soon, I must choose one and study it well and get a
The career path I wish to be taking is Marine Biology. As a Marine Biologist i would be studying marine wildlife and plants. I choose this career path because i've always been fascinated with the water. There's so much we don't know about the ocean and it would be amazing to be able to discover a new fish or something about the water we've never know. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
My career goal is to become a Wildlife Biologist, I have selected this career because I have had the opportunity to volunteer with the DNR headquarters in my town. The past four years with putting in over 64 hours of field work doing a variety of different tasks. I have found wildlife biology to be my passion after tracking endangered turtles four years
Before attending the University of Arizona, I felt a need to set a specific goal to achieve in ten years later. The collegiate journey was more different than I aspect. With far more about many options in careers, I had realized that broader goals could help me explore what actually interest me the most. Before I started college, I had chosen pre-physiology. However, I am majoring in biomedical engineering now and really enjoy taking engineering courses. Currently, I have broadened my horizons to consider both graduate and medical schools unlike before. Before, I never believed that one can change goals so rapidly. Now, college has changed me.
My goals in life are to get a first enlist in the Navy, hope to get a job as a diver in the special operations program. After my first enlistment is up, I want to be a diver at an aquarium where I can feed the animals; Meanwhile, I would like to attend Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at The University of Miami and earn a doctorate degree in Marine Biology to become a Marine Biologist. I've always been fascinated with animals, especially aquatic life. Although, I wasn't dead-set on becoming one at first, over spring break I made my final decision. We went to an aquarium and I just loved every bit of it; the animal’s interactions, the knowledge behind all of it, and the joy I saw between the employees and the animals. I’m very interested in not just the study of organisms in the ocean or other marine bodies of water, but also marine conservation and ecology. Thinking about the studies of protecting and preserving of the ecosystems in oceans and seas and interactions among organisms and their environment just gets my full attention. I could sit for hours and hours and listen to anybody talk about these subjects and they would have my full attention, one-hundred percent. This subject has never, and never will lose my interest.
If you are interested in adventuring the depths of the ocean, being a marine biologist is the job for you. As a marine biologist you will need to have several years of schooling in order to have a successful career. Being a marine biologist can be an enjoyable and dangerous job, but the journey is worth the ride.
Marine biology is the study of organisms in the oceans and other saltwater environments. Including their behavior and interactions with the environment. All plant and animal life forms are included from the microscopic pico plankton al the way to the majestic blue whale. Marine biology is a very broad area so most researchers select a particular area of interest and specialize on it. The specializations can be based off on a particular species, group, behavior, technique, or an ecosystem.
