1. Two Purposes of Performance Management and its relationships to business objectives. Performance management is a repetitive process, established by organisations to help them in accomplishing their objectives (goals, as listed in the organisation’s vision) by maximizing the performance of an individual, team or whole organisation and ensure that the objectives are achieved. 1 The Performance Management Process is a key component of organisation’s overall approach to the management of its people. As part of the performance management system, Performance Management Process aims to achieve the following: To enable an individual
Performance Assessment plays an important role in human resource management processes. However, factual evidence shows that there is a high rate of assessment failures. One of reasons leading to this issue is the illogical design of performance assessment forms. This essay firstly outlines the performance management technique using in the Performance Appraisal Form Template issued by Businessballs (www.businessballs.com). This essay will then analyse its strengths and weaknesses related to assessment validity, reliability and felt-fairness. Finally, this essay will discuss some aspects where this instrument can be re-designed to improve its validity, reliability and felt-fairness.
Organizational performance management is important for all types of businesses, especially in the world of medicine. Three organizational businesses we chose as a team to research and compare Town Beach Fire and rescue, The Baptist Hospital, and The Center for Disease Control, and the roles that Pharmacists play in the dispensing, and managing of prescription medication. There are two methods that are being tested for this position to evaluate this employee’s job performance. These methods are the factor comparison and the point method. Both of these methods could be effective for evaluating this position. Both of these methods are based on the employee’s skills. They are based on the skills of the individual only, not compared to other’s skills within the organization. However, using these methods could also be difficult to assess the baker’s skill level. Research would have to be done using other stores comparable to Kudler Fine Foods and their skilled baker’s. This research would have to collect data that would give the manager’s at Kudler an idea of what the job performance level should be as a baker.
They have to be self-motivated to be able to get their tasks completed when necessary. You need to be the type of person who wants to dig into your work and get it completed quickly and to a high degree of precision. If you are a person who requires the constant pressure from a leader to get your job done, then you will probably need to develop skills in self-motivation.
The networking opportunity with other business owners in the building is an avenue to gain insight and possible gain new customers. Another challenge faced by performance management is the ability, or lack of, to actually improve the performance by employees to reach and achieve at a greater height than they already are (Armstrong, 2014). The organisations must circulate inspiration between employer and employee to garner more success in business matters and as a personal development process. An organisation must maintain a healthy and active level of staff inspiration during the interview and requires a continuous emotional, physical and mindful investment in themselves and others to ensure that it reaches a charitable capability. Motivation and contribution by staff to employees shouldn’t be left to rot and unnoticed, as naturally they’d become a thing of the past
Employee performance is an important part of any organization that desires to have a competitive advantage. Performance management is the means by which managers ensure that employees’ activities and outputs are congruent with the organization’s goals (Gerhart, Hollenbeck, Noe, & Wright, 2015, p. 347). The main purposes of performance management are strategic, administrative, and developmental. It has a strategic purpose because it allows managers to implement goals and objective as well as identify employees’ strengths and weakness. An administrative purpose because it lets the organization provide accurate salaries, promotions, and laying off those not supporting the company’s overall goal. Lastly a developmental purpose because it helps identify employees which are effective at their jobs and those that need help improving. Unfortunately most managers and employees dread the process of performance appraisal and feedback due to the lack of consistency of the system. Chapter 8, discusses a series of approaches that could be used to measure performance as well as how to present the evaluations to employees.
