Yelling “KOBE” while throwing a crumpled paper ball into the trashcan is something every sports fan in the world have done at one point of their life. After winning five time NBA championships, voted two time NBA Final MVP, two time scoring champion, his accomplishments speaks for his greatness, and that is Kobe Bryant. Bryant is now a retired professional basketball player who played in Los Angeles Lakers for 20 years. Throughout his remarkable career, Bryant developed a heroic figure as he pursued Michael Jordan’s footsteps and overcoming him toward the end of his career. He is considered a hero because he has the trait of being determined, fearless, and inspirational.

Bryant was known as the Villain of the league because he was so fearless when it came to taking many shots including ones that were very important, such as game winning shot. Bryant was a player who did not mind confronting his teammates when they made mistakes on and off the court. In the article “Why Kobe Bryant is Basketball’s Comeback King” Steve McPherson explains how Kobe Bryant went 0 for 4 on the three point range and 4 for 10 on two point range in one of the important playoff game against the Utah Jazz. After the game Kobe Bryant stated “I would go 0-30 before I would go 0-9, 0-9 means you beat yourself, you psyched yourself out of the game” This quote encourages how Kobe is fearless of his failure or the critics and is more confident on his skills. Most of the players will reduce their attempts on shooting and look for passes after they miss shots consecutively. Although some people may say that Bryant is arrogant for taking reckless shots and he his selfish rather than being fearless. Bryant’s accomplishments, competitiveness, and work ethic is very inspiring to the fans of sport. Playing for one of the biggest franchise team for 20 years and winning five championship is something no other player has done except Kobe Bryant. Bryant has also maintained his high level performance in the most competitive league by spending time on his craft for many hours and extending his time on recovery by icing and playing less minutes during each game. One of the most inspiring moment in Bryant’s career is him coming back from torn achilles during the game against the Golden State Warriors in 2013. Bryant tore the tendon as he fell from getting a shooting foul, he stayed on the court and made his two free throws which led to a remarkable win. His eager to win a game is ambitious than any players. At the age of 34, it is very difficult for top athletes to come back from serious injury but Bryant never gave up so he embraced his injury to put himself through a very intense rehabilitation to bounce back from his step back. In the article “Kobe Bryant: I inspire myself by inspiring others” Kobe Bryant stated “ when people say you can’t come back from that…. I’ve had those doubts about myself but i’m not gonna cower to those doubts. I’m not going to be scared” This quote demonstrates how inspiring Kobe is because his willingness to fight back his serious injuries and embracing the fear that is created by others and
