I have now entered the last week of the conclusion of my reading goal of Legend. During this week I have read the last pages, which are 260-305. Day has now started to dream about when he was younger. He dreamed about the time he and his and brother were playing street hockey with a paper ball and he accidentally threw a ball and hit a police officer in the face. The officer then beat Day really bad and didn’t stop until Day’s mom and John offered him their family’s savings, as well as taking the chicken that Day’s mom was preparing for dinner. John then scolded Day for looking at the officer defiantly, as he explained that this is why the police officer acted the way that he did. As time has passed Thomas invited June to a move, and June …show more content…
She sees on the monitors that people are in the square rioting because the Patriots are raining money on them. Even though Day is woozy from being hit in the head, John and Day fight off the guards. The electro bomb only disables guns for two minutes, so John sacrifices himself so that he could buy June and Day time to escape. His plan works and they are able to escape the building. Kaede and the Patriots pick them up and speed away on motorcycles. Day now wakes up on a rooftop in Valencia, which is on the outskirts of the Republic. June explains to him what happened. The Jumbo Trons are showing footage of what they claim is Day’s execution, but Day right away recognizes John as the person being shot, and he is horrified but June convinces him that John has willingly sacrificed himself to save Day so that Day could save Eden. Day and June sleep in a train in Barstow. The then go to Las Vegas to check on Tess to make sure that Tess is all right and then they head to warfront and rescue Eden. Now June and Day kiss, and June asks Day about his street name. Day explains that it’s to remind him to take things one day at a time and try to walk in the

In Unbroken, by Lauren Hillenbrand the setting plays a significant role. The story starts the childhood of a man named Louie. He grew up with his Italian family in Torrance, California during the 1920s and 30s. He was the middle child and was considered a troublemaker. Because of his behavior, his behavior, his older brother, Pete, made him try out for the track. His performance was amazing and as a result he was allowed to join the team. Everyday he was training with his brother. He won all of yhe local track meets and went on to run in the 1936 olympics in Germany. He ran the 5,000 meter race. Even though he finished in 7th place, he broke the world record for the fastest final lap with 56 seconds. Louie was determined to perform better in the 1940 olympics.
It is a rough path going from being an Olympic runner to a war hero. In the biography Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, the main character, Louie, goes through the struggles of running as well as the struggles through war. His struggles began when he was younger and continued on to when he was flying in the war. He overcame all these struggles and became a very passionate person who loved life. The way he overcame these struggles and continued to live his life is why I believe everyone needs to read the book.
Unbroken, A book written by Louie Hillenbrand, is the story that follows Louie Zamperini’s life. He was a troublemaker at the beginning of his life, but, when a friend that his brother was tutoring was deemed feeble-minded, he decided to change his ways.
In many ways I am like Thelma Arnold of Lilburn, Georgia (pg. 59). The book states that Thelma had not realized that her search browser, AOL, had kept and released records of what she had searched. When her records along with others records, were released complete strangers were able to identify her and find where she lived by what she had searched. Another man’s records were released with Thelma’s and the reports showed that he had searched for things like how to kill his wife (pg. 60). I personally had no idea that there is a “big brother” out there watching what we search and look at on our electronic devices (pg. 48). Of course I had known that even the things we delete off the internet are never really deleted. Although, I feel that our
The book I choose is Unbroken By Lauren Hillenbrand. This book is the life story of Louie Zamperini. Lauren Hillenbrand had wrote a book before and it was about Seabiscuit and When she first interviewed Louis he said “Don’t worry I’ll be easier to talk to than a horse”. Louis Zamperini ran in the 1936 Olympics, The 1936 Olympics were in Germany .He ran the 5000 meter he got 8th place. Though he got 8th place he did have a very fast finish. So fast it caught the attention Adolf hitler. After the olympics Louie became an actor. One day while he was acting he got a letter from the USAAF (United States Army Air Force) in September of 1941 wanting to enlist him for World War II. He earned Commission as Second Lieutenant and was a bombardier. During

The book Nineteen Minutes ended with an shocking conclusion. In the scene Peter Houghton had just finished shooting his way through the school, when he encountered his old best friend Josie Cormier and his long-time bully Matt Royston in the locker room of the high school gym. When Peter held up his gun to shoot Matt, Josie screamed which startled Peter, and made him drop his backpack which caused another gun to fall out of his bag. It was a warm day in Greece and Legend 27 was tirelessly practicing basketball. He had the biggest game of the season the next day against the top team in the country, the Titans. He had been waiting for this game for his whole life and the time had finally come. He was going to win the National Championship. It would take a lot of hard work and determination, so he continued to practice for hours. He was so focused on making his next shot that he didn’t even notice a beautiful goddess appear near him on the court. “I am Hera, queen of the gods,” the powerful goddess said to Legend 27. “I came to help you win your basketball game. Normally I wouldn’t help a mortal with something of such little importance, but it just so happens that the coach
In Okay For Now, written by Gary D. Schmidt, he wrote about certain people who talk about their rough times, and they say okay for now because things could always get worse. In the book, the characters best for the topic is Doug, Lil, and Lucas. They all struggle with something, but they keep it to themselves for the most part. Okay For Now means the characters feel good and Doug, Lil, and Lucas all feel okay at the moment.
The books I decided on checking out included the titles Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Noughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman. I have been interested in these particular novels for quite some time since they were on my summer reading list. These books were on my list because I enjoy stories that discuss race. Needless to say, I never had the chance to read either book for various reasons. Entering the DePaul library, I was not looking for any specific title. I remembered my summer list and searched for the two titles. Half of a Yellow Sun was not available through the DePaul campus library. I was then advised by the librarian to have it transferred from another
The Chancellor grants Day a three day cease fire to give Day time to make up his mind. Soon thereafter the call, Day witnesses Tess being taken under quarantine from being infected with the very disease causing the war to rampage. On the first day of the promised ceasefire, June and Day profess their love for each other. Day wakes up in the middle of the night in June’s bed, Day is fooled that June is asleep and goes on a walk where he ends up visiting his old house, where June follows him to. June witnesses Day reminiscing about all that he once had, and the pain of losing his family (which June had been deeply involved in). June had previously noticed the way Day flinched and retreated from her before, and is enveloped in sadness at the fact that she wished that they were just normal people that one day passed on the street, and stopped to say hi (Day’s previous wish he had confessed to June the night they professed their love). On the second day Eden is sent to the hospital for experimenting for the cure. June is on her way to a senator meeting when she notices that Commander Jameson is following her. She follows her, but then June thinks that she may have lost her. June calls in with Anden to inform him, but is cut short when Commander Jameson attacks her. June barely makes it out alive. June and Day then convince Anden to pretend surrender to The
