The deadline for the project is in three weeks. The software to be written for the project requires a lot of mathematical computation. Getting started on the project early was a wise decision. Whenever I stumble onto a part, the professor is there to point me in the right direction. My group members and I have committed to meeting twice a week for three hours so we can be able to finish the project and the report before the actual deadline.
The assignment requires us to record a message signal using the MATLAB software and then perform several different simulations with that message in order to jump to the conclusion and see how different parameters effect our results. The first part of the project requires us to do amplitude

It really helped us in understanding the different aspects that we need to take into consideration when designing such a project. This decision to start early on the project saved us from all the hassle we might have encountered by the end of the project. It allowed us for the time to think each and every part through and then write a good professional report. Each group member was assigned different parts of the project, which helped a lot in finishing the project well before the deadline. This saved us a lot of time for editing and revising our final report. Each time a group member was stuck on something the partner would try to help him out if the partner did not know how to they would go to the professor and seek her guidance. To make sure the whole team was on the same page, we had weekly discussion meetings. In the discussion meetings, each group member talked about the progress and the limitations on their part of the project. This idea proved to be quite healthy as now each group member knew what was going on in the project.
The on-campus tutoring was another resource the team had used. The tutoring sessions turned out to be very helpful as sometimes when the professor wasn’t available, the tutors were there to guide us. Making sure we are on the right track and pulling us out from any problem we might have. The team had to keep in mind the policies of the student code of conduct while completing the project. The team made sure the
Overall, this group project went very well and was completed on time due to the fact there everyone including myself assigned ourselves with a task role, relational role and from the start had individual roles present such as leader, compromiser, and gatekeepers in the group that made it
During my Master Courses at the University of Maryland University College each and every subject, we had to complete a group project and submit it within the certain time frame. It was a very challenging task as people were in my group was in different time zones and everybody was doing a job and has a household responsibility. Most of the time, I was leading my team, as I like to work in advance to complete the project before the deadline. I was preparing a meeting agenda for my project management course. We have completed weigh waste water project for blueberry farm to grow blueberry in organic way and at the same time providing nutrient and saving the
Working in a group to achieve a high quality group project can be one of people’s most difficult school experiences. Working in a group is tough because there is often someone who does not pull their own weight. “There are five stages to group development, adjourning, forming, storming, performing, and norming” (John & Wiley pg 166). Christine’s group from the Case Study the Forgotten Group Member is in between the Storming and Norming Stages. The Storming Stage “is dealing with tensions and defining group tasks,” while the Norming Stage is dealing with high emotionality and tension among the group members” (John & Wiley pg. 166). Christine and her group could have had better
Something that we learned as a group was that cooperation helps a lot. Certain tasks were accomplished faster and this showed us that one person does not have to do the entire project on their own. Procrastination is also detrimental, causing cramming on days before deadlines. This can be stressful and force meetings to be postponed. Our group has also learned to follow a set schedule. Following a schedule allows us to complete all of our work on time.
Communication between group members was essential to complete this project well and in a timely matter. We used the GroupMe phone application to discuss developments to the project and obstacles encountered. When group members could not meet during class, I made sure to get them caught up through the GroupMe app immediately. I feel my leadership and organization was necessary to get certain group members to contribute to the project. Overall, I was satisfied with the group
In this group project, I had a major role in ensuring that it came together in a unified way. Generally, I usually take a leadership role in group projects so I was the central person coordinating group meetings and ensuring sufficient communication. To begin the project, we divided up the work by assigning people to work on the case study, find literature, summarize the textbook, and talk to key informants. My assigned part was to summarize the textbook, which also ended up lending itself to finding some additional sources to build on what the textbook was lacking. In regard to the group literature and informant summary, I ended up writing most
This was particularly important since our group project was completely unstructured in the beginning with each of Healthier Initiative groups being unsure of where exactly we would fit in. As such, we invested a significant amount of time in figuring out each of our roles in establishing the project and learned to rely on each other’s specific skill sets to formulate our different projects. Further, we had frequent check-ins with feedback to ensure that we were meeting targets that we had set for ourselves. The cycle of feedback extended to our projects which were reworked multiple times to ensure that we were best addressing the needs of the community. This cycle though sometimes tedious helped to strengthen the team dynamic by encouraging individual growth whilst allowing for buy-in from all members involved in the
Last Autumn, I received a call from Amir asking me if he could develop a tutoring program for college students. Amir, having recently graduated for the University of Houston, had spent time reflecting on his college experienced and sought to aid others who were going through similar collegiate struggles. Amir quickly formed and established the Undergraduate
One factor we have used so far is realistic time lines and expectations. In other words, we understand when certain parts of the project are due and the expectations that need to be met in order to receive a great score. Thankfully, we all want to do well on this group project and we understand the expectations from our professor, but all from each other. This ties in to the shared vision factor. As a team we understand what type of project we want to create and we know the steps to take in order to achieve
Project team members can more easily develop a shared sense of identity, resulting in a stronger commitment to one another and to the success of the project. Consistent focus on a single project with the same group of team members gives people a greater appreciation of one another’s strengths and limitations, as well as a deeper understanding of and a stronger belief in the value of the intended project results.
After asking Nadya’s permission, I began offering extra tutoring for 45 minutes following our class. The first several days I had three students come to my tutoring sessions in an empty classroom. Soon, I realized the environment was too formal when I was most focused on getting them to converse as much as possible, so I moved us to an open lunch area. Near the end of the course, it was not uncommon to have half of the class attending my tutoring sessions.
Last school year, three of my peers and I decided that our high school needed a peer-tutoring club, so the last few months of my junior year and the first few weeks of my senior year were dedicated to starting this organization. We organized the structure and goals of the club, and presented our ideas to the administrators. Once we got our approval, we immediately began planning lessons. Two days a week we meet with groups of students that come to us for help on improving their ACT scores or general grades. Our service is open to any and every student. We have tutored students in dual-enrollment courses and in standard academic classes.
Being involved in a group project was a challenge for me, due to the fact that we had some communication problems between our group members in the beginning. First of all, we started with a brainstorming, analysing the opportunities of companies around Hendon Central. More than this, we agreed on the same firm and started our work. Within a teamwork, there are some challenges that occur such as remaining focused on a direction, splitting equally the work and choosing a good leader. Bearing all this in mind, I might say that we did our best during the presentation and we coped with the minor communication issues. From this experience, I realized that I am a good leader and I can manage efficiently a project.
During week 9, we posted the articles we thought would be useful to our research, which helped us to get information together without face-to-face meetings. We did not use the online workplace to plan the presentation; we only used it to get an understanding of what the others’ focus was on the topic. After we finished our research, we met at the library to organize the presentation, power point, and plan each other’s section in the presentation. We got everything done in three hours and had some time left over to practice the presentation. I would have taken at least three days to get that amount of work done by myself. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when people work together. Working as a group was an exciting activity; we were able to recognize each other’s strengths, and help each other with our weaknesses. For example, I was better at making the power point, while someone else was much better at organizing information.
I confirm that this assignment complies with the University’s policy on academic conduct which is specified at
