After watching the finale movie Antwone Fisher I was intrigued by the comparisons to Good Will Hunting I then looked back at my notes from Finding Foster and realized that the three movies are similar in a way that I didn't see before. All three movies connect in a sort of triangle, they don't all share the same element but each one has at least one thing that can be related to the other two movies. The main movie I will be comparing between the three is Good Will Hunting since it is my favorite and I feel as if it relates to the two movies the best. Finding Foster similar to Goodwill Hunting because it focuses on the genius realizing their full potential with the help of a mentor. Both stories look at individuals whose abilities are being held back by their …show more content…
They both are aware that they possess this ability and use it in different ways throughout the films. Will is more outspoken with his gift and his friends are aware of it, he uses it to his advantage to succeed in different situations as well as flourish when opportunities are presented to him. Jamal, on the other hand, is less vocal with his gift, his friend is unaware of its existence and this is because Jamal knows he will be an outcast if they find out. He uses it for personal pleasure and likes to read books and write stories alone, he does however like Will use it to improve his situation and benefit when opportunities are presented to him. The mentors (Sean and Foster) that help them protagonists do essentially the same thing, they help focus the main characters gift into something that will benefit not just them but rather other humans in a positive way. For Will, he is giving a job that he will have the opportunity to help people with his vast knowledge and for Jamal, his writing skill is brought into the spotlight and this gives him opportunities when things seem at their
Will Hunting also uses the defense mechanism of being extremely smart and by reading people and exploiting their weaknesses to shift their focus away from him. This would be a characteristic of the Post-traumatic Stress Disorder avoidance state, where he is dealing with it throughout the movie, which causes him to stay withdrawn from people and society (NCBI). Will uses manipulation to change the subjects and focus’ of others from himself. He is also sarcastic when he talks. Such examples include the several psychologists who he visited before he found Sean. He would read their books before he met with them to decipher the way they worked. Then, when he worked with the psychologists, he would exploit their weakness and what they were uncomfortable with and push it right into their faces. He would also use sarcasm to make a point that he thought all of these psychologist meetings were useless to him and pointless.
The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.
The similarities between the stories may not appear very apparent at first over closer analyzation the appear more apparent .Both stories are focused around a brother and a sister whom
Many individuals argue that Good Will Hunting is one of the most sociologically diverse movies out there. The amount of references that can be drawn back to concepts studied in sociology is incredible. Wills tendency to get himself into trouble attributes to him ending up living on the south side of Boston as a janitor at MIT. His life suddenly takes a positive turn when will reveals his gift for others to see. A math professor posts a mathematical equation on a board outside of his room that had previously been unsolvable by a student in his class. That following day while will was cleaning the hallway
For this assignment I have chosen to focus on the film Good Will Hunting primarily because I have seen the movie prior to this course and I feel it is one of the best films I have gotten a chance to see. Will Hunting's profound genius was as much a burden as it was a gift. Initially seeing the film I enjoyed it but viewing the film in the scope of all that I have learned in this course made the viewing experience much more meaningful, as I now had a deeper understanding of Will's internal conficts, and how they directly effected his relationships, beliefs, and actions. The film is an excellent example of the issues involving interpersonal communication and how they play a part in either making or breaking our

I have watched a considerable number of movies this semester so it was hard to choose which one to analyze. It came down to “Remember the Titans” or “Good Will Hunting”. However, the movie that I will be analyzing is “Good Will Hunting”. The reason I chose this movie is that it can be analyzed in many different ways. I will be analyzing different scenes of the movie and analyze them from different angles. I will be analyzing about the symbolism that is happening in the movie.
