Majoring in Agriculture is Not Talking to Animals Majoring in agriculture I always get asked the question, “Do you talk to cows?” Agriculture is more than livestock animals and living on a farm. Majoring in agriculture is very diverse with multiple job opportunities, and I know this from personal experience. There are a lot of opportunities that come with having an agriculture major, such as scholarships, jobs, internships, teacher certification, communication skills and the science of agriculture.
Scholarships
Being involved in FFA in high school, I had the opportunity to show animals, participate in competitive events, obtain my Greenhand and Lonestar degrees and proficiency awards; with these I was fortunate enough to receive scholarships. Texas Tech University provides external, incoming freshman, continuing students, and transfer student scholarships. In state tuition is around $8,000, so any scholarship or financial aid will be very beneficial. External scholarship recipients are invited to a scholarship dinner where the recipients have to privilege to meet the donor of their scholarship and have a very delicious meal provided by Red Raider Meats.

As an undergraduate student majoring in General Agriculture at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, I have an extreme interest in the USDA/ 1890 National Scholarship Program. The United States Department of Agriculture has been the catalyst for assisting minorities to obtaining employment in addition to inspiring young professionals. The USDA/ 1890 Program will not only help me financially but also open doors for my future. Financially, college is very expensive especially out of state. Economically, the funding that has been provided to me is not enough to receive my degree. FASFA doesn’t cover all of my financially need which means that another source of funding is needed for me to further my education.
There are many types of agriculture around me. I live in Arkansas where agriculture is the largest industry, adding around $ 16 billion to the stateś economy annually. Some of the largest agricultural products I see around me are soybeans, cotton, timber, and grain.
Education is a powerful tool and, when used correctly, it has the power to teach someone a new skill, transform his or her perspective, and encourage personal growth and development. Throughout this country, numerous agricultural education programs help students to learn more about and deepen their understanding of one of this nation’s most valuable industries: the agricultural industry. Most importantly, these programs play a major role in helping to combat the lack of
I am the oldest of four girls in a family of six and I will also be the first one in my family to go to college at Texas A&M University. I always thought that scholarships were just going to be bombarded on those who were in the top ten percent of their grade, but as I can see now, I was extremely wrong. It is an uphill battle to pay for college and that is something that I should have seen coming. I believe I need the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship to attend Texas A&M University because my parents may not be able to provide for my entire four years there.
I have worked on my family farm ever since I was fourteen years old. This is where I have gained my love of agriculture. My responsibilities include taking care of my show calves, working cattle, helping with harvesting and planting, and assisting my father with any other needs around the farm. The experiences I have gained through working on my family’s farm will help lead me through the rest of my life.
Aztecs were fierce warriors who were able to conquer lots of land from 1427-1520. They had genious farming methods and had interesting sacrifice rituals. When teaching about Aztecs, historians should emphasize their amazing agriculture. Historians should emphasize their agriculture because they were able to farm for their huge population and they used ingenious methods to do so.
Over the years agriculture has nearly diminished from the workforce. Why is this happening? In fact, ever since the Industrial Revolution’s promises of “big city success” agriculture has taken a hit. Agriculture has been a foundation for the infrastructure of the United States since it’s creation. Agricultural careers are a necessity for the nation. It is important through the history, from whom it affects, the effects on the environment and people, and to find a solution to the loss of this core element.
He said that it was a good thing that I took calculus and college classes while in high school because it will make my first year easier. The four hardest classes I will have to take in the Agricultural Business program according to Shane are Math160, Econ 301, Finance 301, and Statistics 326. For those classes, he said to either get a tutor or a smart group of friends to study with and pray for a C.
I would be an excellent recipient of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s scholarship. I pride myself in being an active committee member of the federation. Throughout the years I have appeared and participated in most every banquet and event. I mostly volunteer while the banquets take effect so the guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy themselves. This includes working the game and raffle stands, and displaying the items of the live auction for the guests. I not only involve myself in the federation’s banquets but also serving at the Turkey
When it comes to a major I have narrowed my options down to technology and engineering, but there are many different types of engineers and careers you can go into dealing with technology. Doing research in this field may help me lean towards what type of engineer I want to be. I would be very interested in researching in Biology to better understand the material Biology comes with, such as soil science to better understand agriculture. I would be interested in researching Physics and accounting as both are math based. I have always loved math whether it is Calculus, Algebra or Statistics. Doing research at USDA will give me a better feel of having a job in a certain aspect of technology, which can help guide me exactly to what I want a career
There are many different agricultural courses you could take not just agriscience. Programs of study that are in the agriculture category is Veterinary and Animal Science, Agricultural Engineering, Agribusiness,Food Science, and Horticulture Science. All of those are courses that are in the Agriculture department.
When making a career choice it is wise for one to consider the laws of supply and demand. The current shortage of agriscience educators in Alabama and across the nation has made this a
9. A college such as The University of Illinois could provide farmers with the knowledge of new technology that could give them better crops for possibly less cost and a way to limit production. Additionally, it could teach farmers how to respond to new market
