The band has been in play since 2009 and now holds many recitals. They teach individuals how to learn and play any instrument. They also play and join in local parades. Ka'u Community Chorus has been around longer than the school itself. The chorus began in 1996 and was known as the Ka'u Ecumenical Choir. The program offers opportunities for people to sharpen up their vocal skills. Just like the band, the chorus hold their own performances and concerts. All around the United States, art programs are being cut out of the budget in public schools. The arts include dance, band, chorus, theatre, film, drawing, painting, photography and literary arts. Some school board members feel these art programs are not necessary and do not benefit the students in any way. Elementary, middle, and high school students are forced to quit their passion and feel that their talents are not supported by their schools. Although many are not aware, there is a strong connection between arts education and academic achievement. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts in many public schools, the art classes are first on the list to be cut. It is important that the students, parents and teachers
The educational subject areas focusing on the fine arts and cultural studies are notable for their many shared developmental outcomes and related teaching methodology challenges. Analysis of previously implemented art-based programs and learning strategies devised to supplement cultural studies indicates it may be a uniquely productive approach. The use of creative instruction in forms including but not limited to play-acting, creation of visual arts, and musical instruction has high effectiveness in the context of maximizing student receptivity to cultural transmission. Students of both subjects have also been observed to demonstrate markedly improved intellectual, behavioral, and emotional growth from programs which integrate up-to-date modern research and intuitive planning to navigate the complex environment of cultural pluralism. Many such programs feature the direct involvement of artists and other relevant professionals with students to enrich and ensure the quality of the educational experience.
Hula: Hawaii is known for hula dancing and local halaus (hula schools) in Maui often have demonstrations.
5. I was really interested in the National Art Education Association, this is an organization that helps and assists teacher who choose to teach through visual arts. Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the significance of kalo in traditional Hawaiian society and modern society of Hawaii.
This particular group did not perform any kahiko pieces, mainly performing modern hula and genres of hula stemming after the King Kalākaua’s Hawaiian Renaissance. Due to the lack of kahiko performance, there was no monophonic texture in the auditory portion of the performance. If anything, the one quality that alluded to the modern style of dance was the facial expressions of the dancers. With pleasant looks on their faces, it did not resemble the strictness of kahiko styled hula. The hula dancers did not use any instruments, instead, they relied on their portrayal of the text through their hand movements and gestures. They wore typical muʻumuʻu’s and wore their hair up, with local flora decorating

I think that Okoboji High School should adopt a year round schooling schedule. I think this would benefit our school in many ways. It would benefit students because they wouldn’t have to worry about forgetting ideas or topics while also having separate breaks. The teachers wouldn’t have to worry changing units in the middle or having to change their lesson plans because if we had a 45-15 plan, they could teach for 45 days then have 15 off.
One of Amazima’s primary goals that they hope to achieve is to provide an education to all underprivileged children. “The Amazima School is a classical Christ-centered secondary school that exists to equip Ugandan students with the tools of learning to enable them to live fully for the glory of God.” The Amazima School “emphasizes academic excellence, servant leadership, and nurturing relationships.” Not only does the Amazima organization provide children with an excellent education, they provide each child with “a loving home, invested house parents, excellent teachers, nutritious food, great extra-curricular opportunities, strong academics, and vocational studies all within a biblical worldview.” The Amazima ministry believes each child
For the last few decades there has been a war going on, not a war of bullets or missiles but a war of ideas and control. A group of individuals wishes nothing more than to control the world’s population and resources. It all started with Project MKULTRA. Project MKULTRA was started in the 1950s by the United States Government to study the psychological states of a human in different situations and environments and whether or not a human could be programmed or controlled- it has come much farther than a few studies and experiments however, and is used today to control world politics, influence the ideology of the masses through media and controlled celebrities, produce Manchurian candidates (humans with alternate personalities designed to do
New York City is the epitome of cultural integration, merging the artistic elements of varying cultures and incorporating the diverse population as portrayed through the works of the students at The New School. At The New School, I hope to immerse myself into contemporary art, and enhance my global knowledge. Through the Arts program, with the concentration of Arts in Context, I know I will be able to contribute to The New School’s global community; in addition to broadening my global awareness of the importance of art and
We hope to create this new arts education plan for our new middle school while maintaining a strong elementary arts education program. At Topeka High, there are many extracurricular activities students participate in. Activities such as sports, choir, band, debate, theater, ROTC, and many different clubs. However, vocal music is an activity that consumes every waking minute of my day.
I am the kind of person who believes that experiencing unity, positivity, love and passion are crucial. Although our nation strives to be united, it is apparent that there are many situations where we are divided. However, in Hawaii, I am finding that these types of experiences are easily attainable. It’s Saturday, May 10, 2014, and I have just arrived in Waikiki, Hawaii for my Make-a-Wish. Everyone is chanting, singing, praising, and just appearing together as one. My goal for the week is to learn more about the culture, its traditions, and its people. Hawaii is a place with an incredible history and culture, much different from mine. That is why I have so much interest in this culture. The luaus, the food, and the overall environment is what is drawing me in, and are some of the more intriguing aspects of the Hawaiian culture.
