This seemingly odd-named state park is named after the virgin tropical forest that is the main attraction of Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park. This state park is home to over 1000 lignum vitae trees. These amazing trees are truly a spectacle to see. They feature distinctive deep-blue flowers every spring and have branches that cris-cross each other. Their wood is some of the densest on earth, weighing in at 80 pounds per cubic foot. The vegetation here used to be more prevalent in the Upper Keys but now this island is one of the few where you can find it, making it a special place to visit. Masked behind the aging oak trees covered in moss, and past the emerald waters of the panhandle, stands a white mansion that reveals the history of the local of Point Washington area. A large, white, almost plantation-style home is the focal point of Eden Gardens State Park, and a symbol of the legacy of the family. Large centuries-old oak trees embellish the land surrounding the house, making it a pivotal icon of the nature left untouched. The house itself contains hundreds of years of memories, and the land that occupies the area encompasses an even larger spectrum of Florida history. Once the site of a family lumber mill business in the late 1880’s, today it stands unnoticed as a legacy in the South Walton area of Florida.
Located 30 minutes north of Atlanta, Georgia, this is a truly amazing lake. It is a large lake filled with islands, hence the name. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this beautiful lake is the place to go. It is quite commercialized with resort hotels and water parks, spa center, and campgrounds dotting its white sand shores, but the lake itself is breathtakingly gorgeous.
Key West is many people's paradise. It has dazzling waters, beautiful beaches, and a wonderful climate. This tiny island is located off the southernmost part of Florida is the only true tropical island in the United States. Thousands of people from all over the world come to Key West every year for the relaxing lifestyle and rich culture. As well as being rich in culture it is rich in history too. Key West has also been the home to many great authors and artists and is known for having a very diverse population.
Restaurants in the area are not a scarce thing; they serve a variety of food at various price ranges. Calhoun’s is a very nice restaurant that serves ribs, steak, and seafood. Calhoun’s is moderate in price. It offers indoor and outdoor dining and also has a bar (http://www.calhouns.com). The Park Grill mainly has ribs and trout but also serves beef, poultry, and pork. Part of the reason for going to the Park Grill is the scenery. It is a very nice log building with many hand carvings. The Peddler has been in operation for twenty years and offers steak and salad. The restaurant is very close to the national park, so it is on the way if you are headed to the park (http://www.peddlerparkgrill.com/peddler.htm). The Park Grill and the Peddler are slightly expensive, but have very good food. The Funnel Cake Company, which has two locations in Gatlinburg and it has been in the business for twelve years, it sells funnel cake mix and gives out recipes (http://www.funnelcake.com).
Hutchinson Island is a very tropical place, and that’s why it is a touristy area for many. They hit it off with having some of the greatest beaches in South Florida and having beautiful weather year round. The Florida Keys is one of the most famous and most visited island groups in the world. Since the keys went through a crisis where the keys were almost destroyed. The residents refused to give up there their land. For the people on the east coast the keys were important because of it significance in the economy, How the people felt about other wanted to tear down the island, and how their used now.
Situated just south of Tallahassee on the Gulf Coast is Florida’s own hidden treasure Wakulla. The area has an abundance of things to do including boating, fishing, snorkeling, golfing, attending festivals and other interesting events along with enjoying the unspoiled natural habit that exists in this unique area of Florida.

An AOL.com travel story titled "Secret Beaches of the U.S."ranks Cumberland Island's beach among the nation's top 10 getaways for those who want solitude, sun and seashore at the same time” (Jackson, Gordon AOL). Cumberland Island is located in Georgia and is a National Park. Cumberland Island and Congaree National Park are both National Parks, but Cumberland Island is a superior place for summer activities than Congaree National Park because of it’s wide variety of thing you can do. Congaree Island has multiple summer activities such as kayaking and fishing, and is very popular. Nevertheless, Cumberland Island has varied summer activities such as swimming and hiking and would be more enjoyable if you are interested
Along the east side of the park, one and a quarter miles of sandy beachfront boasts open views of the Atlantic Ocean. This beautiful area offers visitors access to warm waters and white sands. With a reef six miles offshore, the waters are protected and gentle waves lap at the feet of both children and adults.
These great sceneries have the power to inspire a great many of people to conserve and protect the natural environment that Florida has to offer. These trees and waterways have a great potential, in that they have the ability to inspire the next generation of scientists and policy writers, simply because they enjoyed walking through the park during their childhoods. This is extremely important, as ecology directly involves how people interact with their environment based off of the knowledge and respect they have for it.
To assist with conversation, the Everglades have been divided by the government into two regions with two purposes. The northern area is reserved for agriculture, primarily sugarcane, and the lower portion has been turned into a historical national park (“Why Should I..”, 2013). The parts that are not included in the preservation constantly face battles against development and even more destruction; thousands of miles of the Everglades are not included in or protected by it’s natural park status. Only 22 of the 56 endangered species are protected in the national parks (Sart, 2015).
Craig Key in Florida is a calm peaceful, relaxing, and tranquil place to go fishing. There are just two properties in this little key, Overseas Highway, and the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail. Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail is on the side of the road where my family goes fishing. The Florida Keys are, as the Florida Fish and Wildlife officer said “a beautiful place to go fishing if anyone annoying is not around,” by which he meant if other people were around.
People often leave Key Largo with memories of spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling thanks to full-service diving centers like Sea Dwellers Dive Center.
