High school has been very strenuous for me these past years . I have faced many obstacles along the way and still managed to overcome them. A difficult challenge I have faced throughout high school would be the time I decided to surround myself with toxic people. That year I had convinced myself that getting an education l did not have any importance in my life.. Hanging out with them made me think that graduating was unnecessary . I did not care whether I was passing my classes or not Most of the time I did not bother showing up to school. These decisions later affected me very much because I had failed most of and ended up being very behind with credits .During my sophomore year my counselor told me that I was not going to graduate with my class because I had not completed any of the required classes that I needed to take . Knowing that I would disappoint my parents and not be able to walk and receive a diploma with my friends made me realize that graduating was something I wanted to do , not just for my parents but for myself . I had realized that if I wanted to get somewhere in life I needed to graduate . In order to fix my grades and catch up with credits I had to take

For this I also took the challenge of learning everything I could and build on my knowledge. Throughout my life there has being several achievements that I am proud of just like any other person but their is one I am most proud of. It was a little before high school that I made a major decision that changed my life forever, my life took a new course.. It was one of those situations that you never expect, I had being accepted to this new program in the district called Early College Academy. This program gave the opportunity to students to be able to take high school classes while taking college credits, with the opportunity of getting their Associate’s Degree with their high school diploma. This was not just a great opportunity for me but it was also a gift, the district was paying for my higher education. As I set myself in this journey I grew up mentally and started to act as a college student, also, I learned to be on top of my classes and go a mile further in what I did. Although, I also encounter new struggles, for example, I was expected to pass a college level test when I was barely starting high
An obstacle I have overcome in my life is school. In school I have to work a little bit harder than others so i don’t fall behind. My choice to try harder helped me to keep going. If I didnt choose to work harder and keep going i would never get anywhere in life. I think having to work harder than others pushes me to be my best and makes me a stronger person.
The obstacles I met over the last three years are grades and shyness. I learned to overcome these obstacles by studying and joining the class of 2017 club. These experiences will impact my ability to problem solve ahead because they helped me survive. Also, they make me grow as a person.
As a high school student the greatest challenge I have faced was staying on track to graduate early. I am a senior in high school who is in the process of getting my diploma a year earlier than expected. Staying on track was a challenge for me because everything from applying for colleges to moving away from my home and getting the money for college was all thrown at me in a small amount of time. Money is a major setback when it came to applying to colleges because I was never fortunate to have money to pay to live on campus or even pay to be a commuter, and at that pay for all my classes. College is very expensive, so that is why I will be attending Mercer County Community College. I was required to take a lot of standardized tests; it was
The most significant challenge I have had was when I first started school I didn’t speak English well; when I started school communication was difficult with my teacher and my peers. The year following that I was enrolled in speech classes to practice pronunciation and learn vocabulary. During the time I spent in those classes , I felt left out of the rest of the class. I would go to Speech everyday and when Friday came around every week my first grade class had Fun Friday . When Fun Friday would begin at the end of every Friday I was sent away to Speech. This affected my academic achievement by making me work twice as hard as peers in and outside of class.
At the end of eighth grade year, I was ready for high school with all of the new experiences and challenges that comes along with it that it brings. Throughout the summer I had participated in activities that allowed me to become familiar with the school and some of the students. Unfortunately, school didn’t start good at all. All the amazing people I had gotten to know during the summer, I didn’t have any classes with. On top of that, I am such a pariah in my EGE class. From the first week of school I knew that connecting with my fellow peers in that class was going to be a challenge because
One of the biggest challenges i’ve faced would have to be when I attended SOAR High School. SOAR High School is a very educational based school, where students are required to take college courses along with rigorous high school courses. It took a lot of thinking and debating to whether or not I should apply, I was not sure if I was ready for this opportunity, the idea of taking taking college and High School classes seemed overwhelming, however, I decided to apply. I did not attend the Preparatory School for SOAR, which meant I would be progressing from a normal Junior HIgh School into an advanced High School. Once I got accepted we had to enroll in our College courses, the process of this was really exasperating, since prior to this I never
The greatest challenge I face entering college is finding the funds to go and earn my degree. Recently my family was blessed to know that my mother is expecting a baby boy. For me, finding the funds to pay for college without asking for money from my parent, so they can raise and support my baby brother, is the hardest challenge facing me.
One reason I struggled in high school was because of hanging out with the wrong group of friends. When I was a freshman I had many “friends” (as many do when they first start high school.) By the time I was a senior I had two friends out of the whole group of friends I started with my freshman year. Hanging out with bad influences not only got me into drugs but got me into thinking it was okay to come home 3 nights out of the week at 2 am, when my curfew was at 11 pm. At that point in my life I was dealing with my mother’s sickness alone and feeling like I would never be good enough for anyone. I went to the drugs and told myself that I was “forgetting” everything. Sadly I didn’t figure out how bad I was ruining my high school years until I
The most significant challenge I’ve faced is losing my dad to leukemia in 2012. Many complications followed, such as losing legal guardianship from my mom, which required my four sisters and I to take care of ourselves. My dad was an anchor for the family and tried to provide the best he could. Although his passing tore my family apart, my academics never ceased. I recognized myself as a disciplined individual who never gave up because I know my dad would not expect that. He made sure our homework was done, the house was clean, and our grades were maintained in order to go out. He raised my sisters and me to never settle for less and to push above our expectations. My dad always reminded us that we could accomplish anything we wanted with determination.
The biggest challenge that I faced was doing research at school. The reason it was hard is because of the school's
