Introduction
The genre samples for the proposal of a new grocery store near the MNSU campus will be explained below. An email, brochure, questionnaire and a flowchart are among the genre examples explained. Each will give a brief explanation behind choosing that specific genre example.
Email
The first Genre Sample I chose, was to write an email to Eric Anderson, the mayor of the Mankato City Council. I decided to write to Eric Anderson because I assumed he would be the best person to contact about starting a proposal for a new grocery store near the Minnesota State University Mankato campus. Eric Anderson could then give me some pointers on continuing this proposal and what I should do next in being able to get this approved for construction. Within the email to Eric Anderson, I stated the main purpose in writing this email to him. I proceeded to state the reasoning why there is a need for a grocery store near the MNSU campus. Finally, I asked him for any feedback on the proposal and that I looked forward to hearing back to him. At the end of the email I tried to be as professional as possible and listed my name and then some contact information of mine as well.
Brochure
The brochure I created will be available to the entire Mankato Community along with all the students at Minnesota State University Mankato. This brochure will be available at many locations throughout Mankato, with a major emphasis of them being around the MNSU campus. Some specific spots people will be able to find these brochures are on the MNSU campus in the CSU and surrounding business of the MNSU campus, like Kwik Trip as an example.
I created this brochure to show the reason why we should have a grocery store near the MNSU campus. I wanted the brochure to be concise, but also wanted it to provide enough information to the readers. I added some fun colors to the brochure to make it a little more visually appealing. I also added some pictures throughout the brochure to give the reader some visual aids of the proposed grocery store plan.
Questionnaire
The questionnaire will be given out to any and every student, first year freshman to a graduate student, who is walking through the CSU at Minnesota State University Mankato. The
The major challenge was to get the survey done by students who are enrolled in different courses so that we can get general opinion of almost all students. It was hard to get the survey done from all programs students, but still we managed to get opinion of students from other courses.
The instrumentation that is to be used is called the Your First College Year (YFCY) survey. This instrument is geared toward freshman college students, and it is a survey that concentrates on student experiences while in college with different areas in their college life. The questionnaire also recaps items from the freshman survey so that any changes can be studied. This particular survey is known to be beneficial for retention studies. This instrument contains 41 questions, and the survey will be administered on the computer instead of using the paper form. The rating scales that are used consists of, but not limited to, questions with ‘yes/no’ answers, ratings such with choices from ‘strongly disagree’ to ‘strongly agree’, and questions that will have rating choices that range from ‘can’t rate/no experience’ to very satisfied’. It will
These questions will be in sections of gender, race, symptoms of anxiety, and their daily life. With these different sections I will be measuring if students experience more symptoms of anxiety when being a resident assistant or when not, as well as breaking it down by backgrounds of gender and race. Breaking it down will help me understand if certain backgrounds may impact the levels of anxiety that they might experience as a college student RA or not. The dependent variable will be the position of being a Resident Assistant and the independent variable will be the levels or symptoms of anxiety. The survey will be conducted by paper and the required materials will be provided so that the participant will be successful in taking the questionnaire. The reliability and validity will be measured after we gather all the
The book emphasizes challenges that can help students transition into college such as teaching, learning and college life in general. Millis also added that Light had the students conduct an interview to provide data which followed a structured
Using Northcentral University (NCU) Dissertation Center, a student could access several resources to guide them through the rigorous process of developing a research topic, develop a research question, gathering information to examine the research question(s) and develop a hypothesis all the way to guidelines for submitting a dissertation for review. For this paper the NCU Concept Paper Template will be examined for its instructions on how to detail research methods for quantitative and qualitative studies.
Genre knowledge was heavily seen throughout every chapter we have read thus far into class. From setting up this memo and reading about the proper format, formatting the one pager to appeal to the audience, and the future proposal design for the Foundation. This formatting is correlated with the chapter three reading that discusses design principles. This is important because after the
The main focus of the Problem Solution essay is to analyze different topics related to the subject of “image” in Asian American studies. This essays aims to go more in depth about the problems that surround the subject of “image” and then creating a solution to these issues. In order to get to a solution one must first come up with a method that includes thinking of a topic that is closely related to the subject of image, present said topic to the professor, compose an outline for a rough draft and eventually a final draft. This process will ultimately allow the student to further evaluate and resolve other issue in Asian American studies. While the reader of the essay better understands the problems that writing can have, the writer also presents and realizes how “genre” can cause different recurrences within social interactions.
The sample will consist of current University of Texas at Dallas students from different classification levels. An estimation of 80-100 surveys will be taken. Northcentral University is a distance learning online institution for individuals seeking higher education and opportunities for professional development. The college’s environment handles important business mainly through the internet. Occasionally, communication efforts are executed through phone calls. The institution conducts the majority of its affairs online to accommodate non-traditional students. Student participation is mandatory when providing critical feedback about institutional practices. Johnson (2016) notes, “A survey is a statistical process by which data are collected from a representative sample of some population of interest in order to determine the attitudes, opinions, or other facts about that population” (p. 1). In an effort to gain insight on NCU’s institutional practices, a survey is most appropriate for assessment. This work will serve as a descriptive narrative about measurement survey tools appropriate for research such as surveys.
Document the date of the annual student interview and the student identified preferences and interests regarding postsecondary education, training, employment, independent living, and community participation. The interview must be updated annually.
Although the class has not had input into the methodology used to collect the data for this report it is still important for us to know why these methods were used. Questionnaires can be useful in order to get opinions and views from a large groups of people (McLeod 2014), such like conditions for the research for this reports. This can be useful as this can be an easier way of targeting a larger audience other than in interview purposes. This will also be more time consuming as everyone is answering the same questions.
34 college students (ages 18-27) were recruited from the general student population of the University of North Texas
