Although he is best known for his works as a successful adult, William Shakespeare was once a child. Www.bardweb.net states, “John Shakespeare had a remarkable run of success as a merchant, alderman, and high bailiff of Stratford, during William 's early childhood. His fortunes declined, however, in the late 1570s.” Shakespeare’s family was very financially successful during most of his childhood. This could have gave him motivation to have just as much success. “William, according to the church register, was the third of eight children in the Shakespeare household—three of whom died in childhood.(www.bardweb.net)” Though he had a very rich childhood, William learned the pain of loss at a very young age. Did this pain grow through adulthood.
IV: Middle Life William Shakespeare had started his adulthood late teen years. “ When they married, Anne was 26 and William was 18. William Shakespeare a smart writer went to an excellent grammar school in Stratford. He finished his formal schooling at the usual age, fifteen or sixteen, he studies independently throughout his lifetime. All his language works were usually with latin and French. The literature was ancient history, English history, Italian literature, and English literature. The plays reveal Shakespeare’s knowledge about English royal life. His father was both the mayor of Stratford and a farmer (4). His mother was involved with legal matters, frequently serving as a juror and executrix.(4) After Shakespeare dropped out of school, she then continued his education at home. When he was going to college, he attended King Edward VI School and married Anne Hathaway in 1588 when he was 18 years old and she was 26. Although, his personal life is difficult to track, he can only be found by two sources. The first is through his writings of sonnets, poems, and dramas. The second source is data records. Through these sources, the life of Shakespeare can be told about his early life, middle life, and legacy.

Shakespeare was inspired by attending an annual festival as a young child (Caird). Shakespeare learned to speak Latin and English when he was in school (Mabillard). Shakespeare’s grandparents owned land, a status symbol in that time (Gale 1). Shakespeare’s family was of relatively high status, which granted him the opportunity to attend school (Caird). Shakespeare had to leave school as a teenager because of his familial issues (Mabillard). Shakespeare was well off and well educated in his adolescence. Shakespeare’s life changed as he aged.

Tragedy can be associated with drama, and the most well known tragedy plays are Hamlet along with Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. He also channeled his delight, and humor, and every other emotion and experience into his writing, this is how he could make all the different types of plays come to life. Growing up Shakespeare experienced the loss of his three siblings forcing him into living a darker childhood than most could imagine. As a child Shakespeare attended King’s New School where he was taught Latin, grammar skills, and also how to construct many plays (“Shakespeare’s Life”). Grammar school was one of the most influential parts of Shakespeare’s childhood because it shaped his writing styles and shaped who he would be as a writer. Another component of who Shakespeare eventually evolved into as an author was the literary and historic period he was living in referred to as the Renaissance. Shakespeare found himself intrigued by authors such as Ovid, Virgil, and Cicero due to the complexity of their work.
