COLONIZATION ON MARS
Mars has been sitting out in space for so long Scientists have just looked at Mars as just a planet and now we are on the verge of colonizing it. Key resources are needed for Mars, like water, certain gases, and food, and labs in the USA have them all. Scientists should send people to Mars.
Water on Mars is highly possible and is key for life on Mars.Scientists have found ways to repurpose water so the humans living on mars can drink purified and edible water. With storage in pods on mars it will be possible to keep humans on Mars alive.Water on Mars is not edible on Mars but with new technology it is possible to reignite the water so it can be edible. The water on Mars is usually in craters or underground. Water is a
In conclusion, colonizing Mars is a terrible idea There is no known natural source of water, Once you get there you cannot come back , and If you get sick, the astronauts
Added to the economic costs to America, a venture to Mars causes substantial risk to the society. The environment and society are very important to human survival on Earth. Even though some people feel that exploring Mars may help understand the Earth better, and going to Mars will be a great scientific milestone, in my opinion exploring Mars is a bad idea. The atmosphere on Mars is about 100 times thinner than earth and it is not suitable for us to breath. It contains about 95% of carbon dioxide and little or no oxygen. This will make it very difficult for humans to survive there. Unlike Mars, which is not protected and is exposed to everything, the Earth is protected by the ozone layer. Exploring Mars will be dangerous to humans and very expensive to taxpayers. This will take years of planning and the mission will take years instead of days. The astronauts who go there may run out of oxygen and even fall sick. They will be unable to just return at any time. They have to wait until the earth aligns with Mars before they can return. All this could take months or even
We find mars so fascination because if you know what to look in the sky, the reason why is obvious enough. Mars is visible to the naked eye, and clearly red. It’s also close: our ability to see it so easily prove to the relative nearness of the planet. The world around us now is loaded with references to mars: witness movies with titles like “mission to mars” (2000) and “red Planet: (2000) fact-filled stories or films (about an event or person) like NOVA’s “Can we make it to Mars?” , not to mention numerous science fiction stories like Ray Bradbury’s 1950s “The Martian Records/tells a story” and non-fiction books like “The case for Mars” and (definitely/ as one would expect) “packing for mars” which both explore what it would take to send not just a robotic analog for people/(the kindness of people), but actual living breathing humans. At 1:31 a.m. eastern on Monday, August 6, our fascination with mars continued when the mars science laboratory landed on the red planet. It’s not the first wanderer humans have sent to mars: NASA has been sending robotic (people who represent a government, etc.) since Viking 1 landed in 1976.
It is unbelievably expensive to reach Mars. To reach Mars the cost is billions of dollars to send just a couple people to Mars. It will cost more than 4 times the money it took to reach the Moon to reach Mars, since Mars is so far away. Furthermore it would cost way too much money, and therefore NASA or any other international space station should not send astronauts to Mars. Compared to the amount of money it takes to reach the Moon this expeditions cost is outrageous. If we obtain the money for this expedition and it fails, billions of dollars would be
Water on Mars is very hard to find. Since the planet used to have water most of it is frozen underground. “The bad new is that most of that water is frozen underground and likely contains toxic chemicals.” The water that is dug up would have to be purified and preserved. Georgie’s father said that in the canyon there was “water-soluble mineral deposits” near the edge of the canyon. Georgie’s father said that “ I figure drill 400 meters down, and we’ll hit water”
These days after the space race has put a man on the moon, some people have asked what comes next. Some people believe that the best next step is to simply use unmanned probes to explore as it is simply too dangerous and expensive for people to go themselves. However, many people believe that it would be foolish for people to not continue exploring space and some have even begun their own programs, like the Mars One Project, to try to get people into space.
Humanity shouldn’t pursue exploration of Mars because we have more pressing issues like conflicts over the world (WW3). Money can be spent on other programs and or research that can be useful today instead of exploring Mars. Also, if they did explore Mars the exploration could bring back a deadly disease that no one can cure.
Colonizing Mars is not a good idea. Should people risk their lives living on an unsafe planet like Mars considering all the dangers? Other people say that it is a good idea to colonize Mars because of the similarities between Mars and Earth. People should not go to Mars, there is no safe water, Mars does not have enough oxygen for people to be safe, the weather on Mars is dangerous. People on Mars can not use the water.
Scientists agree that water used to flow on Mars. This is due to the presence of ancient dry riverbeds on the surface, discovered in the 1970s. In recent years, more evidence has appeared of past surface water, such as images of small gullies and water eruptions. Water ice beneath the surface of Mars has been definitively found by the Mars Phoenix Lander. And lately, researchers have claimed that Mars used to have many shallow oceans, although its validity is unsure. The source of this water is believed to be the permafrost below the surface melting. Mars' topography resembles earth, suggesting the presence of rain in the past, when Mars had a vastly different climate.
Humans should never colonize Mars. If they did, the radiation would be a massive problem and there would have to be consumable food and water. The food would have to be able to be sustained there and the water would need to be in liquid form available for drinking. First of all, radiation would be a huge problem on Mars. NASA says,”A long voyage to Mars, with no big planet nearby to block or deflect that radiation, is going to be a new adventure.”
The Colonization of Mars is an ongoing plan, not set in stone, but very likely. It opens up potential for new resources, new living space, and new biological changes possible for the human body. The physical characteristics of Mars are fairly similar to those of Earth, meaning that part shouldn't be hard to adapt to. However, the temperatures on Mars are substantially lower than those on Earth, as well as the gravitational pull. Statistics show that Mars has potential to be something great, but potential isn't promised, the possibility of all volunteers being killed on the mission is very likely, not to mention they will never be coming back to Earth.
Mars is a really good place to colonize because it is really cold on Mars which, means that the inside is frozen and if the colonizers can melt that they would have endless water. NASA is not going to send colonizers every day. They have to send people at the right time because the sun is blocking Mars and if they send them at the wrong time they will go right into the sun. Earth is a overpopulated place so if we go to Mars and its fine to live there our earth would not be overpopulated anymore. Also NASA is not going to force you to go to Mars you can go to Mars if you are experienced and you want to
In conclusion, Nasa should get more funding for earth’s problems and less for space due to the huge amount of variables, Including the problems here on earth, such as the ozone depletion. As well as the fact that there is no food, oxygen, or water on Mars. These are the three components that every living thing needs to survive. Not to mention that mechanical failures and space debri can also cause sudden doom. Why waste the money? This planet will slowly waste away while Nasa tries to go to
water in the past is pretty conclusive. What is being looked for now is water
Some people think this is a good idea, going to Mars could help us leave a world with slowly dying resources and losing our atmosphere, and go to a new world to live on, sure. To go ‘live on’ I think they mean to ‘die on’ because there is no atmosphere at all, so if you enjoy walking, you’re stuck. Sure, go walk in non-existent woods, with non-existent family, with a non-existent source of endless oxygen, and die in a soon-to-be non-existent body of yourself.
