In recent news, there has been a string of attacks all over the world; each attack has been related to terrorism. A passenger boarded a train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, armed with a box cutter, a pistol and an AK-47 with intent to harm innocent people. Four passengers on the train quickly subdued the terrorist before anyone could be harmed. In November, Paris, France was struck with terror when three armed men set off a string of attacks throughout the city, to include a bomb and active shootings. This attack left nearly 127 people killed and wounded. Most recently, in San Bernadino, California a man and woman left from a holiday party and returned with assault rifles. Privacy and safety of citizens is common in today's society, as well as the government looking over their shoulder at all times. As an example, George Orwell wrote a book called, "1984" which in it gave an outlook of society being taken over by a party. Government surveillance is different from protecting and bringing safety to the citizens, it violates their freedom, privacy, and human rights.

KILLEEN, Tex., Oct. 16— A crazy man smashed a blue pickup truck that frightened many people because they didn't know what to expect: into a busy restaurant during their lunchtime(probably the last lunch they would ever have), stepped out of the cab, shot 22 innocent people dead and wounded at least 20 others.As a blood-drenched patrons and employees tried to scramble to safety and avoid that crazy man , dozens of police officers arrived and exchanged gunfire with the man, apparently wounding him. He then shot and killed himself with a bullet through the left eye(great decision), witnesses said.The 23 deaths make the attack the worst mass shooting ever to occur in the United States. The police said the killer, a 35-year-old man, reloaded and emptied his Glock-17, a semi automatic .9 millimeter pistol, several times.About 80 people were in the restaurant, many of them taking a break from work with their superiors on National Boss's Day.

The most recent mass shooting in the U.S. is the San Bernardino, California shooting that took place at a center for people with developmental disabilities on Wednesday December 2, 2015. On that Wednesday, that staff were partaking in a holiday party when a couple barged in and opened fire, killing fourteen people and wounding seventeen others. The

Further, a mass shooting occurred on December 2, 2015 in the Inland Regional Center, which provides services to the disabled, in San Bernardino, California. Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, a couple armed with .233-caliber assault rifles, and two nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistols, which were all legally purchased, shot and killed fourteen people and injured twenty-one. After engaging in a shootout with police, the couple was killed. The victims were people Farook knew because he worked with them. The shooters left 1,400 rounds for the rifle and 200 for the pistols in a car rental. Last weekend a man posted up on the thirty-second floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. He stocked piled twenty-three weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. On Sunday, October 1, he opened fire on an outdoor country music festival, raining bullets for fifteen minutes on the terrified crowd of Americans. Fifty-eight people were murdered and more than five-hundred wounded. This was an act of violence far greater than anywhere else in the modern world, in fact it was the deadliest mass shooting in American history. I have been shaken to the core knowing that my cousin and three high school friends attended this concert that night and miraculously made it out alive.

Recently at Rockville high school a 14 year old girl was raped by two older kids in the bathroom. Because of this incident, Montgomery County has realized how poor the security is in each school. They are enforcing new rules to make the schools more secure. I agree with the new change in security because some schools might not have security cameras or guards to protect the school. But, some people also don’t agree with the new rules.

On December 2, 2015 80 employees of the San Bernardino county health department were attending a holiday event. The event was taking place in the convention building at the Inland Regional Center. At around 11 a.m. two shooters with semiautomatic rifles and pistols walked in and opened fire. Fourteen were killed and 21 wounded.

Our society would not survive in the 21st century without the help of electronic surveillance. Safety is one of the main purposes of electronic surveillance. Safety is the state of being secure and free from danger of any sort. Today, many would rather give up their privacy for safety (Smithsimon). In fact, surveillance gadgets such as cameras, radio tracking chips and house alarms are used in many places to ensure safety. For instance, a parent can easily place a hidden camera in a stuffed animal in order to see how the babysitter handles his or her child (Public Places Have Eyes).
