Twas the night of the high school dance and everyone I knew was excited. I felt like I was the one who would be doing the most tonight. I was getting all dressed up. My nice black suit laying on my bed next to my dark red tie. I looked at them both and smiled. Tonight was gonna be the night that the high schoolers would never forget. I glanced at my clock to see how much time I had. I quickly grabbed my suit and tie and rushed to the bathroom to get dressed.
“You are Gorgeous!!!!” I yelled while looking in the mirror.
I went back into my room grabbed my comb, fixed my hair and then I was out of the door to the dance. It was the beginning of the dance and the gym room was already filling up. I could see everyone having a big bright shiny smile on their faces filling the room with light. I walked through the blood red and pitch black decorated room heading towards the punch looking for my first victim or should I the first person I was going to dance with.
The room was getting packed by the minute and my time was decreasing slowly. I needed to find my dance partner soon.
I was losing hope in finding the right girl but as my world started to fall it took a turn and I saw the most beautiful girl. She was wearing a sparkly red dress. The lights from the gym shining onto the gorgeous dress making the girl look like a glistening angel. I glanced around the room to see if anyone else had noticed her. Every boy in the room was looking straight at her in awe and some were even fighting over who would get to dance with her.
“I must dance with that girl,” I whispered to myself.
I walked over towards the girl but was too afraid to speak. I went back over to the punch bowl and started to think of a plan. I grabbed another person by the arm and asked him a question.
“W-who is that girl?” I stuttered out my mouth.
“Which one?” the short pale boy asked.
I replied “The one in the sparkly red dress.”
“Oh her,” the boy said, “ she’s some girl. I don't know much about her but not many people do. She’s kinda quiet though and she doesn't really talk to anyone.”
I nodded my head and then let go of his arm. I need to dance with that girl. That was my one goal for the night.
“I wish I knew more about her,” I whispered to myself as
I stopped mid-step and millions of thoughts rushed through my head. What was she going to say to me? Was she going to yell at me for not being able to do the turn? Was she going to take me out of the dance? I had never been so nervous at dance before and I felt a sense of uneasiness come over my whole body as I walked towards her.
I stood staring at my mom with a blank expression as she applied foundation on my face followed by powder and blush and a number of other various cosmetics that I had lost count of. Makeup, hair, costume, all of those were on the back of my mind as the thought of performing in front of three hundred people clouded my thoughts. All around me were muffled sounds of other dancers frantically running around trying to get ready in time, mothers yelling at their daughter's, music blaring from various speakers, doors opening and closing, metal hitting the tile floors as tappers practiced down the hall, but all I could hear was the thundering sound of my heart beat in my chest. My body started quivering slightly. The nerves were setting in. I don’t
My stomach started speaking to me as I was passing a Burger King. As I approached the register, I recognized that the Cashier was my classmate Kimbre. “ You know we ran out of burgers right?”, she said. Then I replied, “No, you don't say. Does Taco Bell run out of Tacos or Pizza Hut, Pizza?” Kimbre was a babe, the way she chewed her bubblegum made me hot! I mustered up the courage to look her in the eyes and I told her that we should hook up for the dance. She just broke up with her boyfriend, he got mono from kissing her best friend, so she was available. I wiped the lonesome tear off her cheek with my finger.
Then we started to warm up because we had a judge's preview. So basically we just went into a classroom and performed our dance it was really scary at first, but then it got better because I knew they weren’t judging us that
Walking into the embellished reception hall filled with people, I couldn’t predict what would happen, especially with not knowing much people that were going to be at the party. As Laura went off to greet all her friends in the room, I stayed alone at the
"I'm going to play the music once, and you're going to close your eyes and think about the dance. Ready?" Kaitlyn said while we were still waiting in the dressing
Halfway into the dance, an idea forms in my mind. A crazy, but brilliant idea. What if I ran away? Ditched this inferno and my untrustworthy parents. It’s not like they would miss me, we barely see each other. With the only exception being tonight. The one night that I actually try to do something that goes against their rules.
"Here," a voice said behind me and I jumped in fright, almost dropping the plates. I couldn't even begin to imagine the trouble I would be in if I broke something. The plates were taken from my hand and put in the sink to be cleaned. It was the girl with the fiery red hair and leafy green eyes. She turned to face me and stuck out her
The show was starting in just a few hours and everyone was rushing around making sure nothing would go wrong. The dancers putting on the last of their makeup going through their check-list. “Pointe shoes hair sprayed? Check. Hair hair sprayed? Check. False eyelashes? Not check!". I found myself wandering away from the others to a place where I can get just a minute alone. A minute alone to collect my thoughts before heading into the chaos. My dance was relatively soon so I decided to head back to get ready early. Standing backstage will most likely be the most nerve-racking experience ever. My white dress sparkled due to diamonds sewed onto the bodice. A crown placed in front of my bun made me feel complete. "Listen, you have to seize the moment and stay in it. Use that adrenaline and make this the best you have ever dance. But most importantly, have fun while you are out there. I'm proud of you". With Olivia's words, I get a sense of courage flow me. "Don't worry," I tell her, "I'm not going to throw away my shot". She smiles at me encouragingly. The audience claps and the music ends. Oh dear god it's my turn next. My body goes on autopilot as the music starts. Grand Jeté after Grand Jeté I leap, twirl, and pose my way off the stage; a smile not leaving my face the whole
All though I was scared because I wasn't stretched I was super happy and excited, because I didn't know that my favorite choreographer was teaching the addition. I learn the dance in pain I thought to myself, that the dance my learning was too much of a difficulty for me. Once all of the 15 intimidating groups of talent, go to addition. I was next in
I shrugged my shoulders and said “No, I don’t like going to dances, and I’m tired so I am going home instead and going to sleep”
“Would you like to dance?” She asked and waited for his reply, hoping that he would agree.
We crept slowly through the dark halls, using our phones as flashlights. We finally got to the gym and crept onto the stage, careful not to step on any glass.
Grabbing my gym bag, my keys and my runners by the door i headed for the
I sat in my father’s office for a while, thinking of reasons why he would mention those girls. ‘Maybe he was trying to make me jealous’ I kept telling myself. The longer I sat there the more I couldn't get him out of my mind. His adorable smile, incredible hair and his gorgeous face. Soon the excitement of seeing his astonishing face again rushed through my body. I hurried to my room, threw my closet doors open and flipped through every piece of clothing I owned until I decided on the perfect dress. I chose to wear my favorite dress from Barneys, it was red with flowers and rather flattering.
