The Kids Learning Centre is a privately-owned day care facility and non-formal educational institution for children up to 12 years old. It is located at the heart of the City of Downtown, just behind The Business Building, a convenient place where parents and guardians can drop off their children safely. It operates from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM daily, and closes only during major holidays.
Through interviewing Joyce I gained insight into a strong philosophy, leadership style, and how her background experiences have created the director she is today. When deciding to become a director of a daycare, there are two options: opening and owning your own center or directing an established or corporate owned daycare. While I have done much research on owning my own daycare, I have little experience about what it would be like to be the director of an established center. Financial responsibilities and budgeting are also two aspects that are important, but the level of responsibility is drastically different in each scenario. Lastly, legal and ethical responsibilities exist in either scenario as well.
At Children’s Discovery Center the daycare is split into two buildings, one building is for the children in pre-school and the second building is for infants to three year olds getting ready to start pre- school. The classroom I observe is for children 18 months to 28 months. They are about fourteen children in the class with two teachers. The way the class is set up the younger students and their two teachers share one classroom, but the teachers and their toddlers are not in the same room until lunch time and nap time. The classroom has a kitchen, reading area, girls and boys bathroom, activity tables and there is a connecting room for the children to have bible time and free play. The discovery center has three separate playgrounds for the
An increase in baby booming makes it tougher for working parents to find daycare. The facts prove that having children come with a true price. Even so it doesn’t change the issues of finding child care or makes them go away. When parents work, quality child care is a necessity. And it does not come cheap. For families with more than one child, child care can eat up one salary, leaving parents wondering both working is worth it. When thinking of child care there are some options to consider like choosing a child care center, the costs of child care centers, and waiting lists.
Families have many choices for childcare, ranging from in-home care, a childcare facility, an after school program or a
As an employee, I would like to institute an in-house day-care center. Employees feel an in-house day-care center would be beneficial to the company. Currently, employees spend more time dropping off and picking up children than doing their job. Employees collectively have a total of 18 preschool children and their families continue to grow. The purpose of this memo is to propose an in-house day-care center. In order to gain approval for an in-house day-care center, consider the following: 1) benefits, 2) regulations, 3) requirements, 4) finances, 5) tasks and 6) exposure.
While daycare/ childcare centers provide a safe haven for young children and left in the care of licensed caregivers, there is more to daycare then just temporary relief for parents. These facilities offer a nurturing and fun learning environment to promote curiosity, innovation, and continuous growth in developmental abilities and positivity in children, and they also have the ability to provide encouraging and engaging activities that endorse emotional, social, and academic development (Phillips 1987). Within these facilities, high quality care calls for each child reach greater levels of learning and can develop skills at their own pace under supervision.
. The daycare and child development business is booming and profits are soaring. With more people looking at the child care field from different angles, these type of programs have more opportunities for more allies and partners, for funding and positive public relations, for improving, and “professionalizing” the programs that we offer to our children in our communities. Non-profit groups and higher education have increasingly partnered with schools, often including after-school hours.
During this thanksgiving break I met with Zurlay Rivera, a daycare provider back in Revere, MA. Being a business owner she supervises her 2 assistants and she makes sure all is running well with the kids. Ms. Rivera is sponsored also sponsored by Child development. Child development and education is the largest child care system in Massachusetts. This company supports children’s learning, partners with families and it is a
Little by little, children finish their meals and get ready for naptime. The children dump the remainder of their milk in the same sink where they wash their hands. Slowly children go lie down on their own. One of the TSS’s turns off the lights on that side of the room. Kayla puts on a rest time cd and goes to start cleaning up the kitchen. I ask what kind of music is playing but Kayla is not sure. Alyssa gets blankets for any children who need them. Kayla tells her the children only get their blanket if they are settled down. Seeing the children start to fall asleep I get ready to leave. Saying goodbye to Kayla and Alyssa, thanking them for their time.

Approximately 60 percent of U.S. children aged five and younger have spent time in a child care setting (Wohlgenant, et al). This number is increasing and the need for child care continues to be more and more demanding. The big question is whether daycare centers, home care faculties, or the stay-at-home mom the best choice for children? Overall daycare centers are more beneficial to children 's social, emotional, and educational development because of the center ' tighter guidelines. About 57 percent of children are in some type of child care based in a daycare center, while 23 percent were cared for at home by a relative of some sort, and 12 percent are in home care facilities (Davidson 671). Over half of children are in a daycare center, meaning that is the right choice for children when we can provide the right staff, education, social and emotional atmosphere.
Childcare is the starting point in your children 's lives. The choices you make on childcare can affect them greatly. It is when they will begin to meet the friends that they will grow up with as they go through grade school. Children need this step in their lives to adjust from staying at home, to staying with other children in a completely different surrounding. There are so many different options for childcare now a days, it is extremely hard to say which is the most beneficial for children. In this paper I will discuss the childcare decisions that my mother made for me, what to consider when evaluating childcare, and compare them to some of my references and see how they are similar and also how they differ.
While there are some caregiver’s that are only in the human service field to earn a paycheck and with the lack of parental involvement in their child’s life, it can make a caregiver’s job more challenging. Daycare centers serve as a stepping stone for a child’s future that will teach them how to establish appropriate skills and aid in the development of their cognitive abilities. Positive child interactions not only aid in the development of social and cognitive development, but also in the child’s self-esteem and it lets them know they are important and loved.
The environment is very important because it has an effect on our moods, how we interact with our peers and our health. In addition, the environment of the child care center plays a very important role in the children’s learning and their development, so we need to take into consideration how it is set up. In the early years of the child’s life their brains are developing at a rapid pace and they are making lots of connections.
