Interviewer: I want to thanks you for agreeing to be interviewed. As I told you this interview will be audio taped and anything that you say, will be kept under strict confidence and I will go over that as I read the instructions. We are conducting a study about work and health among women who work in service sector jobs, like retail, food service, child care and home health. In particular, we are interested in how this kind of employment affects health and access to healthcare.
During this interview we would like to ask you different questions about topics like, work, scheduling and how work fits into your daily routine. Whether it is difficult for you to get a doctor and what your supervisor or company’s attitude is if you have to call in sick, either for yourself or to take care of someone else. Just remember, all of your answers will be kept strictly confidential. This study is being conducted by the Research Foundation of SUNY Albany, in particular the Center for the Elimination for Minority Health Disparities at the university.
The goal of the project is to identify successful strategies for overcoming barriers for reproductive healthcare seeking and counter to underserve a minority women in small towns and cities and to improve women 's reproductive health. Some of these barriers are lack of knowledge about guidance for preventive reproduction health, lack of transportation to provider locations, and privacy concerns. In addition, certain types of jobs
The researchers have provided a clear reason where they have conducted their study by choosing a single metropolitan hospital in UK and recruited their participants from that area that aimed to acquire perceptions from the participants about dignity in a healthcare setting. At the same time, determine the participants experiences in a changing cultural attitude for older people. (words 58)
The interview process is something we have all gone through in order to get any job. It may not be our dream job but it is a job and we all have to do this process in order to even be able to start working. In Katy Piotrowski’s article “Preparing for the Job Interview: Know Thyself,” she explains everything that you need to know and not know when going to a job interview. Graduating college and having a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing is what I look forward to doing in the next two years. I will be discussing myself applying for a position in the nursing department. Being the right candidate for this RN nursing position in hospice care requires a lot of hard work and dedication, and that is why I am a good candidate for this position.
The limits of this proposal will encompass women between the ages of 18-64 living in the El Paso area. Language in legislation restricting reproductive health care is specifically targeted at women, so they will be the focus of this study. The Texas “Healthy Texas Women” Program defines women of reproductive age as women 18-64 (Texas Health and Human Services, n.d.). This standard will be used because “Healthy Texas Women” is the state Medicaid Program for women’s health, and was greatly impacted by funding cuts (White et al., 2012). The services provided by “Healthy Texas Women” also create a standard of reproductive care.
Recent advancements in technology offer the organizations of today and the future boundless opportunities for improvements in service delivery. Although experts agree that the alignment of technology and the overall business strategy is both necessary and imperative, no clear path to optimum alignment exists. Christopher Nuckles, a IT Director I interviewed demonstrated full awareness of this fact. he and the company’s CIO, Matt Carey, and the executive IT leaders and displayed optimism the “interconnected retail strategy” they have for the company will ensure that Home Depot remains the product authority for home improvement. As part of the technical team that developed, enhanced, or supported several of the technological systems at Home Depot, Nuckles believes that the key to a successful technological future is innovation. Nuckles recognizes that the biggest hurdle for the Home Depot technology is the emerging e-commerce and he adds that Home Depot is ready for the boom. He explains that plans are underway to optimize the Home Depot mobile application entirely and make it available on all platforms so that the company remains relevant as technology keeps advancing.
The most challenging, diversity-related situation that I have faced, and will likely face in my nursing career is successful recruitment and retention of minority nurses, and foreign graduate nurses in employment facilities, especially the hospitals. In addition, I have experienced disparities in health care and the outcomes as far as majority and racial or ethnic minority are concern and underserved individuals are well recorded. The health care quality and access for minority populations and those with low -income consistently do not keep pace with other groups. While
My target group for this assignment is African – American men. I encounter members of this group on daily basis, and would like to learn more about this particular group’s workplace experience as it relates to diversity; more precisely if they are experiencing different treatment due to their ethnicity and gender. Even though I encounter members of this group on daily basis, I do not work with members of this group and have not in my previous jobs. I have very little understanding of their views and experiences pertaining to work environment. This group differs from me in two dimensions: gender and ethnicity. This is a distinct group for this essay since I am Caucasian and female. I grew up in Albania and moved to the United States when
In the last twenty years, the rising number of disparities in health and healthcare has increased simultaneously with the influx of minorities within the population (Baldwin, 2003) A4. As the size of an ethnically diverse population steadily continues to increase, so will the level of complexities of patients’ health needs, which nurses and other healthcare staff will be expected to address (Black, 2008) A1. The issue of racial, ethnic and health disparities for minorities exists for several complex reasons, however, even with this being widely known, very little action has been taken to try and correct it (Baldwin, 2003) A4. Research findings suggest that without actively implementing cultural diversity within the healthcare workforce, quality in healthcare will decline while health disparities continue to rise (Lowe & Archibald, 2009) A3. So although the shortage of nursing staff should be a high-priority for change in the U.S., the need for more registered nurses with racially
This study will use a qualitative research method to reveal and discover the barriers experienced by African Americans in accessing health care services. We will conduct the in-depth, standardized open-ended interview. The standardized open-ended interview let the researcher develop a set of
At the present time, approximately 70% of our workforce is white and 30 % comprising of Blacks, Hispanics and non-Caucasians. In addition, these percentages appear to mimic the population that we serve. According to the US Census (2010), the community in which services are provided is comprised of 80.9% Whites, 14.9% Black and 12.1% Hispanic. These figures alone may lead one to believe that the occurrence of healthcare disparities is low, but
The topic of minorities in the workforce and how the struggle to accomplish equal treatment in today’s workforce is nothing new to our society. For centuries we have been concerned that by bringing together our different backgrounds, skills, and experiences, as well as the many businesses of this great
For my interview assignment, I spoke with Jeffrey Rothstein, a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and corrective exercise specialist (CES) at the PT Center in Akron, Ohio. His primary job there for the past eight years has been to develop training programs for athletes that help prevent injury and improve performance. Mr. Rothstein has a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in exercise science from the University of Pittsburgh. He has credentials from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), USA Weightlifting, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Before interviewing Mrs. Gallagher, an ELL teacher at Lowell Elementary, I had the pleasure to sit and observe one of her classes in the morning. The school uses a push-out system where students are pulled out of the regular classroom for ELL. The students are to report to ELL at 8:30am for a 40-minute lesson. The class consisted of 9 students, all diverse ranging from Hispanic, Asian, and African American. The students were seated in small round tables with 5 seats each. I noticed that the room was relatively small. I also observed that the shelves were filled with books on languages, parts of speech, and countless storybooks. The supplies and objects in the room were all labeled, for

Conducting interviews is fundamental as a case manager. In order to understand more about good interviewing, I decided to watch an interview about an addict mother conducted by Dr. Phil. While watching this interview, I made some notes on attitudes and characteristics that I considered important for good interviewing. The characteristics will be presented in the following paragraphs.
Women of color are experiencing reproductive health disparities in that they are less likely to receive adequate reproductive health care despite the advanced health care services the United States is known to provide (Webb, 2004, p.1). The minority women are unable to receive adequate, quality reproductive health care because they are less likely to have access to reproductive health care in addition to contraceptives,
