Interpersonal Communication Analysis

Communication takes place in any and all locations, intentionally and unintentionally, and it can be positive or negative. Many of our personal traits and character qualities can affect how we communicate with other people, and how they communicate with us. Recently, I had an experience that further proved this point to me in a very real and tangible way.

Throughout our whole lives, we spend the majority of our time communicating in some way or form. Many people in today’s society are uninformed of all the key concepts and importance of communication, such as interpersonal communication. One major concept in the field of communication is Interpersonal Communication. Many concepts of Communication can be demonstrated in everyday life or even in our favorite movies. This analysis is from the movie, “Blind Side”. There are many concepts of Interpersonal Communication included in this film. Self Concept, Self Esteem, Stereotype, Perception, and Stages of Relationship are just a few concepts that are utilized throughout this movie.

When this assignment was given out, I instantly knew exactly what relationship I wanted to analyze: my ex-boyfriend’s and my relationship. It might sound like an odd relationship to choose, seeing as he is an ex, and it might not sound like a good starting point, but let me first say he is one of my best friends right now.

Throughout the years people have been given the privilege of interpersonal communication in many forms, such as letters, emails, texts, and social media. Letters were one of the very first mediums people used to communicate, and as the years went by technology improved, and emails were created. Emails served as a faster alternative for people in a business to contact someone else. Following that was the idea of text messaging, not only was it time efficient but also easier. That wasn’t the only thing connecting people all around the world though. Much like text messages “E-mail” is a letter that you type on a cellular telephone or a Computer which I will explain to you in my next letter. My wife and I have differing opinions regarding the importance of housework. For me, a clean home constitutes feelings of peace, happiness, and a clear mind. My wife on the other hand, feels that organization and cleanliness of the home are not essential to happiness within the home, but that the moments shared within the home create happiness. These personal schemas are important to consider in the upcoming interaction, as our dog has just given birth to a litter of puppies. This afternoon I was feeling overwhelmed. My wife spent the better part of the day sleeping, after a long shift. This left me with dishes, laundry, housework, and puppies to attend to. I felt like I was bearing more of the load in our relationship

I enjoyed your post for this week. It is hard to believe this is the last week of class yet it is rewarding. I can agree with your take on schizophrenia being a difficult mental disorder. It would be very hard to live with because you don't know any different. The mind tells the person that what they see and hear are really there even though they really are not. Having people not believe you or not understand what is happening would be just as scary and frustrating. Most people who are diagnosed with this tend to become violent because they are fighting themselves and others out of frustration. I like you idea of the treatment/housing facility. This is not my first time working in a team. However, I was usually working with someone who I was familiar with before the class. It was a challenge. I was totally clueless about my teammates, about their skills and characteristics. The worst thing was we had to form a group in our first day. Luckily, we got to know each other by a short introduction.
