As Hercules stumbled upon the den of the Nemean lion, he could see it sleeping soundly. Hercules pulled out his arrow from the pouch behind his back, he aimed it towards the lion. He let go of the arrow and as it flew between his fingers it repelled off the sleeping lion. The lion awoke and roared so much that the trees flew back. As the lion was roaring every hair on his mane stood up on end. Hercules pulled out another one of his arrow and aimed it toward the lions right eye. The lion jumped up as he let go of the arrow, avoiding the it. He was surprised that his golden arrow couldn’t pierce the lion's hide. The angry lion flung towards hercules, jumping on him and took a bite and swallowed Hercules’s helmet. Hercules used his muscles and pushes the mighty beast off of him and shoves the lion into a tree. …show more content…
Hercules pulled out his stone sword and jumped into the beast but could not pierce him, his hide was much to thick. The lion scratched hercules down the back and locked his jaw onto Hercules's arm. Hercules’s bones in his arm were way to tough and he socked the Nemean in the face. The beast backed off of Hercules. Hercules shouted “Let's settle this like men!” as he took of his armor ready to wrestle the Lion with his own bear hands. They ran at each other and Hercules tackled the lion and put his hands on his neck trying to locate the adam's apple, when he found it he pressed down on it and started to strangle it. The lion had fear in its eyes for the first time as he was witnessing his own life being sucked out of him. One minute later, the lion just fell to the ground and Hercules stood up, his veins were popping out of his arms. Tired and hungry, Hercules returned home the next day with the lions head in his
Poseidon is hit and goes down, so he thought. Out of nowhere the floor under Zeus crumbles into a blackhole of water under him. Poseidon from above him starts to smirk. Hades is missing the attention, he throws his mighty trident at his brother. Poseidon moves as swiftly and quickly as the wind but the trident was faster, and cuts his cheek. Poseidon, fures and hurt, he charges at Hades with his mighty trident.
Allusion: The legend of Hercules and Antaeus is a greek mythological story that defines how one’s strength and power is derived from a main source that can easily be tampered with. In the legend, Antaeus challenges Hercules to a wrestling match in which Hercules first witnesses failure as he continually throws Antaeus onto the ground. However, when Hercules remembers that Antaeus’ mother is the goddess of earth, he holds Antaeus up and away from the earth until all of his power is removed, and he dies.
Hercules is thought to be one of the world’s greatest hero. There are children’s movies about him, but they all have a happy ending. Hercules, originally born “Heracles” lived a short cruel, yet heroic life. “The 12 Herculean tasks he performed over a period of 12 years have been immortalized in everything from classical poetry to Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion.” (French 1). Hercules, in Greek mythology, was a hero known for his strength and courage and for his legendary adventures. Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek hero Heracles. He was the son of the god Zeus and a human mother Alcmene, wife of the Theban general Amphitryon. Hera, Zeus' jealous wife, was determined to kill Hercules, and after Hercules was born, she
“Hercules demonstrated his strength right from birth. He choked the serpents that had been sent to him by the jealous Hera.” (classicsunveiled.com)
There has been many discussions on the differences between Hercules and Heraclês. Disney likes to change stories to make them more child friendly. This creates differences between the original stories and the Disney take on the tales. In the case of the movie of Hercules and the story of Heraclês the main differences, that I will be focusing on is family value, true love, and comic relief.
Authors, poets, and film directors have all used ancient stories to create new pieces of literature and film works for modern times. The animated Disney film Hercules (1997) and the myth of Hercules share the background of audience-driven narratives; however, Disney's aspiration to fill the theaters and earn money results in an unblemished narrative, while the original myth portrays an imperfect model to a flawed humanity.
soon Hercules came and destroyed the eagle and rescued him. this resource is very useful for the Greek mythology project
Later in the movie we are introduced with Philoctetetes (a goat) the trainer who trains Hercules in gaining valuable exercises and activities that he may later has to challenge. Hercules then encounter with 12 tasks and he overcome them all with his bare hands Phil Comes to realize that Meg Hercules love is betraying him, Hercules ignores him treating him unfair and leaves him. Unfortunately, Hercules found out that it was true ad felt awful forgave Phil he needed him at the end Hercules being a kind individual listened to all the good advice that Philoctetes had to offer.
Hercules found the boar on Mount Erymanthus and cornered it into a snow bank, immobilizing it. He tossed the boar over his shoulder and carried it back to Eurystheus, who cowered as usual in his storage jar.
Right after Zeus left the Evil Cyclops arrived. His eye was red and filled with rage just like a burning fire. He was as high as a mountain and had dark skin and his eye was filled with rage. Hercules looked at him, and started running towards him, he punched the Cyclops but it had no effect on him. The Cyclops who had barely noticed Hercules had all of his attention on Hercules now.
Realizing that this task would take a more direct approach, Heracles attacked the Nemean Lion with his sword. Unfortunately it was no more effective, and bent against the impenetrable skin. He did, however, manage to drive the lion back to its den. Knowing that there were two exits, Heracles blocked one with boulders using his enormous strength. He then cornered the lion and the two began a struggle that could lead only to death for one of them.
These labors were designated to him through King Eurystheus because of the unspeakable acts he committed. Hercules sought out many prophets, only in the end to return to King Eurystheus to complete his 12 suicidal labors. One of the last 6 labors completed was to capture the Cretan Bull. Minos promised Poseidon that he would sacrifice whatever the god sent to him. Poseidon sent a great bull, but Minos thought it was too beautiful to kill. So he killed another bull, and Poseidon grew angry so he made it rampage through the city of Crete. Hercules wrestled the bull to the ground. He carried the bull back to Eurystheus, but it could not be tamed so Eurystheus set it free. The 8th labor Hercules had to complete was stealing the Mares of Diomedes. Diomedes’ Mares are 4 men eating horses with terrible tempers. Diomedes kept the horses chained to a golden post to keep them from escaping. Hercules snuck behind the golden post taming the horses, and right before he could release them Diomedes soldiers began attacking Hercules. From hearing all the commotion Diomedes awakens. He is informed that Hercules is trying to steal the mares from a random foot soldier. Diomedes is irate and attacks Hercules.
Every person, place, thing, or idea can be improved upon. The Disney movie Hercules has changes that some might call improvements from the Greek myth “Heraclês”. These differentiations are not just there to improve the entertainment factor, but they also relate to real world problems and improvements. Differences between the Disney movie Hercules and the classic Greek myth “Heraclês” highlight the cultures’ contrasting values in the areas of family values, women’s rights, and childrens values.
Another striking difference between the movie about Hercules and the myth is when Hercules is not made to go through the 12 trials like he does in the myth. Instead, his only task from the 12 trials was the killing of the Nemean lion. These differences that come about when comparing the movie to the myth are just a few of the many that can be seen when comparing the
