Violence is a big issue today. Not only is it an issue, but it is global. Many people end up getting hurt because some people are violent. They are also dying because of violence. It is not that they are violent it is just that sometimes they get mad and do stupid things. For example, gangs, fights, shootings, and terrorism. Everyone is affected by this around the world. Everyone is scared about what happens around the world. The community should be helping each other out instead of hurting ourselves. People need to act now. People need to get together to address the problem. Get neighborhood watch parties to take care of the issues around their community. Create programs to help gang members stop the violence among them. People might have

It is not even safe anymore to go out because people are afraid a lunatic will come out and shoot and kill everyone just because they want to. People should feel safe in the United States. It is the greatest country in the world. Not only in the United States, but everywhere around the globe. Not only should the communities get involved, but the government should help out too. Later on they will see that when everyone helps each other out, it can turn out to a beautiful thing. A lot of people are stubborn and will object to help out, but when something bad happens to them or their family they will want to help. It is for all of us, human life. We are just killing and hurting ourselves. We should be helping each other out instead of hurting and killing ourselves. This violence needs to be put to an end. It is not healthy. Violence is a big issue. Not only is it a big problem, but a global one. It is important because people are dying or getting hurt and we all can help solve this issue if we work together. The positive outcome if my proposed solution works is that people will stop being violent and killing theirselves and will help each other out. The community and people around it will feel
Nowadays gangs are big issues in America. People who are in gang feel like they belong some where and people care about them. There are various reasons people join gangs, and almost all age group between ages 12-40 are involved in gangs. One of the big reasons people join gangs is because of their needs, protection, and also they want attention from people around them. Gang’s should be taken seriously because today’s gangs are more violent and brutal then they were in 60’s. Gangs do more violent act every day and if police don’t do anything about gangs then it will be hard to control the gangs in the future.
In order prevent high crime rates in our urban neighborhood we must stop those who corrupt the minds of the youth. According to Gang Prevention: An Overview of Research and Programs by James C. Howell “the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (a nationally representative sample of 9,000 adolescents), 8 percent of the youth surveyed had belonged to a gang at some point between the ages of 12 and 17 (Snyder and Sickmund, 2006)” and “6,000 eighth graders conducted in 11 cities with known gang problems found that 9 percent were currently gang members and 17 percent said they had belonged to a gang at some point in their lives (Esbensen and Deschenes, 1998; Esbensen et al., 2010).” In other words, children from the ages 12 and 17, middle schoolers,
Gangs are one of the leading factor for violence problems. Many people have understand gang violence or have been
Gangs currently hold the power in this community while residents are powerless. They have placed fear on the residents who feel like prisoners in their own community. The goal of Social Action is to shift power back to the community. Residents must act and resist the threats of gangs, and the only way to achieve change in their community is to mobilize against gangs. The community must confront gang and drug activity with the resources provided by the City Manager and Police Chief.
It’s around midnight on Saturday. I’m with my friend Jalen at a house party in the west side of Denver. Everyone’s having a good time, when all of a sudden gunshots ring out. Instantaneously, both of us run in the opposite direction of the gunshots we heard; it’s obvious we’re not exactly rookies to this kind of situation. The city and county of Denver has always had problems when it comes to gang violence, but only recently has this violence escalated to the immense issue it is today. I only just recently moved to Denver, and I can already tell that gangs are a major problem here-- that should raise a red flag the size of Vatican City. As an educated African American who has grown up in less-than nurturing environments, I have had much contact with gang members and witnessed gang activity. I extremely urge the policy makers, law enforcement, and gang members--gang violence is an increasingly deadly issue in Denver that affects the lives of many different groups of people, and it needs to change.
have you ever been in a war that at the end your hurt your own kind but make friend with others. Well in this essay you will read how two girls hated each other, but later they will become close. They will both lose someone that’s close to them, but one of them loses more than others.
the violence we need to get involved in stopping these gangs and have more law enforcement
In the article “gang and violence in California’s Youth Correction Facilities: A research foundation for developing effective Gang policies” is the article where I got my research question from. It states how many youths in gangs that are incarcerated have recognized that they need treatment for their drug abuse, but are less likely to participate in drug programs. They are less likely because they have shown more of a distrust in staff as well as the staff having lower levels of trust from the staff, they have more negative outlooks when it comes to treatment services. All of these caused a problem because the rapport needed for these services to be effective are hindered because of the attitudes of the gang members from both genders. In an effort to help the gang members the DJJ created a program known as “The Blueprints for Gang Prevention Initiative” This program was created to be different approach in dealing with gang issues (Maxson et la 2012, 7).
I believe there are numerous factors that contribute to the gang violence that affects so many communities around the world. The fact that humans are not able to self regulate much of their behavior plays a major part. Control by others takes place before control by self. This means that everybody is taking their initial cues to change or modify their behavior, from an outside source. I believe that low self esteem is a factor in the decision to join a gang. I also believe that lower intelligence can make a person more likely to join a gang. It is easier for somebody with a lower intelligence to succumb to the positive reinforcements that are provided by gang membership. These include; money, praise, and friendship. Many gang members do not
I remember a lot happening during middle and high school. Countless student deaths due to suicide, OD/drug use, drunk driving, homicide, illness, accidents... Plenty of bomb threats throughout as well as students bringing firearms on campus. These twin sisters that lived in my neighborhood, went to the same middle school, and rode the same bus as me were killed in a drive-by. There was plenty of gang-related violence. I also remember one, if not two female teachers at that school having had numerous sexual encounters with male students. The PE teacher had a porn collection on his on his office PC and would wank in there. Multiple teachers had been physically and verbally abusing the special needs students over a period of time until it was
By definition, a criminal is someone who does not fit into the acceptable range of normal behavior. Criminals behave differently than normal people. Since behavior is based to some extent on how we think, it is safe to say that people likely to commit capital crimes also think differently from normal people. Offenders often think they are entitled to a kind of absolute freedom in the way they conduct their lives. They may picture themselves as living in isolation from the world, in a kind of world of their own. In their subjective world, they are in absolute control and have the absolute right to do as they please. From this point of view, any restriction of their freedom is resented as an unjust intrusion. In addition to the basic cognitive
Gang violence is one of the most pressing issues in our communities nowaday. When anyone of us hear the phrase “ gang violence”, we just assume that it is a bad thing, it is the reason of social disorder. However, do we really understand about gang violence? In other words, do we truly know how big is its severity? By reading “ Brothers in Arms”, one of the Bluford series books of the authors Paul Langan and Ben Alirez that talks about gang violence, we can somehow dig more deeper about gang violence issues. “Brothers in Arms” shows how gang violence can affect dramatically to individual’s behavior, and as the results gang violence might destroy the person that involves with it. The authors Paul Langan and Ben Alirez use characterization and
“Murders of children by other children have tripled in three years, as more of the nation's youth get drawn into a deadly world of guns and knives” (Wynne-Jones and Leapman, 2008).
Tara described her primary home with her mother and two brothers prior to being forced out at the age of 11 as living in the “ projects” with gang violence present in the neighborhoods. After moving to her aunts until the age of 13, Tara has had an unstable living environment living in three different foster homes of which she ran away from and now the residential facility that she currently resides at is closing and she will be moved to larger residential facility. There is a concern about Tara being overwhelmed in this new facility due to its reputation of dealing with youth that have severe behavioral problems such as drug use and violence.
Violence has been an issue for a long time and is all around us, that’s why police or law enforcements are important for our community to keep all individuals safe. People have said for several years that violence is never the answer, but yet we continue to have many issues that surround it. Our own history has shown many acts of violence throughout its time and has proven to people that wars are the only answer, but I strongly disagree.
