Fresh out of college I moved to Steuben, Maine, right along the coast of Gouldsboro Bay. My dream as a kid was always to move to Maine; the farthest place from America without actually leaving America. I planned on working at my quiet accounting job for 30 years and retiring worry free, alone, happy. But, you changed everything. I remember it clearly. I had left my quaint little house to the coffee shop down the road. Being the only coffee shop for miles, it provided coffee for just about everyone in town. Run by an elderly couple by the names and Rob and Eden, the words “Steuben Coffee, Your Maine Place to Eat” hung high above the doors in clean white letters. Rob had made every piece of furniture in there; dozens of tables, all shapes and sizes, beautiful chairs, elegantly carved, and a large counter, with high seats for all the customers. Behind the counter you could see Rob and Eden making coffee and their baked goods all day long, the smells hitting you every time you walked in through the doors. This was my favorite place in all of Steuben. I looked around the familiar room. Faces of neighbors, friends, people I’ve grown accustomed to seeing here every day. All except one. A girl, sitting at the counter with her computer open and fingers typing away. I don’t remember walking over to her, but I remember talking to her. She turned towards me, and I caught my breath. She was beautiful. With fair skin her amber eyes shone brightly. Her brown hair faded into a blonde,
Now, I have moved all over the country, although this time was enormously different. I was there for four years and made some pretty talented friends forever and picked up skateboarding. I thought I was living life there it was the best.
My favorite place to be is Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A is a bright red and light colored brown building with a plant statue of a cow, an outside eating area, and a drive through. When you walk in you might hear the frier, or the timer for the waffle fries, people talking, kids playing on the plastic playground, and you might hear the drink machine running if you are at the counter. Some of things you will touch, that could be very gross, are food, tables, door handles, condiment containers, and more than likley your disgusting, filthy money. At Chick-Fil-A you will probably taste chicken because pretty much everything they serve at Chick-Fil-A is chicken, of course. You could also end up tasting their amazing milkshakes or your everyday
Disney World—the greatest place on earth. A place that anyone of age can have fun. According to the official webpage of Disney World, “the unforgettable happens [t]here”. Along with the opinions of many kids, teens, and adults, I agree that it is the greatest place on earth. The magical story book setting brings back the childhood nostalgia every American has felt in their life at least one time. However America is the only country to preserve the innocence from our childhood. But why? Why does America try so hard to protect our childhood innocence from the harsher reality?
I moved to Yankton, South Dakota when I was 6. I moved from Kearney, NE. I was really excited to move into a new house and a new town. Yankton is smaller than my old town it's also farther away from all of my family. For the most part I like yankton, most of the people are really nice. Since there is nothing to do in Yankton besides shopping around town in little stores, or going to a movie, or even going to dinner, or just driving around, my favorite thing is going to the lake and the bridge. There for my favorite part is definitely the lake. I love the trails and the beaches and everything down there. It's so peaceful and beautiful it's just a great place to get away. I like my school too, I mean sure it has its ups and downs but in reality
The only state I have ever known as home is North Carolina. I was born and raised in Charlotte and the only time I have ever moved away was last year to start a new chapter of my life as a college student. Growing up in Charlotte has had such an impact on what I plan to do with my future. As a young child I always thought of Charlotte as the next best thing to New York City. I shortly realized after visiting that was not quite the case. New York City introduced me to a new world of opportunity.
Roughly four years ago I moved to Buffalo with my mom and two sisters, best move ever. Before then I had lived in Rochester, or to be more specific, Brockport. My childhood house was big and gray. It had a huge yard and very long driveway. However, my house in Brockport is not my home. I call home my green and white Tudor styled Kenmore house. It has a small green yard and a short driveway. It has been the best part of my life because of all the opportunities that were missed out on when you live so far away. Here in Buffalo I have the opportunity to go the high school where my mom, aunts, grandma, cousins, and sisters all graduated from. For now my job is going to that high school, but the second I turn sixteen, I will be working as a cashier at the dashes down the street from my home, a little family tradition. The reason I moved though, is hands down the most awful thing to happen to me or that can happen to a little kid, like I was at the time.
Her enthusiasm lasted till lunchtime, fading only when no one came forward to talk to her, to tell her how beautiful she looked that day, to apologize, perhaps, for the late-night phone call. She is so desperate to know who it was. For her this is one in a billion of amazing things that happen to her. Today would be no different at all, she realized. It was just as if nothing had ever happened. What if it never happens again? Thinking to herself she thought that maybe she was sick and this was all just a dream. No one could ever like someone like her, I mean she wasn’t the prettiest and she didn’t have the “perfect
At 11.26pm a girl with sleek straight hair walked along the middle of a deserted street, the sharp heels of her shoes making a muted click every time they hit the damp cobblestone road beneath them. As she walked her hair swayed only slightly, as if not even the most powerful of winds could cause it to be anything less than beautiful. The girl took beauty very seriously, her outfit was always creaseless, her nails were always without chips and her shoes were always polished to the point of immaculateness. But it was her hair that was the most beautiful thing about her; it was long and as black as the night sky way above her, and shone as if it too had stars though out it. Never was a single hair out of place; never was her hair anything less
I moved to Florida when I was thirteen, I remember being extremely excited, due to the lack of snow, and my family and I would go to Miami for vacation, and moving there would be like to move to the vacation.
I live on a beautiful island in the Caribbean with pristine white beaches and turquoise waters. People save their pennies and their vacation days for a chance to visit where I call home now. Moving from a vibrant city filled with young professionals and happy hours galore. Always something to do, somewhere to be, someone to meet and full with many opportunities.
In 2009 my family and I moved from Chicago to Dubuque. I was 6 years old when we moved to Dubuque and it has really help me to be who I am today. My family and I packed up our bags and got on the road to Dubuque. The reason we moved to Dubuque was because of my dad's work. My dad works at Bodine Electric Company as an accountant. I would say it was a really emotional move but I was only six and I probably didn’t really care. When we got to Dubuque we checked into the Grand Harbor hotel/waterpark where my sister and I had some fun in the water, after that we looked at some houses and eventually chose the one I'm still living in today.
It was the first week of Autumn and leaves enclosed the earth like a blanket. The water was tranquil as the fishermen went out to sea. The sea breeze was strong yet refreshing. The board walk was abandoned apart from a few older fishermen. I come here every morning for my daily walk. All the same people are here every day, however this morning there was a new person. A mid teen girl wearing featureless clothes. I sat on a bench to take in the view. The girl stopped a few meters in front of me observing the railing of the boardwalk. Her hand gently skimmed the wood panelling and this slight movement allowed me to see a piece of stained white paper. It had red smudges all over it with black neat writing on it. She leaned over the
As I sit here, on the hood of my car looking out into the vast field I think to myself, why this place? Out of all the places that mean so much to me, why does this place stand out the most? Everyone has that one spot that is special to him or her for various reasons whether it be a memory, experience, how it makes them feel, etc. For me, my favorite place encompasses all my senses bringing them to an all time high filling me with an overwhelming indescribable feeling. It’s my sanctuary, a safe place, but above all a place to clear my mind and getaway from reality. There aren’t enough captivating words to describe the beauty of this place. In the winter, the vast field covered in a blanket of untouched glimmering snow surrounded by bare
Words like cozy, calm, and memories can be used to describe my special place. A special place depends on the individual you are referring to. To me a special place allows the person to be happy and sad at the same place. This is where all realms of memories are made, allowing the individual to be able to reflect on them when entering that special atmosphere. In the warm summers I sit in our lawn with my dog as the cool wind blows, a feeling falls over me thinking about why I love my home and property so much and that I'm so very thankful to have it. I zone out for hours thinking about all the time that I have spent there with my family and friends. While I never regret any of the memories I have made, I cherish all of them and hold them close to my heart.
As a child, people will always remember certain destinations that stick with them that made a good impression. I have a place that not only made a good impression, it changed me. It made me think off all the things in life people take for granted; places, people, activates. This place brought all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and driving the long trip there, going through forests, valleys, and cities.
