Improvised Artist Goals

For a long time I aspired to become a teacher of the arts. I had always felt it was my duty to share my passion with others. I wanted not only to teach individuals about the color pallets VanGough idealized, but also to show in times of need how art can be your best friend. Whenever I find myself caught up in the mysteries of life I turn to my sketch pad and there I find clarity. It may not always result in an answer but creating art simplifies the heart.

As a young child, I often transformed my grandma's dwelling into my own personal canvas. Fueled by morning cartoons, I would concoct detailed illustrations of the oddities in my imagination and intricate pictures of my family and surrounding. It was evident I had been blessed. I was never discouraged from my routine doodling either, just encouraged to channel that creativity on to anything but our walls. When I started public schooling some years later I was introduced to the scope of what art really was. Painting, drawing, photography-It was a world unknown to me then. Getting into the specialty center would mean a lot to me. I love art and want to learn more about how I could improve to become better and better. I have always wanted to become a famous artist or just any regular art teacher when I grow older throughout the years. My favorite art media to use is just using pencil or making objects out of clay. I take art as a way of focusing on what you feel by not physically talking it out like an art therapist. It gives me confidence knowing that what I feel like doing is the best thing for me to do.

As the only child, of my mother, I often faced the problem of not having someone to play with forcing more creativity. I often did various arts and crafts projects, but I found that I enjoyed drawing the most. With each drawing I become completely engrossed partially because it is a self-taught skill that requires focus, but also because I must be patient with myself as I work towards what I envision and learn new techniques. The Art of Drawing is a skill that I can continuously develop and perfect. The patience that my artwork teaches goes beyond the work itself. It demonstrates the importance of accepting my weaknesses and working towards bettering them. I am able to properly release the struggles I encounter and not be consumed because of my artwork. Creating my drawings is more than expression, but also self-discovery because I can be more honest with myself, embracing who I am and what I feel. However, from time to time I do encounter “artist block” and the exhibitions held at the museum of fine arts at Florida State University could provide inspiration much like my environment here at Spelman

As an artist, there are three current self-promotional career goals I have to achieve. My first goal is to be a freelance artist by selling my own artwork online. Most of my artwork consists of concept arts and traditional drawings. My second goal is to publish a children’s illustration book that I made before attending Art School. My aim is to sell my book towards children between 7-12. My final goal (and most important) is to apply for an intern at Pixar animation. I already saw a couple of interns that worked at Pixar and they said it was the mostly enjoyable career they ever have. These are my three goals and there are many steps to take in order to fulfill this dream.

The amount of success we will have is based on planning. Imagining myself as an artists has always been my focus, still I allowed other opinions and ideas to influence me to change my decision. My focus is on how successful I’ll be. I want to be financially stable and not dependent on others. Faced with these choices I have automatically washed away my dreams of being an artist. The career path I’ve been focusing on now is Criminal Justice. No matter what I do, I want to be satisfied and productive to my career.

Once in high school, I put my all into my art. I started exploring different styles and types of art, like design. I applied my skills everywhere: from designing the yearbook for eight years straight to photographing for the Admissions team. I toyed with mediums like acrylic and watercolor as I deviated from the paper I used to use. One of the greatest injustices in modern America revolves around the difference in quality of education that students from different classes receive. My goal in life is to help lessen this achievement gap, and to provide quality education to students with lessons and skills that last a lifetime. Most significantly, I am an artist and I love to teach. I also believe every child deserves a chance at following their dreams, and a chance to allow themselves to dream. I plan to use my knowledge of art, art history, and child psychology, my skills in art and relating to people, and my passion for teaching to achieve this goal of a more humane and just world.

To create worlds, weave stories and bring to life the characters that had filled my imagination since my childhood. Even after taking a pause in my education I kept drawing in my spare time. At first it was just to help me pass free time but as my comics grew more in depth I realized just how much of my life was impacted by my passion for drawing and design. I started studying and learning new techniques trying to enhance my personal skills but I could never satisfy my inner desire. Finally, one day I put the pen of my wacom tablet down after working on a page of a comic I had written and just looked at it. For the first time in my life, I genuinely enlightened by my work. It was in that moment that I knew it was good but “good” wasn’t enough. I wanted my passions to bring my work to the quality that I had set as my standard, but I wasn’t sure what would make those standards happen. Ever since I had started my studies a UA-Little Rock, my artistic goals has been refined, but I still like to stay true to what I love. This go around, my artistic goals are about exploring the human emotions and many different ways of investigating it through movement, spoken text and improvisation. I am dancer, but I am also an actor who loves to explore and integrate both into one. David Dorfman is a prime example to what I enjoy, but I am trying to still like an artist and make it my own. I am loving my dance history class and one of many things I have learned is that everyone is a dancer. The amount of years of training doesn’t make you a dancer. In my lifetime, I want to explore working with actor in way of having them find the voice in their bodies. As far as my educational goals, being in my differing general classes, I am learning more about the world. That’s being broad. Being in the knowledge about history, the anatomy, and good writing skills would only improve and help me with my artistic goals.

My goal at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham is to ultimately become a chef and to one day own a restaurant.The only way to achieve the goal that I have set for myself is through hard work and dedication. Culinary has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. It all started with my grandmother giving me the freedom to use her kitchen as I saw fit. From there arose a passion that I did not really understand at that time. Not knowing that the little feeling of passion for cooking was really my dedication to the art beginning to grow inside of me. Art. To me is something undefinable, what I want my art to show you is a piece of myself and a piece of yourself. Something we can all relate to; a memory, a song, a poem, art should make you feel something. Art is a gift, a tool we can use to hide beauty in ordinary places and things. I want to broaden my understanding of design and the world that art is beyond my knowledge and experiences. Because my love for creating burns so bright and deep within me, I am determined to find a career path that will allow me to explore the world of design and art every day. A number of art forms are endless and this seems like a daunting task to find just one path that can express the enjoyment and involvement I want to have with art. Throughout my life I have been endlessly drawing, painting, sculpting and creating--often times I feel almost cursed with such talent to create because the ability seems endless. I have taken a number of art classes exploring my passions as a High School Student and created many different types of works including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings; etching, embossed, and screen printmaking; charcoal, graphite, and pastel drawings; Sculpting with ceramics and plaster as well as wheel pieces. I find that there is few mediums I have yet to experiment with. I have become accustomed to Acrylic paintings as I have recently started to create paintings and sell them to community members. In life I want to become a fashion designer. My goals are to create clothing that is for all sizes, ages, and genders. In my clothing I want t show a creative side of my art ability and I want to make my clothing affordable for all as well. I think I influenced myself to wanting to become a fashion designer because I have a passion for art and wanting to become a fashion designer.
