Q1: Why and how is the job market for administrative professionals growing or declining? What effect do you think the economy and technology have had on the field?
A: The job market for administrative professionals is growing because they typically work in fields such as medical care and social services. Because of the new mandatory health care laws people have a better access to health care and this just one example of areas that is leading to a growth in this field of work. I think that technology can be beneficial in this type of job field. I think that because areas of the economy are growing such as in health care that it can only help and foster growth in this field. Typing and keyboarding skills, along with spelling, punctuation and grammar are important technical skills to have for an administrative professional. Knowledge and being able to run and use different type of computer programs such as Microsoft, excel, spreadsheets, presentations software, and database management systems. Computers are just machines, so things go wrong so knowledge of the equipment used also is an important technical skill so that way you can troubleshoot problems if needed.
Q4: Why are interpersonal and communication skills especially important for someone in an administrative assistant role?
A: Interpersonal skills are important as an administrative assistant’s role because being able to successful communicate with employees, coworkers, and clients makes the workplace run more effectively. It helps employees relate to their coworkers and clients which makes the work environment less stressful and ultimately more satisfying.

5. The current labor market assessment looks good in the beginning stages of production. The information technology field has steadily been growing over the past decade. This along with the familiarity of the field has grown over the years as well. As being one of the leaders in this industry, our reputation will also serve as a great benefit of recruiting new employees for our expansion.
Besides having access to a computer, copier, fax machine, telephone, office, desk; a healthcare administrator would need to have a strong blend of management, leadership and technological skills; A healthcare administrator must be able to manage staffing issues, budgets, operations and much more. Being a multi-tasker is a skill that takes time to develop, but become worthwhile to have. Since a healthcare administrator has to work closely with a variety of strong personalities; having peacemaking skills, the ability to listen, and make decisions that are in the best interests of the team are other very important tools to have. Being detail-oriented, having strong analytical skills, and being able to review a situation quickly in order to make a good decision on the spot are also important tools to have.
Let’s help give back to nonprofit organizations!! Nonprofit, also called not-for-profit corporations, do not supply their own money. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law. They must file a statement of corporate purpose with the Secretary of State, pay a fee, create articles of incorporation, conduct regular meetings, and fulfill other obligations to achieve and maintain corporate status. Different things go into running a nonprofit organization. The leader of the organization needs to make sure that all requirements needed to run a nonprofit organization are met, also dealing with outside contributors. Contributors play a big part in a nonprofit organization. There are multiple options involving funding a nonprofit organization. They can get funding for multiple reasons and in multiple ways; for example, sponsorship, corporate giving, grant funding, donations, and fundraising are ways to fund a nonprofit organization.
Those at the helm must be people of character, people of integrity, people who present the correct numbers no matter how easy it is to misrepresent them for profitable gain. These people must also be able to distribute responsibilities as or through an administrator. The reason for this corresponds with the major question and promotes success when there is a person to “manage the internal and administrative tasks so those dealing externally would have the freedom to continue their work without dealing with what should be delegated to others” (Schadt, 2018). This truly encapsulates the motive behind this study and its relevance to those in FBNPOs. If this type of structure does not exist, the nonprofit will not reach its
I developed effective communication and interpersonal skills. Open, honest and diplomatic communication helps me to establish relationships with students, parents and co-workers. As an advocate for students, with a special interest in students with disabilities, I have collaborated with families, as well as, school and district special education personnel to provide quality instruction to students with special needs.
Can you talk a little bit about our experience and expertise in working with nonprofits?
There are several different types of nonprofit organizations, some are big and some are very small. I have interviewed an employee of a large nonprofit in the past. However, for this interview I chose a small nonprofit to gain a different perspective and to apply the organizational communication concepts we have learned in class. A career choice that I am considering, is in the field of nonprofit organizations. For this reason, I chose to interview June Early the Executive Director of Safe Alternatives For Everyone (S.A.F.E.), in Temecula, California.
The organization that I chose to discuss in this assignment is a place that I am currently employed at. This is a not-for profit organization called The United Way of the River Cities, Inc. This organization is designed to meet the needs of the community through monetary disbursements. This organization runs fundraising campaigns January through June. The Director of Resource Development recruits volunteers and uses them as ambassadors in the community.
Some of my expectations for taking this course are to gain more knowledge in regards to communication within an organization and individuals. Even though I have been in an Administrative Assistant role the majority of my career there are communication challenges within the department as well as between departments. This stems primarily from everyone’s unique personalities or agendas which at times do not align with the task at hand. In addition, there are also other influences which influence the way staff interact with one another. This can include budget restrains of a project or missing the required deadline. The way in which an individual handles the stress and pressure of these two aspects also affects how they relate with one another.
The key to success lies in the ability to collaborate with others, which requires interpersonal skills. Throughout my profession, I have maintained a positive rapport with colleagues, parents, students, and administration. I attribute these productive partnerships partly to my attitudes about and toward others. By effectively communicating, listening, and questioning, coupled with a friendly demeanor, others find me approachable and a person with whom they easily work. These traits will contribute to my achievement as a literacy coach if selected for this position.
Nonprofit organizations have several functions, and not each one is alike. Essential to all non-profit organizations are four functions: planning, budgeting, funding and management.
Once you have planned your activities, lock in deadlines and other important dates on your calendar. When associates are just starting to work with administrative assistants, they sometimes overlook them as a valuable source of support and information. Ask yours to help keep you organized and efficient. Your assistant may also be well positioned to share suggestions and best practices that specifically apply to you.
Financial Management in Nonprofit Organizations - Discuss financial management in nonprofit organizations and write an essay that compares and contrasts the application of financial management techniques in nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Sources of funds, use of debt, performance evaluation (efficiency in use of contributions and meeting the organization’s objectives), governance mechanisms in non-profits, etc. would be good topics/issues for discussion in the essay.
