Thomas Jefferson was elected in the 1800’s as the President of United States. During the years of being a president, Thomas Jefferson executed the job very well. He was a great leader for his accomplishments and his philosophies that affected politically as well in other ways; he also showed a lot of affection against slavery. Firstly, Thomas Jefferson was an opponent of slavery. According to research, Thomas Jefferson had said slavery was “moral depravity and hideous blot” (Thomas Jefferson and Slavery Monticello). This means Thomas Jefferson thought it was a corruption of the nation and in comparison to an ugly dark splattered paint which displays the darkness to the nation. Using the same resource, it had mentioned this statement “He thought that his cherished federal union, the world’s first democratic experiment, would be destroyed by slavery” (Thomas Jefferson and Slavery Monticello). This sentence shows that Thomas Jefferson wanted the best for the U.S government and to accomplish having slavery abolished. This accomplishment was the Louisiana Purchase. Jefferson purchasing Louisiana almost doubled the size of the United States. Proving that, being the president he would bring more territory to expand the country. “Affair of Louisiana would impact upon "their highest destinies" proved prophetic indeed”(Thomas Jefferson and Slavery Monticello). Using this information, Thomas Jefferson shows the leadership by giving the people the promise that Louisiana/ the new territory will provide the best needs for the future that will be necessary. Without this Louisiana Purchase would we have received another portion of this country? Jefferson leadership was indeed a huge factor for this portion to gain another
