Consider your decision to become a chaplain carefully, as this is not a job for the weak of heart. If you become a chaplain, you’ll work with people in the most difficult situations of their lives. You may be on call all hours of the day or night, depending on your work situation. There may be times you deal with difficult people and you may not always agree with certain opinions or lifestyles. However, if you are up to the job, a chaplaincy provides great rewards. You’ll provide spiritual support or counseling to people from all walks of life, and although you may begin as strangers, strong bonds develop quickly during difficult times.
