Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to be an FBI agent. I do not really know why, but I have always been interested in the field of criminal justice. I watch many tv shows in the genre of crime and mystery, and it was always so intriguing to try and figure out who committed the crime. I can recall that when I was a kid, I was always so fascinated when I saw cop cars on the side of the road because I wanted to know what was taking place. I want to go to college for four years to major in criminal justice and work my way up to becoming an FBI agent. I think it will be hard to do the work it takes to become an FBI agent because you need to have at least a Bachelor level degree in a relevant field and complete an FBI training program. The steps to become a DEA agent is a long journey. The Drug Enforcement Administration says that you must get a Bachelor's degree with a 2.95 GPA, masters, (in law enforcement) or J.D. or LL.B, or any special expertise in drug enforcement, military training or technical, engineering, or foreign language for more than 3 years. Then they have to demonstrate through their experiences in training: written and oral communication, decision making, judgement, interpersonal skills, integrity, honesty, flexibility, problem solving, self-management, teamwork, planning and calculating, technology application and law enforcement. Before you hit the training in Quantico Virginia, you have to take a qualifications review, written assessment and panel interview, drug tests, medical examination, physical task assessment, (PTA), polygraph exam, psychological examination, full field background investigation, and a firing hiring assessment. Then you go to training for 16 months in Quantico. The training is rigorous and very tough on your mental and physical state, but once you graduate, you will be top tier, and you will finally be ready to become a DEA agent. I know how it feels to not have justice given or not get the help you deserve. I hope that doing this training will give me a jumpstart on pursuing my career and that it’ll help my resume in the future. I also hope that when I do this training I learn the true meaning of being an FBI Agent and I learn what it takes to be an FBI Agent. I am really interested in learning what an FBI’s job is and how they have to do their job and what duties they have to perform to be able to make this world a safer place. I hope that I can learn about the different scholarships available to kids like me that wish to further their education in the area of Law Enforcement. Those who perform these tasks are known as detectives. Detectives are also known as criminal investigators. I have always liked solving mysteries and, that is exactly what detectives or criminal investigators do. I was inspired to pursue this career by the television series “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”. I watch this series a lot and, the show gave me a televised perception of what the career might be like. There are many risks when considering becoming a detective. However, the benefits and end results outweigh the risks and disadvantages of becoming a detective.
My interest in forensic psychology goes back into my early elementary years. As a child, my main dream was to become a profiler or a crime scene detective. I loved reading crime books and watching shows about it. I wanted to be like the people I read in those books and the people I saw on television. However, when I got to college, my mindset changed, but not for long. During my freshman year, I was a biology major wanting to be a Veterinarian.
