Hillsborough Community College was first known as Hillsborough Junior College. It was established on October 4th, 1967 and was the 27th educational institute organized under the 28 other community junior colleges the council recommended. The founding president of HJC was Dr. R. William Graham. In the summer of 1968, a curriculum was developed that made it possible for students to get the necessary courses to help the student achieve an associates of arts degree. After getting an AA the student would be able to transfer to a university. I have lived in North Carolina for almost fifteen years now. Throughout this period I have seen the abundance of opportunities here in North Carolina especially in education. There are countless numbers of great colleges and universities, however, since I have lived in the mundane city of Greensboro I feel constricted in my environment. Wilmington, being close to the sandy beaches of Wrightsville beach and home to a great university has led me to consider moving east. UNC Wilmington, being the state’s coastal university reflects the values of numerous things such as ethics, integrity, and diversity. Throughout our state and our nation, there are a variety of options when it comes to higher education. In the state of North Carolina, one of the many community colleges is Fayetteville Technical Community College, also referred to as FTCC. One of the many universities in our state is the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which is also called UNC-Chapel Hill. I chose these two institutions because they are two of the places I am looking at to get my various degrees. When looking at these two places of education, we can see that there are many similarities, but there are also differences.

Being a Bunker Hill Community College student is not that easy unless you are associated with all the useful and valuable sources provided all over the school. As I seamlessly move from my high school experiences into a two-year college at Bunker Hill, I was so anxious to explore new things in the new college world. After I come to this college, I found that this college has many friendly and helpful resources that help me engaging myself in the new world. For example, I found that the admissions office staff members are very helpful in providing student information. Besides that, the school mentors are also helpful for bringing new students on a tour around Bunker Hill Community College. Furthermore, Life map Centre staff members are also very friendly in helping students organize their study plan and to register for class. The most interesting part is I found a reliable resource called A.C.E Mentor that tremendously could help the students to succeed in their classes.

My eyes lit up as a saw all of the different clubs and organizations offered. I loved Quiz Bowl, Book Club, Dance, and Chess Club in high school and I would love to continue these in my college life. Furthermore, at Rensselaer I can pursue my personal interest in sustainability with like-minded students through Vasudha. I could quickly see that many people at Rensselaer share similar interests with me. This idea was further supported after my subsequent tour around campus. Students were studying outside or milling about in groups, but what drew my eye was a group of students in vests and holding nerf guns. I watched as they prepared for battle and then took off after one another, and I had to stop myself from asking if I could join. The people I met and the students I talked to showed me the fun and encouraging side of a school that is known for its academics. Spending a couple hours on campus allowed me to see the fun, studious, and unique nature of Rensselaer and I felt right at

Opportunities I have been lucky enough to have. Currently I am president of The National Honor Society, Environmental Club, the Yearbook editor and Debate captain as well as a commissioner for the Bergen County Status of Women. All of which I treasure with my heart. In each and every one lays my blood, sweat, and tears. Those hallways have seen me endeavour some of my greatest successes and my even greater failures. But that's just the surface of what this school symbolizes and represents. Yes, I love participating in every single activity I do and prosper in, but it's beyond that. It's about walking through the front doors in the morning, opening my locker, and Mr. Colarusso announcing the designated block letter for the day even though regardless he knows I'll ask again at least three more times. It's about truly knowing my teachers, my coaches, and my advisors. As much as they have seen me mature, they have also been on the journey with me. It's watching Ms. Barrow's be promoted from Guidance Counselor to Vice Principal and still be so dedicated to my college

Through my experiences and achievements at California Baptist University, I can gain an academic advantage over my peers attending other schools. The amount of programs and majors offered at CBU will help me develop as an educated and experienced woman with a strong educational background at CBU. With the help of CBU, I can grow into my full potential and maintain a great headstart in entering the real world with a strong mentality of maturity. I have always maintained upstanding grades and high GPA in high school, and my attendance at CBU will merely continue my pattern of success.

Among the programs of Cypress College, the Student Center immediately distinguishes itself from all the others, students with questions instantly decide to come here. As this is one of the Center’s important functions, while inside there are all the different program coincidently working together inside to create the structure known as the Student Center, here, students come for being registering for school to requesting transcript, meet with counselors, and find helpful advice in finding a career within their major.

Coe College’s students each identity into their own various categories and subgroups of one another. These groups can be labeled by the individual's’ race, heritage, location, or more specific groups such as what sports the individual plays, what clubs, or what they value the most. Every person on Coe College’s campus is unique in their own way and if a narrow mind is looked upon an individual, it may seem that there is no common group between anyone. It is not until we extend past the differences to find commonalities that we can look upon to find common ground while still respecting the differences that make any person different from the other. For most of my first year in college I felt lost and alone; I was not really involved with clubs or organizations until my second year at Miami Dade Honors College and I don’t want to have that same experience while attending FIU. I know that being part of the Honors College at FIU will benefit me because of the tight knit community, but it is always good to have friends and communicate with people from all backgrounds. After breaking through my shell, I have learned that I enjoy other people’s company.

There are four major challenges that North Carolina State University students face in a day to day life. Those four are academic challenges, time management, social challenges, physical challenges. North Carolina state university has a rigorous course schedule and can cause major stress on students especially first-year students, all who are trying to learn the vast campus, make friends, form study groups, and excel academically; while also adjusting to the independence that any college brings.
