The life of aviation is an admiration for whoever looks up to the clouds, stars, and the sky. Aviation is a dream that many people seek. I have always looked up to my father as a model and a reason to think about the life above the clouds. As I laid eyes on him wearing his flying suit, it opened my eyes to the aviation life, and an inspiration to enter the world of aviation. The transition of me entering this life was a video that ERAU broadcasted. This ad shows the quality of tools and level of education students will get, which type of college life students are going to have, and what kind of feelings students will obtain. However, this video is not doing a great job by using the appeal of logos, ethos, and pathos. Generally speaking, …show more content…
One of the students shared her mini story saying that here father used to take her to air shows (0:19). This student is about to graduate and become a pilot, her dream came true. Another student shared her experience when she flows with her instructor above the clouds looking down on them and saying to herself that’s all what she wanted (0:27). That happiness and that emotion she felt made her realize that she wants to do this as a career, being on top of everything. The last student said that he can’t describe his feeling by words. He just enjoys it and called it “it’s fun” (0:30). Sadly, other students did not share their feelings like the others, because the video did not mention their major. Additionally, even some audience who are not interested in being pilots won't be entertained and motivated by watching the video. Lastly, the video wasn’t equitable to those who are interested in other majors instead of pilots who took their time by sharing their feelings. In conclusion, college of aviation in ERAU made video talks about what is it like to be a student in it. Some instructors were giving some facts about the college and talking about what they can offer to their students. Some students were sharing their experiences and feelings since they have entered the college. However, the video is shows lacking using logos, ethos, and
“In my family if you had the option of an income, you chose that over an education” influenced by the alarming growth of aviation in NY, Naraidu began a career as a supervisor at JFK Airport in ‘87. However, he was a community person who “always liked being active, never indoor in an office,” thus
In my five years of service I often talk with fellow Airmen about the different states of the Airforce. After many discussions I noticed a common theme was captured in a single saying “I love being an Airman, But I hate being in the Airforce”. From Basic Military Training we are taught to be Airman. We learn the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do, this is the moral code that every Airman lives by. These values are hard pressed in new Airman but somehow lost further in the individual’s career. The Airforce falls short of producing a climate that embodies this ethos. I hope this exposes the deep frustration that I and many young Airman are feeling. By being more of a bureaucratic entity
Macro: The first problem changing the culture at British Airways was the merger of the BOAC and BEA. In 1971, the Civil Aviation Act became law and the board was to control policy over British Airways but both BOAC and BEA remained autonomous, each with its own chairman, board, and chief executive. This caused a split within British Airways throughout the 1970s and in the mid-1980. The second problem BA faced was the threat of privatization. In 1984 the government passed legislation that made BA a public limited company. The third was productivity was bad compared to other leading foreign airlines. The fourth was poor service. Poor customer service
Fear holds back a person’s ability to commit to an event, a relationship, and contains one back from his or her dream. As a child, I dreaded boarding an airplane due to the altitude and the pressure closing one’s ears, a terrifying experience. In addition to my fear of airplanes, flights would absolutely bore me. Hence, my impatient reaction of shaking my leg in a fast paced, up-down motion, a nervous tick. Over the years, every time my parents announced a trip that required an airplane flight, the idea would horrify me. Nevertheless, the distinct moments I boarded airplanes, there were always hints of curiosity about the bird-shaped flying machine. How does this strange machinery work? How could an airplane be this frightening? That fear was the foundation of my commitment to aerospace engineering.
To me, this video was really inspiring and encouraging. I agree with what Meg Jay had to say and am currently working on bettering myself and my future. It is hard to make a lot of life choices right out of high school and
The research focused on the ways in which flight schools can provide a specialized training format that satisfies goals for both professional and recreational pilots. These are unique ways in which, flight schools can achieve flight instruction for students by providing a strong training format that meets the individuals needs. Offering practical and theoretical skills to the students, and ensuring professional instructors. Also the use of modern facilities and equipment for teaching students; with a strong emphasis for FAA standards during all phases of instruction. These are some ideas flight schools should adopt in
I see students as the next generations’ heroes in so many fields. In my vision, I have to inspire students and prepare them with confidence, knowledge, experience and skills. Which means I encourage, communicate, guide, teach, and assess students in order to enrich their infrastructures.
make my students feel, and I hope that I never do. That was how the video impacted me and
The usage of Ethos was very evident as James McBride developed his credibility through explaining his mother’s life story from her childhood to adulthood. He explained it with great detail and description that it would make the audience know that what he is saying was accurate. James McBride incorporated his mother’s point of view, which she gave a mini biography of her childhood stating, “I was born an Orthodox Jew on April 1, 1921, April Fool’s Day, in Poland. I don’t remember the name of the town where I was born, but I do remember my Jewish name, Ruchel Dwajra Zylkska” (1). Her quoted interview proves that McBride has credibility on his mother’s life because the beginning of the memoir, he wanted the reader to understand that he knew how his mother was brought up because of the intense research that he performed to write the memoir.
To be an airline pilot is most of the time described in terms of duties, job requirements, proficiency, training, employment opportunity, and good salary. These features picture a plain profile that fit into the specification of just an ordinary career. However, an aviation career comes with many challenges than expected. When focusing on statistics about being a pilot, it indicates a lifestyle that many inspire to work despite the many challenges that face this career. The challenges that pilot face revolve around being rested during long flights, performing unexpected, simultaneous tasks, and passing the medical examination in order to remain qualified. When combined with fatigue due to long flight hours, these different aspects can
If you have a love for the sky and aviation is one of your interests, you're not deterred from being in charge of at times more than 100 lives, and you have a soft spot for exploring the world than becoming an airline pilot is for you. Airline pilots have one of the coolest, most exciting nerve racking jobs out there. My goal for this paper is to explain all about how to become an airline pilot, what it takes to become one, the facts about the job, and some pros and cons of being in the field. My interest in flying was harbored as a child during vacations, my mother is a flight attendant so we traveled often. Whenever entering an airplane I was at awe of the sheer number of controls in the cockpit and the
They faced the potential that by that following April they had losses close to £250 million in two years.
Quality, how does Boeing establish and maintain quality? Previously we discussed leadership development; in nearly the same process of development, Boeing's leaders take their acquired knowledge and skills and pass it on to their employees. Through this continual cycle of education allows Boeing to maintain a competitive advantage. Another of Boeing's core values is safety.
Life at “old” British Airways lacked a unifying corporate culture. The 1971 merger of British European Airways (BEA) and British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC), by the British Airways Board, only succeeded in putting an umbrella over two separate mature entities. The focus of the BEA had been to build a European airline infrastructure. BOAS was an innovator and pioneered the first jet passenger service. Neither company was concerned with cost or profit. British Airways was government run and according to Jick & Peiperl (2011) “success had less to do with net income and more to do with ‘flying the British flag” (p.26). This inefficient government structure was bogged down with
Southwest Airlines, a major airline company in the United States says there’s something they value more than its customers and that something, is their employees. Organizational structure is referred to the system of shared ideas, values, and beliefs which basically controls how employees behave in organizations. These shared ideas and values have a strong influence on the organization and its employees in the means of how they dress, act or even how they perform their jobs. Southwest Airlines is known for their organizational culture and this is also considered one of the key factors contributing to their success. However, it is very unusual to hear that a company will put their employee happiness above their customer satisfaction. Southwest Airlines lists the employees first, customers second and shareholders third. If the company treats the employees right, the employees will treat their customers right and this all results in increased profits which will make everyone happy including the shareholders. Southwest has created a culture that is fun, full of values and ideas which is to help employees to enjoy what they do and take pride in their jobs. The airline as well teaches and encourages the employees to put others first and show great customer
