In order to conduct the unbiased research, researchers have to be cautious about conducting of research in an unbiased and neutral way. Therefore, researchers follow different methods and techniques to conduct research in order to bring the best and presentable results. The first step and rule of conducting research is that those who feel any sort of difficulty, they need to ask in order to sort out the difficulties they face in the process of conducting research. For example, if the researchers are conducting research on the usefulness of the difficulties, they also see the positive and negative aspects of the things.
Identify the major assumptions and bias of the drug industry that underlie drug research. There is much bias in the drug industry’s influence over the research. Further, there is much influence of drugs on research but still some are trying to overcome the bias. Drug companies run the drugs on trial basis which becomes more important in the market and influence the market negatively. Further, those drugs which are sponsored by some advertisements, one comes to know that advertisements of the drugs influence the people and does not allow them to carry out the real research on drugs.

First step of the scientific research process is to develop a research question. It means, researchers need to decide the topic they are interested to study. They also need to get fund for their research project on first steps to make their research success. Second step is, researchers need to design their research based on what they are going study. Their third step is to collect the data by doing interviews, surveys and web searches. Fourth step is to analyze and organize the data to discover patterns. Fifth step is to make conclusions of research. After developing strong conclusions, they can imply it on broader populations.
Another issue is too much power is given to scientists in decision-making of candidate drugs. Also there were inadequacies and lack of communication between marketing and research. Merck’s marketing and research needed to realize that the making of the drug is not only the most important part in increasing sales, but it also included a strong advertising campaign that will satisfy the needs of the customers.
According to Elkins, “It (Prescription drugs) kills more people than car accidents every year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) classified it as an epidemic and the World Health Organization (WHO) reported it threatened the achievements of modern medicine.” The thesis question in mind that will be researched is the effects of Prescription (Pharmaceutical) Drugs have on people. One focus happens to be the core reason as to how, and exactly why, prescription medication is able to be abused, and thus, addictive. Next, a look into some specific examples as to the negative affect Pharmaceutical Drugs has on a person’s life, as well as possibly their family’s lives, for the rest of their lives’. A final avenue that will be explored will include how, prescription drugs are over prescribed causing immunity to a drug and causing people to become addicted. From my point of view I believe that prescription drugs are more harmful than they are helpful. The more those drugs are over prescribed is the more likely people are to get addicted, become immune, and cause uproar in families.
Every book is an escape into a new world, filled with individuals with problems much like ours, or maybe not. As the protagonist conquers challenges and learns important lessons, I too am changing. By taking note of their mistakes, their fears, their triumphs and comparing it to myself, I should become a better person, right? However, books are only read (and sold) when they are interesting, and who wants to read about the life of an average person?
It is expected that science should give objective and reasonable explanations for any phenomena. However, every treatise is the result of thorough work of a scholar and obviously contains someone’s personal opinion, in other words, bias. Bias in general is described as the influence of one’s beliefs and attitudes on his actions and decisions (Greenwald & Krieger, 2006; Staats, 2016). The question is for what purpose is it done and how does it influence people’s perceptions?
In an explanatory research design, the most likely kind of bias is the citation type. In citation bias, researchers may be reluctant to publish some discouraging findings, especially if they believe that they may tarnish their reputations or personal abilities and affect the effectiveness of their products. For that reason, citation bias makes researchers submit positive results only for publication, while suppressing negative findings. In most cases, the motive of citation bias is to gain popularity or self-appraisal (Riegelman, 2005). Positive results, also known as statistically significant findings, may include results that show that a certain intervention is functioning well.
The world is biased whether some want to believe it or not. My own essay is biased.Whenever someone is one sided we automatically accuse him or her of being quite prejudice. Humans are always inclined to interpret situations in an individual way. People perceive each other in society fairly critically and diminish traits by looking at someone’s flaws. Although bias can be detectable,some types of bias are hard to point out. We consistently categorize the world attempting to lose threats. There is a variety of bias that is used in print media and also in person but why is that?How would we be able to conquer this biases we have in society as it is?
The pharmaceutical industry includes companies that research, develop, market or distribute generic and branded drugs. The industry expanded during the 1980’s and drugs to treat heart disease and AIDS were prominent. Consumer demand for nutritional supplements and alternative medicine increased during the 1990’s with the Internet facilitating direct purchases of drugs. Advertising for direct consumption of pharmaceutical drugs became more prominent; pharmaceutical companies were criticized for over medicating personality or social problems.
Drug companies spend enormous amounts of money on advertising their products. From TV commercials to print ads to bulk mail advertisements, they cover the entire spectrum of marketing techniques. However, change is afoot and most drug companies are reevaluating their advertising strategies and how they spend their money.
