Group Work

I believe our group work is going well. We haven’t had many meetings concerning bringing all the work together, but people have been working had individually as noted in the annotated bibliography. One complaint is that in the agreement we said that the annotated bibliography would be completed by the Sunday before the due date, when in actuality two members did not add their work to the group until the day the assignment was due. However, this is minor in the larger scheme since it was completed and submitted on time. We have made plans to come together next week to work on the project together and how and where everyone’s contribution will be placed. Also when you use team work you have a better chance of getting your assignments right the first time. This is also where communication plays a part in teamwork. You have to be able to communicate with your group and express your opinions and ideas effectively.

Group work is an important part of work. In many jobs, group work is a function that is required. Therefore it’s important to develop the skills and practices at University. In this essay I critically analyse my own experiences against the literature.

Throughout life there are many instances in which an individual has to work in a group to complete a task/project. The importance of group work is to have teamwork with each member of the group. Humans are driven to connect with each other and by working as a group ideas become much more enriched and the ideas or thoughts that each person ‘brings to the table’ each individual is able to add onto that idea or it can trigger one to think of something completely different.

This change is important, and valuable for me because I did not used to work as a team. I preferred to work alone because I thought that working, as a team is waste time. However, I was wrong, and I was missing out on the benefits of teamwork, such as active learning, key critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills. All those factors are essential for the development of student learning. Now everything changed, I like to work in a group because I can share my ideas, and discuss one subject about it. In addition, teamwork has brought me many benefits in my life as a student. One of that benefits is I am more responsible. For instance, if I have to research one subject, I have to read many books or find the right information on the Internet, and deliver my investigation on time to discuss the information as

With the heterogeneous groups the level of discussion and cooperative work is increased, providing benefits for every student partaking. According to Paul Burden and David Byrd (2012), “Having students work in groups generally has a positive effect on their achievement when compared to their work as individuals.” Small-group work and discussions allows for students to improve their communication skill, cooperation skills, and gain new insight and understanding from their peers in a way that could not be achieved working alone.

Everyone remembers the times in middle school when their teachers would force them to work in groups of people they may or may not have liked. They would cause fights among the students in the groups, bring grades down, and take more time and effort. All reasons I do not agree with group work, and am against it.

Working in a group setting can cause strain on some individuals, but it also can be helpful to the same individual. Group projects are a major component to both negative and positive effects. I need to agree that group work helps students in the long run, even though I despise it. Group work is here to stay. The second reason I agree with group projects is it improves student's performance in school. They would get better grades because it is easier to get through difficult steps or parts.
