As I looked at the different categories on the Idealist website the about graduate school it listed some good points about graduate school and what I should expect as a graduate student and what the graduate school expects of me. The categories that were discussed were going to school part time, lifestyle changes and preparing for graduate school. I am taking every step to become an active agent in my learning experience in the MSW program. This is my second year as a part time student in the program so I know what is required of me and what to expect. This is my second time in a master’s degree program. I currently have a master’s degree that I hold and working on another is the same but quite different. I believe that this degree in the MSW
A tough decision one may face is choosing the most efficient college to attend. Community colleges and four year colleges are two equal choices a student might pick. Statistics, graphs and personal experiences will be provided by a variety of scholars. As a result, logos will be used to provide efficient evidence to summarize the claim. Two year schools and four year schools are two very popular types of colleges that students plan to study at. In short, community colleges and four year colleges differ in a great account. Community colleges were first invented in the early twentieth century. The schools were designed to provide students with a small jump from high school to college. These schools were usually in areas of higher
I want to be a social worker and a master’s degree is necessary for my desired profession as a social worker. I am driven to attend graduate school at this time in my life because I am also seeking that sense of fulfillment. My plans immediately following graduation is to pursue a job as a licensed child/family social worker or a clinical social worker. Five to seven years following graduation, I plan to become a supervisor or greater in the field of social

To accomplish anything in life, you must set goals. These goals must be realistic and achievable. Two years ago, I was at a point in my life that I never believed I would see. I was finally at my associate’s degree graduation day. Becoming at teen mom at 17, college had never even crossed my mind. This was a moment in my life where I was able to not be your average teen mom statistic. Continuing to better my life and my daughter’s I set a new goal after graduation to achieve my bachelor’s degree. After speaking with UMUC counselors, I decided to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Social Science with a minor in Emergency Management. Currently, I am in my final two classes at UMUC with a scheduled graduation date of May 15.
All over America, undergraduate and postgraduate students are feeling the pressure of student loans and their debts. A student loan is a type of loan designed to help students pay for post-secondary education and the associated fees, such as tuition, books and supplies, and living expenses (Mitchell 15). While it may sound like an inviting way to pay for college, it comes with its downfalls. Rapidly rising college tuition costs have made student debt the only option to pay for college for many students (Kristof). Student loans are increasing $3,055 every second (Kristof). The average student in America graduates with $35,000 in student loans (Akers 18). In fact, student loans have become so popular, all together students have
Not many problems are black and white as they are in engineering. The determination of right and wrong is relative. Something that seems beneficial from one side may not seem so on the other. In order to reconcile such differences that pop up in the work world and in everyday life, interdisciplinary study can be a solution.
In the article, “Why we undervalue a liberal arts education”, written by Adam Chapnick posted March 6, 2013 explains people to understand the importance of liberal arts degrees. He wants people to how the importance is the same as STEM degrees. Most people believe STEM degrees are not successful life choices. He believes people don’t know what they learned so they need to teach liberal arts better and different so the people who graduate actually know what they learned. This article is not a credible source it is just his claims. Adam Chapnick’s article “Why we undervalue a liberal arts education,” needs more facts and reasons to back up his claims because his article is not factual mostly opinionated and to be credible facts must back up
In her article “Not all College Majors Are Created Equal”, Singletary states that engineering major with relevant internship within the innovation industry results in higher chances of attracting a good job. Unemployment is higher among high school dropouts compared to 22.9%, which represents the rate of unemployment among post-secondary graduates. Therefore, rates of employment among college degree holders are much higher than the chances a high school diploma can fill at workplace because of the differences in skills.
I am a sophomore at Liberty University located in Virginia. I am currently enrolled in the Interdisciplinary studies degree plan. As a child, my mother was a nurse who is deeply involved in her religion which is Christianity. She was my role model and I admired her dedication. I believed that I was religious, hardworking and dedicated just like my mother. My mother wanted me to be a nurse and to attend nursing school. In high school, I went to a school that mainly focused on the nursing curriculum outside of the basic high school leveled courses. However, after experiencing my time in the nursing courses throughout high school I did not seem to be very interest in that career. I wanted to be a lawyer, psychiatrist, or Business manager in Information
I completed my BS in Human Services in March 2015. Since that time, I have been researching a many colleges fluctuating between an MFT or MSW. I consider my graduate school decision to be a positive life-altering decision requiring much thought, and research. There are several reasons why I am interested in attending Walden. I like the fact that the MSW program courses are taught by faculty members who are scholar-practitioners, this makes a difference in the instruction one recieves. My undergrad was taught by professors empoloyed in the field of social work, MFT, etc. Their real world experience, and ability to apply many of my questions to their experiences and clients was an invaluable source of information.
I have decided to pursue an advanced degree because I realized my current research interests involve skills and experiences that can only be obtained through an advanced degree and research. My main objective is to become an efficient and impactful scientist to my field and impacted communities. I have discovered through recent research experiences that I have the determination and mindset to fully succeed in completing an advanced degree. These experiences have also taught me skills to use while in graduate school like the steps to create and execute research projects and how to effectively communicate my research to a board community. Furthermore, I still have the passion to learn and explore new boundaries of my potential as a scientist
This is a position paper on the topic of whether or not the Air Force should only recruit officers with degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Air Force should not only recruit officers with STEM degrees as this could drastically reduce the amount of officers the Air Force could potentially recruit or retain. While the Air Force does wish to recruit more officers with STEM degrees, it also wishes to attain diversity and recruiting STEM only officers does not achieve that goal. Having only officers with STEM degrees could potentially lead to an unhealthy environment in the Air Force.
I think that my behavior is usually influenced by specific values. I feel that I often times have other people in mind when I am behaving a certain way of choosing to do a specific thing. For instance I spend most of my free time doing homework because of my commitment to school and because of how much I value education and because I realize how much society values education. One of the main reasons I am choosing to go to grad school is because I want to be able to support my family and my children when I graduate and I know I will have a better chance of doing that with a masters or a doctorate degree. Therefore I am behaving out of love and obligation to my future family. This could be considered an example of social change, which is a “fundamental
The DESG Graduate Scheme is outstanding, mentored, and accredited by major professional institutes, enhancing opportunities for professional qualification(s). There are opportunities to work on big projects and using cutting edge technology. I would have enhanced my chances of joining one of the following career streams: Aerospace engineering, project management; ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target, Acquisition and Reconnaissance); Cost Analysis and Assurance (CAAS), (Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture), Weapons, and Nuclear (Weapons or Propulsion). I would like to believe I can do well in this role because I am always willing to learn and keep up to date with the current trends.
Business administration is an extremely versatile degree to major in. The possibilities are nearly endless when it comes to possible career paths after graduation. Every business needs some form of management to operate successfully and efficiently. That is where a business administration graduate becomes useful. A person with a business administration degree typically works in the upper levels of management in order to make sure the business is running at full capacity. Positions filled by business administration graduates include, but are not limited to: chief information officers (CIOs), chief operating officers (COOs), chief sustainability officers (CSOs), and chief financial officers (CFOs). All of these possible jobs have one thing in common: chief. The chief is the person at the top who sees the big picture and delegates tasks that make that big picture come into focus. Among all of the possible careers accessible with a business administration degree, chief financial officer (from here on, known as CFO) appears to be a solid, long lasting, and satisfying choice.
