What are the ethical factors in this situation? Explain
When one speaks of ethics, we are examining what is right and wrong in the decisions we make, in our action. There is basically no difference when we look at professionals such as Lawyers, Doctors, Accountants, Auditors, there are rules, principles and guidelines which govern these people. Wild (2008), reported that the goal of accounting is to provide useful information for decisions. For information to be useful, it must be trusted. He stated that accounting users are less likely to trust an auditor’s report if the auditor’s pay depends on the success of the client being audited. To avoid such concerns, ethics rules are often set. For example, auditors are banned from direct investment in their client and cannot accept pay that depends on figures in the client’s reports. Craig Thorne will have to identify the ethical concerns, analyze the options and make the ethical decision that supports good business decision. He must be cognizant of the fact that the choices he makes can affect the price a buyer pays and wages paid to workers, misleading information can lead to a wrongful closing of a division that harms workers, customers and suppliers. Would you recommend that Thorne accept this audit fee arrangement? Why or Why not? I

Effective financial planning for clients often has tax-related consequences, which in turn requires a good understanding of not only the tax laws themselves, but also the client's tax rates. Unfortunately, though, significant confusion abounds regarding what tax rates should be used when analyzing various problems. Is it the client's tax bracket? Or a marginal tax rate? Or an effective tax rate? When should each be used? The key is that in the end, marginal tax rates should be used to compare strategies, and effective tax rates should be used to compare people.
