I approached my genre writing based on Writing in the Health Sciences guidelines for research papers. Since my chosen paper was a research paper, I looked for the sections in a research paper that included the abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and references. This helped me decide what needed to be in each section so I could elaborate on if it was included or was not.
The 1940’s were a time of war and then prosperity for Americans, not only in wealth but in a chance for a better education and social economic status. Films went from patriotic during the war to a more realistic portrayal towards the end of the war in 1945. By the second half of the 1940's, with an injection of expatriate directors trained in the German visual evocation of emotion to the French poetic realistic films, a new style of films were about to emerge. A similar change was also happening in reality, from the hope of the formation of the United Nations to the start of the Cold War.
It is true that criminal justice is a major part of the entertainment world. In most shows on TV today, I was really surprised when I sat down to think about what shows I watched that would actually fit in to the three components. I didn’t realize at first how many shows I watched that actually depicted the law enforcement, court systems, and the corrections aspects of Criminal Justice.
The Girls of Murder City by Douglas Perry follows the lives of various women in Chicago who are on trial for murder in the 1920’s and the new kid on the block reporter following their cases. While The Girls of Murder City did have a few good parts and vivid description, the book was overtaken by its lack of relevant information, poor pacing and flow, and its inability to make us want to pick up the book again.
Labelling theory is relevant as it shows how society has branded men in gangs as deviant and the social reactions to this naming (Tierney 2013, p.148). As individuals like Asling and Blewitt are already part of a deviant subculture and habitual offenders, they strive to fulfil the deviant label. Thus, all further behaviour, activities and tasks orbits around the attempt to find social status, power and authority that they might not find in a legitimate society. This act of crime also solidifies their association with Williams, a notorious figure in Australia’s underworld. As a result, stuck in this criminal label, both men are conditioned to value success through illegitimate means to obtain a sense of identity and therefore committing crimes
Firstly, drugs ruin lives and need to always have an opposing force attempting to eradicate their presence. In Laffey’s article, he describes a neighborhood that has been corrupted by the drug game. He watches as dealers, buyers, decoys, and normal families, go about their lives at night. Laffey oversees and organizes a team of other police officers to bust everyone involved in the sale and buying of these narcotics. The entire neighborhood is run down and can be traced to the presence of illegal substances in the area. Laffey also gives readers the story of a father that used far less money to feed his family, than he used to satisfy his drug use. Proving, that drugs have the power to tear apart families and ruin the lives of everyone close to the addict. It is because Laffey and his team are constantly trying to interrupt the transactions, that the community is not run down any further.
The two short stories, “The Yellow Wallpaper” and “Story of an Hour”, are two very similar stories. They share similarities of feminism, freedom, and marriage.
My second week at the court house was long but eye opening. I learned so much about the criminal justice system. I leaned that each procedure and each role a person play is crucial to someone life. On Tuesday, the day was short but still alarming. I came in and shadow one of the clerks as she was preparing for court. As the clerk was setting up for court I remember trying to recognize which department is what on each traffic ticket. I felt confuse, but the clerk show who was trooper, SUNY New Paltz police, and state police/ She remind that I will eventually learn who is who and how to set up for court. I felt better about what she said and I was ready for court. I notice that court will be short today because we did not have many cases. I began
Detective stories that have been published over the years all contain dramatic elements that the reader has come to expect. These conventions that Aydelotte discussed in The Dectective Story as a Historical Source are especially ever present in Edgar Allen Poe’s The Murders in the Rue Morgue and they shed light on the concerns of the people of the time.
The musical film has always held a special place for me. From my time as a drama student in high school, my eyes have been opened to the amazing world of the musical and especially the musical film. The musical film is a film genre in which the characters sing songs that are integrated into the overall story. Since musicals first began in theaters, musical films usually contain similar elements. These elements often simulate that there is a live audience watching. In a sense, the film viewers become the audience members, at a theater production, as the actor performs directly to them. Due to the popularity of musicals in the theater, the style was quickly brought over into film. In 1927, the musical film genre began

In crime novels, typically, there is a character who commits an offence and then is taken down by the hero. However, the genre noir contradicts this stereotype of crime themed stories. Noir was created in the 1930’s and is inspired by both literature and previous film history along with the sociohistorical of the period it grew out of.
No matter which type of job or career the author is looking for, a resume is a great first step. Generally, resumes are built and created in early adulthood by the author them self. There are a few things that can be assumed about the authors. First, they are middle to upper class individuals who like to show off their own personal qualifications, education, and academic and professional experiences they have obtained throughout their life. The audience in which will be looking over these resumes could be a pretty broad range generally speaking, but for the most part whoever the author is submitting the resume to will be the intended audience for this genre. I think it is safe to say this genre will be around for many years to come,
