Human rights which include the right to life and liberty as well as freedom that belong to all human beings inherently despite of their statuses without discrimination (United Nations, 1948). Among issues of human rights, women’s rights could be one of the most serious ones. In the 1990s, women’s rights were not generally accepted as human rights and suffered various violations (Bunch, 1990). Despite women’s rights have been improved so far in most regions that female have almost equal employment opportunities and enhanced status in society, the issues of female rights need to be considered because they still have inferior positions compared with men in workplace and society due to a lot of factors.

In 10 December 1948 “The Universal declaration of human rights” was declared to protect the freedom of every human being of the planet. These human rights were declared as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world. After World War II, a committee heated by Mrs. Roosevelt wrote a special document and its main purpose was to bring peace around the world. Although human rights was declared to give freedom and rights to every living being in the planet, I claim that not all of the human right is protected, one of which I believe is violation of women’s right because of gender discrimination, education and increasing women poverty and violence against women.

Human rights are universal rights that we are entitled to. It is a freedom that is guaranteed based on the principle of respect for an individual. As mentioned in the preamble of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, human rights are a “recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all member of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace in the world” (Kent, page 80). When asked what our rights are, we tend to get different answers and meanings. Some people recite the rights that they know; but let’s face it, not everyone knows all of the rights that they truly have. Even though human rights should be given to people without the act of protesting, people still gather together, hold up enormous signs, and march forward to obtain their rights. Human rights are recognized by most of the nations; however, the actual situation of the world is different from ideals written in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Most of the times, rights are violated by selfishness of leaders because they want to gain even more power and wealth. In some cases, these rights are violated for good consequences for large group of people, but it is still harmful for others. No matter what the cause of violation is, it is important for everyone to protect everyone’s rights because human rights are given simply because they are human being. Although human rights are not provided for certain people due to issues such as poverty, human rights are intentionally violated by people, mainly leaders and dictators to benefit themselves by taking people’s rights away, which shows strong negative relationships between human rights and power.

The international community has been paid close attention to the human rights issues since the World War II, and the importance of human rights as well as individual freedoms has been emphasized increasingly. According to Donnelly, human rights are the essential aspects that every person should be entitled. Even though human rights legislation may be different because of the political structure of the various sovereign states, there are still fundamental human rights that should be universal to all countries in the world, for example, food, personal security and the freedom of thought. These are the basic needs that should be provided to every human being throughout the world. Failure to adhere to them is, therefore, the violation of human rights. Furthermore, while enjoying one’s human rights, the individual should also respect and protect others’ rights, which is considered to be the correlative responsibilities of his rights (Donnelly, 2013).

The universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted in 1948 is the leading treatise on human rights. The declaration has received much criticism and praise since its inception. The most outstanding criticism of the universal declaration challenges the universality of human rights. The view is that some, if not most, of the provisions in the declaration stems from the customs of the western world. This, therefore, makes human rights inapplicable in and incompatible with other cultures. Human rights is a result of successive struggles in the west. This issue creates a problem in relating cultural rights and the universal nature of human rights. The tension between the two and the concept of cultural relativism are the central elements in contesting the universal nature of human rights. In this respect, this paper will discuss the universal nature of human rights.

Human rights are a basic right for every living person on Earth. Regardless of differences, every person has the right to basic needs in order to sustain their life. A current issue in Florida involves a law, HB 401, which will be active in July of this year that affects members of the LGBT community as well as those who wish to practice exercising their religious freedoms. Choosing to live life with morals and values that are highly ethical might differ from person to person. One group should not be allowed to interfere with the basic human rights of another group in order to further their own agenda. Non-biased members of communities could assist both groups in working together to find a peaceful solution that respects everyone 's basic human rights.

Human rights are rights that are believed to belong justifiably to every person no matter what situation, race, or gender. These rights are what protect us, they help all of us such as difrent genders, and race. Human rights were given to us to protect us from harm but there are evil people who do not care and will make you feel like you’re nothing and not worthy of rights. Human trafficking makes people feel like they’re nothing and or maybe even would rather kill themselves then have to live through all the painful things those people do.

Human rights are a notion long-debated in history. Two of the three main claims of human rights characteristics are universality and inconvertibility. Universality indicates that human rights are applied equally to every individual, no matter their ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, age, religion, political conviction, or type of government. Inconvertibility means that human rights are absolute and innate. They cannot be removed or denied by any political authority as they are not authorized by the state. Moreover, they do not require reciprocal responsibilities, and are not contradicted by the lack thereof. Nonetheless, universality and inconvertibility are two unrelated concepts. It is one thing to announce that these fundamental rights are applied to the whole world and it is another to think that these rights are unchangeable and inherent. Therefore, even if the global community agrees upon a set of rights that does not mean they are absolute and innate for every circumstance which results in a conflict of rights (O’Byrne, 2003: 27). All over the world women from various cultural and social backgrounds have a long tradition of rights and responsibilities to live in society with respect and dignity. Though there are difference between men and women in specific aptitude, powers and functions they have to be regarded as complementary to each other. We can’t deny that one sex is making up what other lacks acting in specific sphere in different roles. But throughout the history women observe oppression, maltreatment and discrimination. To provide for the women their rights and responsibilities they have the world community came forward with the volume of conventions, conferences, treaties and municipal laws for example The Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR) 1948, The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) 1966, The European Convention on Human Rights and so on. But the diverse imposed customs, social mentality, reluctance of government, orthodoxies and superstitions are keeping their rights suffocated.

India has been a country where great sagas and thinkers like Vivekanand, Ravindra Nath Tagore etc., mathematician - Arya Bhata and female singer – Lata Mangeshkar etc. have been borne. It has also been rich in culture throughout the world. Despite, there are discriminations after discrimination in the country; Caste, Creed, Religion and Gender Discrimination have been common evils for a long time. These evils are still wide spread and deep rooted in each nook and corner. Out of these social evils, Gender Discrimination has been trauma for womenfolk. It has never let the women live with an ease. Some time, to be married in so early age, and some time they were forced to immolate with the pyre of funeral of their husbands, and on the other, they were limited to homes due to sever and strict patriarchal bonds in society. They were not provided any chance to live freely, to show their talents, to express their views, thoughts and emotions and to work with their counterparts in any walk of life India has passed through various historical periods; Vedic, Buddhist, Muslim, British and Modern Period(20th and 21st century). In all those periods women have been harassed, humiliated and disgraced in many ways.
